Netgear AC6250 - Netgear_EXT not showing up

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a Netgear AC6250 Wifi Mesh Extender and have a lot of trouble trying to connect this to my home network. The biggest challenge is trying to find Netgear_EXT. This is what I tried so far:
- Downloaded the Nighthawk App and had no luck.
- Connected using WPS with my router and managed to connect it although the 'Router Link' icon stays red; the device is only a few metres away. Have also tried moving it closer to the router with the same result.
Is there something wrong that I'm doing? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

- When holding the factory reset button, hold it for at least 30 seconds.
- Keep trying until you see NETGEAR_EXT. Once I found this on my network I quickly selected it and created my login.
- Moving the Wifi Extender makes a big difference; try different spots, do a factory reset and try again.
Hope this helps someone who has a similar issue.

And that router is? And the modem/gateway, if there is one, in front of it?

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
WiFi Range Extenders & Nighthawk Mesh - NETGEAR Communities
I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
Check for various troubleshooting tips.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Re: Netgear AC6250 - Netgear_EXT not showing up
Thanks for your reply!
My router is one supplied from my ISP, which is a TP-LINK Archer VR1600v.
Yes I've checked the manuals and done several factory resets.
On a separate note, I connected my extender using an ethernet cable to my router and located the IP address of the extender. While trying to login, I couldn't use the default user name and password. It's really weird!
I tried again setting it up again and NETGEAR_EXT appeared briefly; was almost successful and it cut off before the setup could finish.
Is this a faulty product or just my network? Thank you for moving my message! Any help is appreciated.

The challenge is that when I run a speed test, it says device isn't connected. What's going on now???
