How do I recover the data from the 2 RAID-1 disks that used to be a ReadyNAS 102 (FW 6.5.0)? I have SATA-to-USB cradle/cable and run a Windows 10 PC. Basically, after the upgrade to FW 6.5.0, the system became unstable: (1) it crashed every few hours; (2) rebooting would often hang with a blinking power button, and I couldn'tg reach my volume; (3) if it did boot all the way, and I could reach my volume, the power button would still keep blinking, and soon the volume would become unreachable. So I pulled the 2 disks out (configured as RAID-1 and tried re-installing the OS through the boot menu. Now, nothing works. When I re-insert the same two disks, RAIDar is able to detect the chassis, but shows no disks. AND the power button perpetually blinks. Thus, I've decided that I should give up trying to read the disks in the RN102 and just recover the data from the disks manually using my PC. At no point did I do a factory reset, so all the data should still be on my two disks. How do i recover the data from the 2 RAID-1 disks using my PC?Solved23KViews0likes25CommentsReadyNAS Ultra 6 expansion
Hello all, first off, hats off to Netgear for their products and to all of you for creating this amazingly resourceful forum. However, I have two specific questions regarding my setup I haven't been able to find here yet. Here goes. My setup is ReadyNAS Ultra 6 in X-RAID2 mode with 6 x 2TB discs, giving me 9250GB of space. Probably redudant info, but I'm running on latest firmware and RAIDiator. I'm now at 99% capacity so I'd like to expand. My first thought was to replace my six 2TB drives with six 3TB drives, but then I had the idea to get four 4TB drives. Costs are approx. the same. Question 1: is there a good reason to choose either of the two options? What would you choose and why? Question 2: going from 6 x 2TB to 6 x 3TB is easy. Take one disc out, put a new one in. Let the NAS resync, reboot, etc, and do the other drives the same way. Gonna take a while, but it's easy. What about the 4 x 4TB option though? After replacing the first four 2 TB drives with the four new 4TB drives, can I just pull out the last two 2TB drives safely? Bonus question: I'm reading a lot about the 16TB capacity limit. Will I encounter this problem with either setup? I'm not willing/able to do a factory reset. Hope everything is clear and you guys can help me out. if you need any additional info, please ask. Just in case it's useful: my current drives are Samsung HD204UI's, the new ones will be WD RED's. With many thanks, Ruud15KViews0likes13CommentsMoving drives to a new chassis
We have a RN312 in RAID1 configuration which we use for sharing some folders and also for providing iSCSI drives to a couple of Windows machines. We are thinking of buying another RN312 chassis (with no drives) as a replacement, just in case the power supply of the main RN312 gets burned. The question is: Is there any way to move the drives from a supposed faulty unit to the replacement chassis and have the new unit to recognize the LUNs for iSCSI? I mean, I have seen that I can backup RN configuration to a USB (and that will copy things as users, shares, IP, etc.) but will that copy LUNs and iSCSI associations as well? and what about RAID configuration? If not, can you think of any way to do this in order to be able to move the drives from one faulty chassis to another empty one the more transparent way and with minimum re-configuration of the new unit? Thanks in advance!!!Solved13KViews0likes16CommentsMissing support f ReadyNAS RND4000 v3 !!
Help ! I cannot find ANY support on NETGEAR pages that explicitly is valid for my RND4000 v3 When i search for ReadyNAS NV+, i only get v1 and v2 as possible selections. It is the same on many different pages (FAQs, downloads, etc, etc) WHY ? My problem is this: I have run it with X-RAID on 4 x 1TB SAMSUNG HD:s for more than a year w no problems. But now it is almost full. Bought 4 x 3TB Seagate ST3000DM001 this summer after i found it specified on a "harddisk compability list". But I have struggled with making second backups of all data until last week. So, now, finally, I i "hotswapped" slot 4. The NAS logged "Disk fail event" and "Disk add event" as expected. Then logged "The disk attached to channel 4 could not be used. The most common reasons are RAID resync in progress, faulty drives, and disks that are too small to be added to the array" I assumed it was in resync progress. The NAS where (is) still online, fully functional, all as it should. (But now unprotected) But after flashing with LED 4 and not showing anywhere in RAIDar (Frontview) any sign of it being resyncing for over 34 hours, I shut it down and rebooted, hoping this would initialize the new disk. But after reboot it went into exactly the same status. After another 12 hours, I ordered a firmware update from Frontview including a volume scan. So it did, upgrading firmware from 4.1.7 to 4.1.13. It took 4,5 hours to perform the volume scan, displaying "Volume FS 01% --> 99%" And then went into exactly the same status again. LED 4 is flashing and there is nowhere I can see a "resync" status. So my questions obviously: * Where/how can I see if it is in a "resync" progress ? * Is it actually resyncing and it will take more than 38 hours ? * I cannot find my RND4000 v3 in the Harddisk Compatibility List selections again. Where is it !? * Why is there no support page for RND4000 v3 as there is for v1 and v2 ? Please advice !!! // Peter13KViews0likes12CommentsData Volume lost after disk replacement on Readynas Pro 6
Hi, I just ran into a serious problem, and I hope someone can help me. Currently my Readynas Pro 6 does not see any volume on the 6 disk X-Raid Array anymore. I walked past my NAS a couple of hours ago and saw the display flashing with the message that the volume was degraded. A bit strange as I had not gotten any warning on disk degradation before. I identified the disk (#2) and replaced it with a spare which I had ready for such occasions. After the rebuild was finished the readynas displayed the message that the volume was still degraded: some 5 to 10 minutes later the readynas identified disk 5 to be replaced. Two disks at the same time? I did not have another spare disk so I thought to start a scrub to see if that would make any difference. During the scrub my NAS switched off on the timer. When I restarted it it had lost its X-Raid array. Would anyone have any idea if I can fix this? The nas pro6 runs 6.2.4., the admin interface works fine, I have access to the logfiles. I had some issues (I think Crashplan updates filled up my root mount causing it to no longer boot) that drove me to factory default. I have updated to OS 6.7.1 while I was at it. In the process I created the XRaid data volume on a 3TB drive just for testing. I then added the remaining drives and began setting up my shares and getting Crashplan setup again. The volume was resyncing and I thought nothing of it until today when it finished. It only accepted the 3TB drives and I am not seeing a way to add the 3 X 2TB drives to that volume. Is there a way to do that? Can I create a new volume with the 3 X 2TB drives, Copy the data from the 3 X 3TB drive volume to the new volume, delete the current data volume and then add the 3 X 3TB drives back to the new volume? Or should I just start over again (really the last option in my book)?Solved11KViews0likes13CommentsUnable to create RAID 0 volume on ReadyNAS duo v2 with two disks
I have a ReadyNAS duo v2 with two identical 3TB disks that used to be running X-RAID2. I want to change it to RAID 0, so that I will have a single 6TB volume (without redundancy). I've tried multiple times to run factory reset and then select RAID 0 at setup. However every time the NAS starts up with RAID 1. I've also tried a factory reset with only one disk in the NAS. Then the system starts up with RAID 0. However I don't know if it's possible to expand this volume by inserting a second disk. Best regards, EirikSolved11KViews0likes8CommentsNo volume exists
Hi, I have a Readynas RN10400 with firmware version 6.9.4 It has 4 x Seagate NAS ST3000VN000 disk drives orginally X-RAID but since issue the system shows RAID 5 and zero free space. Following a lost admin password I did an OS reset using the boot menu method described at: https://kb.netgear.com/22891/How-do-I-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-ReadyNAS-104-204-214-or-314 and now unable to access my data. When I login to the admin page using the default admin/password there is a message indicating that "No volumes exsist" and a recomendation to create one before continuing. There is also a notification informing me to remove inactive volums to use disk. Disk #1,2,3,4 (see screenshot at: https://i.imgur.com/68bHrlB.png) but at this stage I have not removed any disks in case I do additional damage. This was my primary (and only) backup device so I'm hoping someone can help retrieve my data. Present config: ReadyNAS Pro Business Edition [X-RAID2] RAIDiator 4.2.30 X-RAID2, 5 disks, 66% of 3693 GB used (5 x 1 TB drives) I have a backup of my user data on another NAS I wish to replace all 5 drives with 3 new ones (HGST 4TB HUS724040ALE640 UltraStar 7K4000). I've done some reading here and I think I power down, pull the old drives and install the new ones, power back up into a factory reset. How does the machine find "RAIDiator 4.2.30" and install it? How do i tell the machine to use X-RAID2 and format the drives? How will I access the machine again? (default IP? default user id/poassword?) If this is all written up somewhere in the dusty archives please point me there. Otherwise if someone can offer advice on this old machine please do so... Thanks Jim11KViews0likes13Comments
