connect ac1200 to mr60 mesh

hi I have a mr60 nighthawk and I purchased a netgear ac1200 range extender. I cant get this to connect doing everything that has been ever written. it seems like this should be easy but not.\

Did you set it up using the push button WPS option? 

If so, factory reset the extender and set it up using the installation assistant.

To factory reset, push and hold the reset button for 7-15 seconds while powered on.
