Fast Lane hasn't improved speeds
Hi
Have just set up Fast Lane (2.4 GHz to extender than 5GHz to devices). It all set up successfully but the speeds have not improved at all. Router to Extender signal strength is good at 78 Mbps. Can't do 5GHz to extender and 2.4 to devices as the signal strength from router to extender is only 30%; not the greater than 60% that is recommended. Speeds directly from our router our 42 Mbps down and about 13 up. Speeds via extender are only about 3.5 down and 6 up even when I'm right next to the extender. The extender has the latest software version Firmware Version: V1.0.2.24_1.1.134. Attached is a screenshot of current status on the Extender. Please help! Speeds are terrible through the extender!

Re: Fast Lane hasn't improved speeds
2.4ghz wireless speeds aren't nearly as fast as 5ghz speeds.
a few things you can try doing.
1. actually try the 5ghz option for connection to the router. 5ghz is much faster so sometimes a weak 5ghz signal can be faster than a good 2.4ghz signal.
2. Try changing wifi channels. If there's interference on the channel you're on, its going to impact speeds.
3. Try changing the extenders position. Sometimes moving laterally can help as it removes obstructions in walls (think things like hvac). Sometimes you do need to move closer. A extender needs a half decent connection to rebroadcast. And right now its showing "green" but you're link speed is 78mbps when it can get up to 300mbps link speed over 2.4ghz. so its not that great of a connection. And its in the slower band.
4. What is your wall materials? certain materials (adobe, plaster lathe, brick/concrete, foil lined insulation, metal) all block wifi really well. In these types of homes, extenders aren't always the best option.
