Shares disappeared after reboot

I have an ReadyNAS Ultra 2 (RAIDiator 4.2.19) with configured with two volumes (i.e. no RAID). After a reboot in the ReadyNAS Frontview web interface, all my shares (AFP only) are gone.

If I try to re-add the shares the Frontview complains that I now have user accounts with the same names as the shares I want to add. If I go to the user accounts page I see that an account have been created for each share I previously had. If I remove these I can re-add the shares, configure them, then everything is as it was before (including any data on my shares) .... until I reboot the NAS again.

How can this happen? How can I trust the NAS to keep my data if it can't even keep some simple share configuration?!

Regards
Mikael

  • This also has happened to me. Not clear to me if there is some dependency on installation of the latest squeezebox software as well.

The removal of the user names did enable me to recover the share. When I did reboot, I did not see the user names return and the share disappear, however I did not reboot with the fsck (check file system option.

Agreed, this is a nasty bug that should be fixed very quickly. QA on firmware seems deficient. Makes me want to read release notes very closely before taking any updates for firmware again. This does not lead to user confidence.
