WN3000RPv3 as AP to a Private Air gapped LAN?
Hi all,
I want to use my new WiFi extender as a wireless access point to a Powerline LAN I have in my house. This LAN is deliberately not connected to the Internet for security reasons.
When I configure the extender as an AP with a static address (192.168.168.2), the configuration page forces me to specify a gateway IP and DNS server IP even though there is none attached to the network - I can't save the configuration unless something is specified. Once I save with some dummy values for these settings (both 192.168.168.1), I am unable to connect to the extender at all and require a factory reset to go back in and try something else. I am assuming it's the fact that I've had to put in these dummy values that's causing the issue, but I just want to know if anyone can confirm or debunk this theory, or if there is any other advice out there?
Many thanks!

Do you have the extender attached to a router?

Hi Darren - so no, I'm trying to use the extender simply as an access point for a LAN that is not connected to the internet

I understand that I am asking if you have a router in the setup assigning the extender a IP address?

Re: WN3000RPv3 as AP to a Private Air gapped LAN?
I believe that is the issue because the extender can not do any type of router functions.
