Placement of Wi Fi Extender

I have my Wi Fi extender installed outdoor on the patio.  It cannot get wet, but it will be subjected to the Florida humidity.  When installed inside, it did not give me the needed range.  Is it a mistake to plug it outside?  Thank you

I would make sure to put it in some type of weather proof enclosure with some venting. otherwise, it will shorten the lifespan of it. 

Or you could look at one rated for outdoors like the RBS50Y (has an extender mode)
