71 TopicsHow far away can you place the Orbi Satellite?
I have a detached garage with a guest apartment above. It sits about 80 feet from my existing Comcast modem and Apple router in my 3500 SF house. I have tried two Netgear extenders with poor results. I want to be able to use a laptop, mobile devices, and Amazon Firestick in detached apartment. Will Orbi work for this application? If so, how far away can I place the satellite from the base? Will I need a second satellite for the house?
Kann mir jemand erklären, was passiert?
61). Sapreste aiutarmi?Solved10KViews0likes3CommentsUnidentified Network through wired connection
Hi, I've been having trouble getting a wired connection with my Netgear Extender after we replace our Xfinity router due to the previous one being fried during a storm. It's been giving me Unidentified Network/ Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration. My current setup is a Cisco Xfinity Modem/Router Hybrid Model DPC3941T in the main office on the main floor and the EX7300 Netgear Extender in the basement set up as an extender. WiFi is strong and is working normally, only the wired connection is giving me a hard time. I have some knowledge/experience with troubleshooting and have already tried most of the basic troubleshooting steps to see what was wrong. - Factory reset the extender / modem / router - Replaced ethernet cable - Used a switch between the extender and computer - Did multiple ipconfig /release /renew with no results - Did the netsh commands to reset TCP/IP reset - Uninstalled the network driver / reinstalled with the current driver / tried using older driver - Did sfc /scannow - Gave the extender a static IP - Gave the computer a static IP / 10.0.0.1 / 192.168.1.1 / 192.168.0.1 as gateways I am getting a connection from the ethernet port on the EX7300 so it's not hardware related and more on the computer side. I've probably visited hundreds of sites and forums and tried the solutions there but my situation stayed the same. Here's my ipconfig /all Windows PowerShell Copyright (C) 2016 Microsoft Corporation. I purchased this system 2 months ago and in our 2500 sq ft, 3 level home, coverage and performance have been exceptional, however once you go outside to our patio - which is less than 25' away from the satellite unit - we have seen a major problem with Skype/FaceTime performance (freezing, choppiness etc), which I want to deal with. For this particular scenario I do not feel the purchase of another Orbi satellite is warranted, but I am looking for advice on making this work. I do not have LAN port installed outside, so this would have to be an extender/AP device solution I would think. I was thinking of getting one of the Netgear range extenders, but I honestly don't know if this is going to make my setup overly complex, and if I can get integration to the point of having a seamless transition from Orbi to extender connectivity if someone is, for example, walking with iPad on FaceTime in the house then walks out to the patio where the signal was degraded before. I have read many negative accounts of people trying to do this, so I am hoping that the `Orbi users' can provide some real world context for me on how they solved this issue. Thanks in advance, DanWill Orbi Satellite work with existing Netgear Nighthawk X8 router?
I recently purchased a Nighthawk X8 router, so I don't need an extra router. My X8 is placed in the center room of our house. Our home built in 1926, is 3,000sq' it has older plaster walls & the wi-fi reception barely reaches through more than 1 wall. Wireless repeaters didn't seem to work, nor the powerline extenders, so I just had someone hardwire a Netgear AC1200 in order to have wi-fi in the family room. Seems to work great but the signal drops near the rear of the house, so I'm thinking to either hardwire another extender as an additional access point, but I would like to have a single mesh network, which switches automatically (so we don't have to sign on to the extensions whenever we move about the house with a laptop) Can I create a single mesh network using the X8 & the AC1200 I just purchased? Or I see the new Orbi Satellite which looks great & has the capability of a single mesh network, but will it be compatible with my existing Netgear Nighthawk X8 router?EX7300 randomly drops connection
I have a netgear WNDR4500v3 that works great. I've had it now for a year and I'm very happy. I had an old extender 2.4Ghz only for a while and it worked ok, but was a little slow and when a number of devices connected it started having issues, so I upgraded to an EX7300 recently. I installed it recently and configured it to use 5G-only with the router and 2.4G only with client devices. The setup went smoothly, all my devices connected fine and it seemed to work fine for a week or so. A couple of days ago it looked like I lost internet connection, but instead it was the extender not working. I didn't have time to check right away, but a couple of hours later all was working again so I didn't bother. It happened again today, I logged into the router and the extender was not listed among the "attached devices". I power cycled and now everything seems to be working OK. I don't see anything strange in the logs of the router and I can't find the logs in the extender. I saw another post about changing channels, but since I'm using two separate bands I assume that's not my issue. Any ideas?Solved8.7KViews0likes5CommentsNetgear WP2000RPTv2 I think was hacked or hijacked.
Trying to access the EXT and it came up with 401 Unauthorized Your client does not have permission to get URL /cgi-bin/check_hijack.html from this server. I reset it and went back and tried to use the WPS to reconnect to the DSL router. If would not. Then I did a manual setup. Seems to work. Reading the manual, it says change the default admin/password to something else. Did this not change with the manual setup to match my DSL? If not, I have not found any way to access this to change the default. The internet has all Netgear router/extender default access codes so anyone can hack into Netgear items and tells you how to do so. How can I protect this unit? My Netgear ADSL2+ from ATT I have changed the default but do not find a way in the EXT unit.7.8KViews0likes1CommentMy wifi extender will not reset with factory reset button WN3000RPv3
