EX7000 SSID configuration

Hi, thinking about buying the EX7000. Can I configure both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz SSIDs to be the SAME name? I've seen on some routers / access points that this is restricted.

EX7000 is a wireless extender hence its wireless settings will be set the same as the home wireless network/main router.

The device can also be used as an access point (or should be based on the documentation) - bottom of page 18 - http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX7000/EX7000_UM_21dec2014.pdf

If you will set it up as an AP, setting the same SSID should not be an issue since they are in different band. Though I haven't tried it for troubleshooting purposes. Let me know if you will encounter issues.

I don't mind testing it, but I haven't bought it yet - still doing research as to which devices support what I want. I'm only asking the question because I saw where I couldn't set the same SSID on another router / access point when setting it up for a friend (don't remember the name, but it was a low end router they received from their ISP).

Yeah. Heard that for older routers/APs, though same SSID can be set on both bands, issues may occur when connecting. But for this particular model, it should be good.

As mentioned by Daenerys, setting up similar SSID shouldn't be an issue.
