My brand new EX6200 has had the latest firmware applied and is generally functioning fine in all respects. Except... I've noticed that it is using Wifi channel 2, which directly clashes with the router it is extending, so of course I'd like to change that. But the Wireless settings screen has the channel selection as Auto and this setting is greyed out - I cannot change it. I see that other people are able to edit this, which is as it should be. But why can't I? I've searched online, in the manual and here, but I seem to be unique with this problem. If I can't change it, this unit is useless to me, the channel 2 clash makes using the signal an unreliable and sometimes painful experience (for example, it sometimes pauses for ages on "obtaining IP address" when my clients try to connect.22KViews2likes2CommentsNetgear A6210 internet drops
So, I just got the Netgear A6210 network adapter for Christmas because I was having problems with my old one and it works great but the only problem is I'm getting internet drops randomly for like a second or two and then it comes back. It's hardly noticeable when browsing the net, but when it comes to gaming it can be really frustrating. I have already looked up if anyone else has had a problem with this but have seen nothing. I should note the drivers are updated and I am running the adapter on Windows 8.1. I'm not entirely sure if it's my computer or the adapter, I'm just assuming it's the adapter as the last one I had didn't have this issue. If anyone knows anything that could help I could really use it, thanks.55KViews1like45CommentsEX6200 need to reboot every 5 days!!
Latest firmware sees the EX6200 needing a reboot every five days, why?? I have been waiting for netgear to send a returns advice but nothing received, this is month three. Also with the new firmware (latest) the 2.4 Ghz light is orange then it just doesn't connect other than doing a reboot. Then it fails all over again. If its not fixed I am going to Lynksys, this is nothing more than rubbish. Fix it!!AC1200 cannot connect to WIFI network
Hi, I just got a new AC1200 adapter for my laptop, to be able to connect to a 5 GHZ home network. My router is a Netgear VEGN2610 (http://www.netgear.com/service-providers/products/telco/gateways/vegn2610.aspx) that is dual-band and has 2 networks - 2.4 and 5 ghz. I have installed latest drivers from the internet (using Windows 8.1). When attempting to connect i am getting VERY LOW signal for the 5ghz network, and the connection fails. The 2.4ghz network is about the same performance as the one with the internal wifi adapter of my laptop (Dell XPS 17 L702x). What's going on ? i assumed 5ghz and the latest WIFI standards should offer better range and performance. Why isn't it working ? I wanted to consult with the forums before i contact Amazon to return the product.15KViews1like1CommentLoosing connection AC 1200
Will I am kind of disappointed with my new AC 1200 . I had bought this to replace my netgear 3000 expander I had for 2 years. Had build a new 3 bedroom house 30x54 raise ranch house and the modem comes in in the basement by the power box I also ran 2 cat 5 cables from bedroom 2 and 3 to the modem and in the living room I have a smart tv and a xbox . My 3000 was plug in at the wall where a closet and 2 small bedrooms away from the comcast wifi modem is in the basment. I would stream videos to my tv from my pc an would at times be choppy and game playing the xbox would get disconnected from the internet. I'm thinking that I will have to run a cat 5 or a 6 from the living room to the modem. I bought the AC 1200 thinking it would be a lot better than my 3000 "not". I saw I was getting 38% where my 3000 is the modem and 100% to my xbox and tv and tried bedroom 3 and pick up at 64% but was back in loosing connection to the tv and xbox? So even in spending the money on a powerful expander and having a unfinished basement with all the air ducts and wires and pipes it does not work unless your on the same level as the modem. So now that I have to run a cat5 from the living room will a wifi router be better to connect in the living room or just add a cat5 splitter to the tv an xbox , I did want wifi thru out the house. :mad:9.7KViews1like1CommentNetgear A6210 not showing 5ghz band
Good afternoon, I recently purchased a Netgear R7000 Nighthawk to make use of the high speed 5ghz band, only to find out that my usb adapter (A6210) is unable to view it as an available network. I can connect to the 2.4ghz band perfectly fine ( averages about 165mbit/s), but the 5ghz is nowhere to be found. I tried updating the genie software, uninstalling and re-installing the software and the drivers without success. I also contacted live support but was quickly turned down since apparently my 90 day support expired 4 days ago. Has anybody had a similar experience with this adapter? The only reason I purchased the nighthawk was for its raving reviews and coverage, which my a6210 cannot utilize. In comparison, my Macbook air connects from the same exact distance to the router's 5ghz band with a perfect signal. I am using Windows 7 professional, and the distance between usb adapter and router is aprox. 10 feet, with a dry wall in between. When I switch the device's properties in windows control panel from 2.4 and 5ghz bands to only show 5ghz bands, there are no connections available. Is it possible that there is a hardware problem with the 5ghz band? Thank you.31KViews1like3Commentsvirtual MAC addresses?
I saw another thread here that says that the EX6200 extender assigns so-called "virtual MAC addresses" to its clients. This might be why my laptop and iPad can't connect to wifi - I have MAC filtering turned on on the main router, and these virtual MAC addresses aren't registered. How do I figure out what they are, so that I can allow them?27KViews1like3CommentsBrother MFC9840CDW Drops Wifi Connection - Offline
My current setup is below: http://forum1.netgear.com/showthread.php?t=91552 I have a Brother MFC9840CDW printer that will not stay connected to my wifi. It drops after about 1-2 minutes. I've had it for years and it's only recently started this. I am not sure what's going on. Any suggestions on what I can try? My next solution is to buy another EX600 and put it by my printer to plug it in via Ethernet.Stuck at 54Mbps
I setup my R6300 a couple months back and have been using it in conjunction with the N900 USB adapter and getting pretty reasonable speeds. I recently got the A6200 adapter and connecting to the same network, I'm limited to connecting at only 54Mbps. If I switch back to the other adapter, the speeds go up. I'm running Windows 8 and using the latest Windows 8 Beta driver. Any insight as to what's going on?31KViews1like13CommentsConnects with 802.11n not 802.11ac
I am using a Netgear R6200 router with an A6200 usb adapter on Windows 8 64-bit in the 5GHz band, and it connects using 802.11n. I cannot find any options for using 802.11ac and in the A6200 WiFi Adapter properties I don't even see a reference to 802.11ac. Does anyone know what I setting I need to change to get 802.11ac?22KViews1like12Comments
