Can't access web GUI setup
Recently have been unable to login to the frontpage gui, but Raidar still sees the NAS and the shares still work. When I try to use the gui, I never get prompted for a username/password. All started when I was trying to add the NAS to my Readycloud. Is there a lockout if the password is tried too many times? This is going on for about 4 days now.
Tried Win8.1 Pro & Win 7 Ultimate with IE and Chrome to access the GUI.
Tried reloading the OS twice now and even attaching the Pro2 to a different router on a different subnet. No luck. I updated it previously to OS6, so support from Netgear may be an issue. Was running 6.1.4. I see that 6.1.5 is now out. Is there a was to update the NAS to 6.1.5 via USB stick? Is that worth a try.
Since I can access the shares still, I already backed up everything to another drive. Is a factory reset the last resort? Would it reset to OS6 again?
Any help really appreciated.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'm puzzled on the model number - your signature says RN104, but the post suggests a pro-2???
I think I'd try powering down the NAS and restarting it next. - euphosAspirantThank for the reply StephenB - I added the Pro2 to my signature. The Profile only has a dropdown for selecting one by your avatar.
I've powered down numerous times, reloaded the OS twice now, tried connecting to another spare router on a different subnet. Currently have a support ticket in, and ready to boot into "tech mode" so a L3 tech can take a look. However once the see I'm running OS6 on a legecy device, I think they'll refuse to go any further. - StephenBGuru - Experienced Userdid you enable ssh?
- euphosAspirantYes - It was enabled. I used PuTTY to try to ssh in, got the login prompt, but the password was denied. At this point with the OS reinstall, I assume my password was replaced with the default for OS6 "password". However I tried that, netgear1 (from the original OS), and my personal one I used. None work.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced Userall using "root" as the username I assume?
- euphosAspirantOoooooh - my bad. I was using "admin", not "root". I can ssh in using "root" and the password I assigned to the admin account. (shouldn't that have reset to "password with the OS reinstall?)
But I'm clueless from here. What should I look for?
Thanks for all the help thus far. - euphosAspirantJust received word back from Netgear, and their L3 tech sees I'm running OS6 on my Pro2, so any further help in unlikely.
I do have SSH access, what can I do?
Is there a way to reload the OS via USB? I'm not sure the reload is taking via the reset / boot menu using the front panel. Shouldn't all the passwords reset with an OS install? Or is the OS install different on a Pro2 running OS6 rather than v4.2.25 firmware? - super_poussinVirtuosoIf you want forward ssh port on your router (22 tcp) and send me ( by PM ) your public @Ip and the admin password and I will take a look
- Daishi1AspirantHi!
I have readynas 104 and I have the same problem. I wanted to uninstall a program from the nas and after it I lost my access to the admin gui. I reinstalled os however it did not help. I have no access to my readynas via SSH. What can I do to restore access to the admin gui?
Sorry for my English but it is not my native language.
Thank in advance. - human102GuideI have same problem.
