Some sites unreachable

I can access sites like YouTube and LinkedIn but most other sites give “site unreachable” on Chrome & Safari. When I do a full reset it works for 1 day then goes back to same problem. Plus the sites that don’t work give a Unsecure Site sign in the browser address bar, even for standard reputable sites. Whitelisting sites does not work. Any advice?

Re: Some sites unreachable

1. what router do you have?

2. what modem/gateway is it connected to?

3. what extender do you have (since you posted in the extenders section)?

4. Firmware on the extender?

5. What setup method did you use? WPS? The installation assistant? The app?

Re: Some sites unreachable

Hi Plemans,
I have a modem/router from my ISP in France, it is an Orange Livebox 4 Fibre
I have a Netgear EAX20 extender
Firmware is the latest V1.0.1.64
For set up I used an Ethernet cable between modem and extender and used the www.routerlogin.net site with admin login to set up through that site after needle reset on extender. I chose use as extender instead of as AP, as I want a WiFi link between the modem and extender, not an ethernet cable. What is strange is that it works fine for a day or 2 and then I get site unreachable. But is fine for LinkedIn or YouTube, I’m guessing because they use CDN or have different security settings from standard sites like Bloomberg.com
I see other thread that mentions switch to static DNS and IP and/or roll back to earlier firmware version.
Thanks for reaching out! James

If you want it wireless, it needs to be setup in extender mode. If you set it up in AP mode and its wireless, I'm surprised it even slightly works.   What is strange is that it works fine for a day or 2 and then I get site unreachable. Re: Some sites unreachable

Hi, I set up in Extender mode, in that as admin I selected Extender mode on the screen, but for this set up I had the extender wired to modem because otherwise there were WiFi connection issues, kind of a catch 22. After set up it worked for 2 days, as usual…I haven’t tried the static DNS and IP yet, and not sure how to install old firmware. In the past I have set up wireless over the WiFi, same issue happens. Any idea what to try next? Given it fails after 1 or 2 days that is probably the dynamic IP changing. First thing is to see if I can change to static DNS and IP and if that fails it’s probably the firmware version. It’s annoying that I see several users rolling back to old firmware to fix the issue and still Netgear don’t seems to have announced a fix for this issue with their firmware. Not good Netgear but happy to be proved wrong.

Re: Some sites unreachable

so you're wireless and running in extender mode?

one thing to check is some of the ISP devices from orange have a mesh feature or self organizing network feature. It can cause issues with extenders. You might check on the forums for orange or that specific router if that's a concern
