Hello Community,
hope you are well well and safe.
Would need your advice on either RAXE500 and AX8 (RAX80) which I'm currently "eying" as a replacement for my current setup.
I've currently have a WiFi router in the house and a "satellite" in a Mesh configuration.
The "satellite" is in our garden (approx. 150feet from router) in a separate workshop and hooked up via CAT6 cable (Ethernet backhaul) to the router in the house.
It all works seamlessly and I'd rather not want to lose this kind of setup with getting either of the mentioned Netgears.
So, long story short, is this kind of setup possible with either of the mentioned Netgear choices?
Many thanks for your input and help
all the best
Alex

heya mate,
thanks again :).
Its not the I'm "eyeing" the latest/greatest ... but ... if I'm replacing a 5 year old system ... I thought it won't do any harm going for "future proofing" (at least somewhat 😉 )
Thanks again mate
all the best

Neither of those devices is a mesh router.
You can hardwire in an extender or satellite but I'd recommend just going with a mesh system like orbi or the MK nighthawk versus trying to use a standard router and add extenders. The designed mesh systems tend to be more stable and work better.

Heya mate,
many thanks for your response, greatly appreciated.
I do assume that the orbi or the MK nighthawk do support ethernet backhaul?
THanks

they both do. Some of the series have satellites that don't have ethernet ports. Just something to keep in mind.

I know the RAXE is a 6E router. Is that something you're wanting or just eyeing the "latest/greatest"?
Netgear doesn't currently have a 6E mesh solution but with all the other networking companies having them, I have a feeling its being worked on. No details that I'm aware of released yet though.
