wn200rpt v3 change frequency

I just found a netgear repeater WN2000RPTv3 in the garage, just the thing for pushing the wifi to the back of the house. But I have gripes: firstly the source network and the extended network are on the same frequency, so no matter where I put the extender there is allways somewhere in the house where the source network and extended network are at the same power, resulting very slow speeds. Can I not change the frequency ? Secondly despite what it says in the instructions, the thing will not set up as an access point, so that the internet signal comes in on an cable and is radiated as a new access point.

Actually it is a WN2000RPTv1, which does not have the option to act as a access point. Even so, I would like to have a different frequency for the repeated signal. Without this, null spots pop up about half way between the repeater and the main router.

Hello Raymac

The extender follows the channel that the router is using so no way to set it specifically on the extender.
