USB drive NTFS with content
I have a 2TB SATA HDD NTFS that i pulled from my dead WHS and installed in a HDD USB Enclosure. I have another 2TB HDD installed in the NAS Duo v1. I want to copy the content from certain folders off the HDD (in USB enclosure) onoto the HDD in the nas. Can i conenct this via USB and copy directly? OR will the NAS format it? I am hoping to avoid connecting ti to my laptop and transfering via FTP or windows as that will take a days

- sphardy1ApprenticeYes - but not recommended. The Duo is notoriously slow at accessing NTFS formatted drives and so your best option is to transfer via your PC which will be faster.
- gravytrainAspiranttell me about it, i just set up a new NV+ and had a 1Tb USB drive nearly full that I wanted to transfer.....direct USB to NV+ was running like 1.8Mb/s so I cancelled it and plugged the USB drive into my PC and started transferring it across the network and it's running at least 8Mb/s....still terribly slow
**update, 1Tb took over 24 hours sustained transfer and that was going USB external drive->laptop->wired direct to NV+
if you hook the USB hard drive to the NV+ direct it will take an unreasonable amount of time, multiple days for 1Tb of data
