slow internet speed after connecting the EX6120 extender
hi There,
I purchased extender EX6120 at home.
I have 1GBPS connection at my home on the airtel router.
When I connect using the extender using my laptop which is just 10 feet away from extender, it gives me very LOW (25Mbps) speed, which otherwise is 10 times slower than what I get without extender.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Reagrds,
Prashant

Re: slow internet speed after connecting the EX6120 extender
A couple things.
1. 2.4ghz is much slower than 5ghz. 25mbps is about what 2.4ghz will do using a single/dual band extender
2. single/dual band extenders drop the speed they recieve by 50%. reason this happens is they have to uses the same chip to go router----extender and then extender---devices. And that chip can't do both at once. So if you're in an area where the router is hitting 50mbps, the extender can only output 25mbps. Extenders only really increase speeds in areas where there wasn't coverage or where there was dead spots.
so
What actual router are you connecting to?
are you connecting over 2.4ghz or 5ghz?
What speed do you get from each from the extender?
And what actual speed do you get connected to the router in the location the extender is at (for both bands)?
