realtime bandwidth monitoring by device
It would be great if you could see realtime bandwidth per device for the netgear r7000, similar to Google Wifi and Eero. It would be a really useful info and diagnostic tool to see what devices are currently taking up bandwidth. It would be great if this was added to the router web administration page as well theNetgear Genie and/or Netgear Up apps. I've attached a screenshot of how this feature looks on Google Wifi.(Outgoing) VPN client functionality
Hi, I am using a VPN service on my devices for privacy purposes, but I hoped it would be possible to set the router up as a VPN endpoint so that the connection would be transparent to the devices. In addition to being easier to maintain one connection, opposed to separate connections per device, I would also think this would be more secure: With a kill switch in the router, the devices would lose internet access and be unable to use an unsecure connection. It would also probably save the smartphone battery as the VPN app wouldn't have to be active continously. This functionality would be helpful even if it was implemented without any advanced features, however I see that it could potentially be expanded with more advanced functionality as following steps. The background: I'm using a shared internet connection going through my landlord's router, and I like to use VPN to protect my privacy. I hope this is something you could consider. I think it would be pretty awesome if Netgear made their Network devices like the Netgear Orbi support the free software called Pi-Hole via an app/plugin support feature on the device itself. For those that dont know Pi-Hole is a FREE network wide ad blocker that you install on a Raspberry Pi and then after its installed on Raspberry Pi you connect the Raspberry Pi to your router and setup the Raspberry Pi as the DNS server. I would love to see Netgear make Pi-Hole compatible with their devices without having to buy a Raspberry Pi, maybe add it as a plugin or addon that you can install on Netgear devices? Versions till .46 (which is hard to find on your server, as normally are hidden) provide full speed. Hallo zusammen, bei meinem D6000 Router kommt eine Fehlermeldung, wenn ich für das 2,5 und 5 GHz Netzwerk die gleiche SSID vergeben möchte, daß der Name bereits vergeben sei. Es ist also nicht möglich für beide Netzwerke die gleiche SSID zu verwenden. Dies wurde auch bereits vom Support getestet und bestätigt. Nach Rückfrage bei der Ingenieurabteiling hieß es dann: "Diese Einstellungsmöglichkeit bezieht sich auf die Spezifikation des Routers." Es wurde mir vorgeschlagen, meinen Wunsch auf Nachbesserung in der Firmware hier zu posten. Wenn genügend Leute auch diesen Wunsch haben, stehen die Chancen wahrscheinlich besser, daß eine neue Firmware entwickelt wird.Added Router Model Support to Nighthawk App
Currently had ongoing long discussions via Netgear Support over the fact I cannot use the Nighthawk app with my D7800 Nighthawk 4S AC2600 Wifi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router. Support here has been very drawn out, as I am currently using VDSL, but needed to boost my signal for external security cameras outside the home, so am using the above router with Orbi to ensure I get 100% wifi. Due to the fact Orbi is cable, I am using both my VDSL router/Orbi, and have been moving devices from the router to the Orbi for Wifi, but its hard to see which devices are still linked to the router Wifi and which are using Orbi (Even with Attached Devices). Ticket was raised and I was told to use the Nighthawk App, however this fails to recognise my router, eventually I was told to reapply the firmware so it was detected, but then a response to my ticket today, has advised me that this Nighthawk Model is not compatible with the App, and to get this raised as a suggestion. This is the response I got in my ticket "The Nighthawk App doesn't support D7800 or any Netgear DSL Modem/Router as of this time. I deeply apologize." It would seem this is needs to be sorted, since the router is a Nighthawk Model, but yet the app is of no use, to me, especially when I was advised to download it several times and use this to monitor and modify my routers configuration, plus for any changes.
