EX6120 wifi range extender
I’ve been told it’s possible to to connect a range extender to another range extender so that I can get wifi from bt home hub to an outside building. Can’t see anything in the manual or on netgear website on how to set this up.
Does anyone know if this is possible and how to set it up. The extender works to the home hub I just don’t have the range required.
Thanks
Ronnie

Re: EX6120 wifi range extender
You can daisy chain extenders but they tend to have horrible performance.
Reason why is each hop drops performance 50%. It does this because extenders have to go router---->extender and then extender----->device. and it can't do both at once because it uses the same chip. So you loose 50% of your speed per hop.
so if you have a 2nd extender, its maximum speed is 25%. And thats if its got a good signal.
Easiest way to setup is using the installation assistant and not using wps.
So setup the first one to the router, then setup the 2nd one.

Re: EX6120 wifi range extender
Thanks
It’s for a couple of wifi cctv cameras, about 30m from the house, clear line of site but an old brick garage at the destination end
