Orbi drops wireless when computer comes out of sleep
I've recently started having issues with my Orbi RBR50 and I'm at a loss at how to diagnose it.
Basically when my computer comes out of sleep, internet stops working until it corrects itself after 2-5 minutes. The router is not resetting or restarting, as 'uptime' doesn't start over.
The internet drop usually happens the first time in the morning the computer comes out of sleep, but it can happen randomly throughout the day even if the computer isn't coming out of sleeping.
Every single time, I can look in the logs and this particular computer issues a DHCP request right before the drop. Usually a couple of them.
This used to happen 1-2 times a week and I was living with it. But now it happens every day. The major change is kids are out of school and using networking more.
Has anyone else experienced this symptom and can point me to how to diagnose it? I don't know how to know if the DHCP or increased utilization is a cause, symptom or red herring.
Here's what I have:
- ORBI is in router mode connected to cable modem (I don't have access here).
- Firmware of both Router and Satellite is 2.7.2.104
- This was happening before the firmware update. I did a fresh factory reset after the new version, but it did not resolve
- both 2.4G and 5G bands are using the same SSID
- transmit power for both bands are at 50% power.
- Satellite sits ~40 feet from the router on the same level.
- Computer in question is ~3ft from the satellite.
- Daisy-chain is off, as is MU-MIMO, fast roaming, and 20/40 Co-existence
- the computer in question is reserved an IP.
- connection via ethernet cable to the satellite doesn't make a difference
- Circle was enabled, so I disabled it. No improvement.
Basically besides the drops being tied to this one computer issuing a DHCP request, I've been unable to dig further.
