I can access my ReadyNAS 314 - 6.2.2 fine through ready cloud with the first entered user name(admin) but no users have been able to ever. They keep getting "currently you have no registered or shared devices" I have deleted them, readded them, turned readycloud on & off, rebooted, reinstall firmware, and factory reset (twice). I have even changed router/modems. I am hoping (and should be able to) to set up access for my family for backup & share files online. I apparently have something sinister going on. For the shares I have SMB & HTTP protocols setup on them. Is there a port forwarding I am missing (I have none)? Hi. I have two RN104 models. One on my LAN in my office and one in a customer's office 22 miles away. The RN104 in my office is being used to store my media collection, a file server for my business and (in testing) a backup service to a small number of customers. The remote is a customer's main storage and file share which I maintain and am currently 'watching' due to problems with disk-based backups. Both devices suddenly appeared as Offline in the desktop client for me sometime yesterday. I then got a phone call from an irate customer complaining he couldn't access his backup to retrieve a file he needed (which I then accessed locally and emailed him). This problem would have also prevented me from monitoring the problematic backup on the remote device if I didn't have VNC access and was able to access the NAS via a PC in their office. Anyway, I left it for sometime hoping the service would return but alas no! Then I thought, just a moment ago, has the ReadyCLOUD function been somehow disabled? Sure enough, both devices have had their ReadyCLOUD function turned off. So my questions are . . . Why have both devices had their ReadyCLOUD function turned off? I didn't do it and I'm the only person with admin access to both devices and they both have different, complex passwords which change regularly. If this has occured due to a problem at NETGEAR, for example, a wide-ranging hack or someone 'accidentally pressing the wrong button' will you please let me know. I need to have confidence in this kit as I am installing and maintaining them for customers. Is it safe to turn the ReadyCLOUD function back on? I've seen recent reports of people complaining that their data has been lost or compromised. I need to use the ReadyCLOUD client on a daily basis to manage my devices. Thanks.Solved6.8KViews1like11CommentsTips for merging photos and movies from multiple cameras and renaming to a common date format
Sharing my command line use of Exiftool to rename my photos and movies from multiple sources so I can merge them and create a common media library. Examples of this, including the format of media that occur in the same second: 2016-06-16 19.28.01.jpg 2016-06-16 19.28.02-1,jpg 2016-06-16 19.28.02-2.jpg 2016-06-26 11.06.08.mov Here is what I do at the command line after changing to the directory containing the media to be renamed: -- Start by renaming photos with a JPG extension -- Use the EXIF CreateDate or "Date Taken" "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<CreateDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" IMG*.jpg -- Then rename photos with a PNG extension - but these probably don't have EXIF data but try anyway -- Use the EXIF CreateDate or "Date Taken" "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<CreateDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" *.png -- then rename the photos using the file system dates (a little dangerous) for any reamining ones -- use the FileModifyDate "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<FileModifyDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" "IMG*.JPG" "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<FileModifyDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" "IMG*.PNG" -- RENAME movies using TrackCreateDate "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileModifyDate<TrackCreateDate" "-FileName<TrackCreateDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" *.mov "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileModifyDate<TrackCreateDate" "-FileName<TrackCreateDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" *.mp4 "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileModifyDate<TrackCreateDate" "-FileName<TrackCreateDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" *.WMV -- if no EXIF data for movies, use file system information. change prefix to limit to files not yet changes "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<FileModifyDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" IMG*.mov "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<FileModifyDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" IMG*.avi "C:\Program Files (x86)\exiftool-9.78\exiftool(-k).exe" "-FileName<FileModifyDate" -d "%Y-%m-%d %H.%M.%S%%-c.%%e" vid*.wmv2.6KViews1like1CommentReadyCLOUD not connecting
I upgraded my Mac Book Pro and IMAC (both on Sierra 10.12.1) to ReadyCloud 1.4 and now it will not connect. When I use the Readycloud app, it shows "Disconnected" when I try to access the admin page through the readycloud.netgear.com after I am logged in, I get "The admin page can only be accessed with you on the same network LAN as your device". When logged in through the readycould.netgear.com web page I can access by music, pictures etc.. but I cannot get to the admin page as I mentioned. Accessing the Readynas through my IPAD works using the ReadyCloud app. Using Netgear RAIDar finds the Readynas displaying the serial number, healthy status, firmware 6.6.0, IP address and both drives with check marks. I cannot access using the shown IP address using either Chrome or Safari as it trys and then comes back with the message page that it might be too busy, it maybe booting up etc. If I try the discover page and hold the backup button for 5 seconds it finds the ReadyNAS and then when you hit the "manage" button it goes through the same "connecting to the ReadyNAS admin page", it times out and comes back with the same message as above (maybe busy, rebooting etc.) I have tried reloading the Readycloud app on both the IMAC and the Mac Book Pro with the same results. I have even rebooted the ReadyNAS 212 twice with the same results. Rebooted the entire network, same result. Note that everything was working fine until I did the upgrade to 1.4 and nothing else has changed. What next???4.2KViews1like9Commentsno registered devices
There are no satisfactory answers thus far in the community about solving no registered devices for a readynas 10400 readycloud is activated on the nas port 6200 is open on the router firewall and readycloud and raidar are allowed in windows firewall I press the button and it says discovery on still cannot get readynas discovered in readycloudSolved10KViews1like36CommentsRecently updated firmware on RN104 now users not able to backup pics from phone with Rcloud
I use the ReadyNAS 104 for my family to backup photos. I made sure everyone had a mynetgear.com account upgrade and they were able to access/backup their photos. The firmware up for 6.5.2 was available so I went ahead and updated. I was not connecting from my phone, i logged out and back in, seemed to work fine. My wife asked me to troubleshoot her phone and I could not see the Readynas. i've logged her out and back in. Deleted readycloud and reinstalled on the phone. created new folders in readynas and invited her. No success. Can you please let me know how to add my family members back in.4.3KViews1like7CommentsNV+ RND4000 end of life... upgrade to ReadyNAS OS 6?
I got an email stating that my nas is being EOL and I should upgrade to ReadyNAS OS 6 Excerpt: "While these systems will continue to operate, we recommend that you upgrade to a ReadyNAS OS 6 storage system. These storage systems feature significantly improved hardware specifications and performance." How can I do that for my version since I have the NV v1?Solved5.2KViews1like2CommentsReadyCloud does not connect (Apps or portal)
I have two 516's and they are both on the same network (for now). The firmware is updated and they run fine when I am in the office and connected via hardwire or WiFi. But, when away from the office I can't connect to see the files with the portal or app. Maybe 1 out of 50 tries I get a connection. The portal show the devices but wont show the files. The app logs in without a problem and will try to connect for up to 5 minutes before the program closes itself. I have reinstalled the app. The mobile client does not connect either. Please help because I need to work remotely with the files! Is there an easier/faster way to connect directly to the devices? Replicate runs everynight to backup to other other machine and never seems to have a problem.3.9KViews1like4CommentsDo I need ReadyCLOUD?
I will soon be receiving a new ReadyNAS which will presumably run the current version of OS 6. I will be using the device for sharing confidential data within my local network, but I have no intention of setting up cloud access through the internet and - least of all - using a cloud service run by someone else, including Netgear. This also includes the backup of the data on my NAS, which I will perform only on locally attached, external drives. From whai I have seen in the internet, you use ReadyCLOUD to set up and administer your OS 6 ReadyNAS. I assume that this means that you have to identify yourself towards ReadyCLOUD, and that your login credentials will be stored 'somewhere'. Does this also imply that I will be at an increased risk of intrusion into my ReadyNAS through the internet? Which of the operations performed through the ReadyCLOUD interface will make my locally stored data accessible through the internet? Which may cause storage of local data on the ReadyCloud server? Finally: Do I need to use ReadyCLOUD at all? Are there alternative methods for setting up and administering my ReadyNAS? Of course, I do not want to be paranoid about data protection. But I neet do make sure who will have access to what, and where pttential gaps are. And there is so little 'substantial' information available about ReadyCLOUD and potential security issues ... Thank you, Andreas7.2KViews1like5CommentsSo much trouble trying to get readyCLOUD to work!
Hi there As a non-pro user I have to say I'm finding this whole process extremely frustrating and needlessly time-consuming. Initially the setup seemed to be going relatively well - I got as far as setting up my ReadyNAS 201 on my home network and have been able to successfully initiate the (extremely slow) Time Machne backup feature. I can see the drives on my network and save and retrieve files and folders from my mac without any issue. It's disppointingly slow, but it works. But readyCLOUD? Jees! This program is going to give me a hernia. Firstly, the documentation provided in the manual is wwoefully inadequite. For starters, "joining readyCLOUD" is in a completely different part of the document to the rest of the information about readyCLOUD, meaning that you have to jump backwards and forwards through many pages of text whenever they refer to eachother. Then, the information only gives a cursory overview of how to sign up and add users, but says nothing about the network settings needed in order for the NAS to be visible online. Do I need to set up a static IP? Doesn't say. What happens when the device isn't visible? No idea. Troubleshooting page? Nope. Bearing in mind I am NOT a techie, just a home user (supposedly who this product is aimed at) trying to get the damn thing to work. So here are the problems I'm having: - When I fist set up my readycloud account, I followed the instructions to disover my device (press backup button for 5 seconds, discover), and this worked fine. But when I then went to the Home or Manage pages I just saw a message saying "currently you have no registered or shared devices". There was no help available for this on readyCLOUD, so I googled it, and found a few threads which mentioned something about needing port forwarding or setting the routers IP, all of which doesn't mean very much to me (and none of which is mentioned in the manual). But in any case, their problem was not the same as mine, as they were saying the device was showing as offline, whereas my cloud services had green ticks showing they were Available and Online. - Next I turned off readyCLOUD, restarted the NAS, turned readyCLOUD back on and removed my user account in the Users box. I then logegd onto readyCLOUD and deleted my user account, before creating a new one under a different name. I then went through the whole process again of discovering the device on readyCLOUD, and ensuring the user was added in the Users box. At frist it didn't work, but when I then clicked on invite user and followed THAT link back to readyCLOUD where I logged in again, suddently my NAS was now visible in the Home and Manage pages. Success! - However, my joy was shotlived. This morning, about an hour after starting my mac up, I got a message from time machine saying it can't find the drive. I then tried to log into the admin page and found that I couldn't access that - my broswer gave me the message that the IP address didn't exist. I then tried logging into readyCLOUD and lo and behold, I now get the message that robNAS is offline. So I restart the NAS, and thankfully now I can log into the admin page again and time machine works, but on readyCLOUD the device is still showing as offline. I logged into the admin page and now the Cloud section has a message saying "services offline" with a big red cross. I've changed nothing since last night when it worked, so what gives? I'm getting so frustrated with this whole thing that I feel like crying. Could I ask someone to please explain to me in layman's terms what I need to do to get this readyCLOUD to work? Like, from beginning to end, including anything I need to set up / change in my network settings. Thank you in advance. My readyNAS software version is 6.4.04.6KViews1like6Comments
