Should I put the ATT router in IP Passthrough mode?
No.

I have read that without “bridge mode”, inefficiencies will occur, such as double NAT.
The EAX20 extender does not do any NAT, its a clean wireless access point. The router bridge mode was indeed introduced to install a -different- router so here won't be dual NAT. As this extender isn't a router and doe no NAT - figure....

Re: Tweak home router for EAX20 extender in access point mode
why do think you need to "tweak" the router?
If the EAX20 is in access point mode, the att router still needs to be in router mode functioning as a router or the EAX20 won't work

I can easily stop the ATT router WiFi.
I have read that without “bridge mode”, inefficiencies will occur, such as double NAT.
