readynas mapped drive keeps disconnecting
Hi everyone, I have a readynas 312 running os 6 and I have an issue where mapped network drives to the readynas constantly disconnect. Even while using a file I'll go to save it and it won't allow it because the drive is no longer available. I have crashplan running on a computer and it constantly misses backups because during the scheduled backup time the mapped drive shows not connected.
Is there a setting somewhere that can fix this?
Thank you

Do you have disk spindown enabled?

yes but only scheduled to turn on overnight when nobody is in the office using the nas
- poko2121Aspirantyes gigabit ethernet connection from Nas to switch and then from switch to computers. I will try later today switching the ethernet wire and port with the one from the server it replaced to see if there is any difference

If that doesn't help the packet loss problem, then try a direct connect between the PC and the NAS. You'll need to set up a suitable static IP address on the PC (if you use dhcp, the NAS will fail over to 192.168.168.168 ).

switched the ethernet cable and port and still getting dropped connections. Haven't been able to test it directly to one computer only as others in the office need to use the files. Is there a setting or reason that may cause dropped packets? There was never a dropped packet issue before when using the windows server.
Thank you
- poko2121Aspirantit's not a managed switch. I'll try flow control but it does the same thing when accessing through vpn. it usually doesn't connect

Tried the flow control and still getting the issue. My mac computer is alwasy able to connect and hold a connection but the 3 windows computers all have disconnection issues and are usually not able to connect for a few min every half hour.
Is there something else I could try?
Thank you

Is the Mac using AFP or CIFS? Is it connected to the same switch as the Windows PCs?
