NETGEAR EX8000 fails and blinks all white legs and green power led
Hi,
just baught an EX8000 extender for my house, and it wasn't booting up properly.
I had something similar to the issue posted here -> https://community.netgear.com/t5/WiFi-Range-Extenders-Nighthawk/NETGEAR-EX8000-fails-to-exit-quot-fa...
Since the other post soves the problem on a windows machine, I wanted to share the steps to solve it on a mac/linux system:
- Download the latest firmware for your device (it should be an .img file)
- Disconnect your pc from wireless and/or wired internet connection.
- Connect your pc via ethernet to the modem, set the address manually to:
ip 192.168.1.3
subnet 255.255.255.0
router 192.168.1.1 - From a bash terminal
cd Path/to/Firmware/Directory
tfdp -e 192.168.1.1 69
put DownloadedFirmware.img - Wait till the upload is completed ( I had to wait approximately 20 seconds)
- Reset the device by pressing the reset button for approximately 30 seconds (I had to wait that time to see the power led blink red)
- Wait 5 to 10 minutes while the system reboots
- Navigate to http://mywifiext.local/
- If 7 fails try switching the device off and then back on and repeat step 6
- If point 7 succeeded, set-up the extender.
- Switch your wired network configuration back to DHCP
- Test your internet connection by testing your network speed on https://www.speedtest.net
- Turn of the extender and put it wherever you like !
Hope it may help someone
Cheers
