EX6100 as access point using a switch

Hello,

I'm currently using my EX6100 as a wireless access point, so I have a LAN cable stretching from my router to the EX6100's Ethernet port.

If I plug that LAN cable into a switch instead, and connect the switch to my EX6100, will I still get an WiFi internet connection via my EX6100?

Best,
AJ

Yes you will. Are all the ports of the EX6100 occupied, or do you want an intervening at some location between the router / AP to provide local Ethernet connections at that point?

Re: EX6100 as access point using a switch

Babylon5,

Thank you for your response.

The reason why I need a switch is because the EX6100 has only 1 Ethernet port and it is already occupied with the LAN cable that connects it to the router. I do NOT need an intervening between the EX6100 and the router.

I just bought a DVR that can only connect to the internet via Ethernet, so I thought I'd get a switch, connect my router to the switch instead of the EX6100, and then connect the switch to both the EX6100 (in Access Point mode to provide wireless internet connection) and to the DVR.

Having said that, it will work, right?

Best,
AJ

Yes, that's a pretty standard setup, you should be fine.
