I have a detached garage with a guest apartment above. It sits about 80 feet from my existing Comcast modem and Apple router in my 3500 SF house. I have tried two Netgear extenders with poor results. I want to be able to use a laptop, mobile devices, and Amazon Firestick in detached apartment. Will Orbi work for this application? If so, how far away can I place the satellite from the base? Will I need a second satellite for the house?SolvedPLW1000 slow internet speeds

The installation seems satisfactory (blue lights for WEP, power and router link), but I can not connect devices to the extended network. I have a Roku stick, Kindle Fire 10, and iPhone7 that I would like to use in the area of low signal. They show the 5Ghz channel in their options but when I select it, neither of the connection lights on the extender come on at all.1KViews0likes1CommentCan I use my 5ghz channel over the extender?
My Netgear 6100 router has 2.5 and 5 ghz channels. I'm using a WN3000 rpv3 extender to reach a difficult area. My current setup sends only the 2.5 ghz channel to the remote area. Can I "attach" the extender to the 5 ghz channel, or is that beyond its capability? How do I make that change in the router or the extender (if I can)?3.8KViews0likes1CommentHardwire the EX7000 instead of wirelessly connecting to the router?
I’m going to try my best to explain my current situation as best as possible since I’m not entirely tech savvy or literate. My current situation is that there are devices that need to be hardwired but the devices are located in separate rooms. One device in my room and one in my brother’s. Now I know that I can use the EX7000 to wirelessly connect to my router and just use the Ethernet ports but doing that cuts down on download speeds. So I was wondering if I can use the Ethernet port in my room and plug the extender into that so I won’t have to wirelessly connect to the router? The current set up is that we have Frontier FiOS and the ONT box is located in our garage. Not sure what that means but the employee from BestBuy said it acts as the modem so that all the Ethernet ports our house can support a router without the need of an actual modem. So currently, all we currently have the Nighthawk X6 plugged into the Ethernet port in my brother’s room and is producing a Wifi signal with internet. We now both have desktops that have no Wifi adapters. So in order to use the internet on our computer we need to be wired. We used to share a room so it was never a problem since the router was in our room but now that we have our own rooms, he kept the router while I have no possible way of accessing internet via wired connection. Since we both game, we prefer a wired connection overall for the best performance. Hence the reason why we never purchased a Wifi adapter for our PC. While trying to look up a solution for my problem, I was constantly seeing answers like using the EX7000 as an access point. However, instructions say to plug it in to a router, which defeats my purpose of buying the extender in the first place since the extender would need to be located in my brother’s room. So long story short, can I hardwire the EX7000 using the Ethernet port in my room so that it can provide internet to my devices that need to be hardwired into the extender?7.1KViews0likes4CommentsEX6150 WiFi range extender drops connection for a few seconds very often.
I have the latest firmware. I'm located a floor above my router and use the EX6150 so that I can get a stronger connection in my room. I've noticed that every hour or so, the connection will drop for a few seconds and then reconnect. I used to own the EX6100 and I never had this problem before. Does anyone have any idea as to what is happening here and why this is happening with the new extender but not the old one? I know that it isn't the extender itself because I also own an EX6400 and the same issue occurs. Things I've tried: - Updated to the latest firmware. - Switched Wifi channels. - Removed devices from my network. - Moved the extender to be slightly closer to my router. - Reset the extender. - Reset the router. - Replaced the ethernet cable the extender connects to my PC with. - Replaced the power strip. I'm really at a loss.1.3KViews0likes1CommentRBS50 How to extend to a shed
Hi Have an Orbi RBK50 and RBS50 and need to connect a wired IP Camera by ethernet to an extender of some sort. The Camera is in a remote shed (25m away from the Orbi Satellite 40m from the Orbi Router) on a different power ring so cant use a powerline extender. I am using a Netgear extender at the moment but it keeps dropping out. When it works it works well but its not reliable as part of my CCTV system. Could someone advise the best product (extender) to use with the Orbi.Laptop and Nexus 7 connect to WN3000RP extender, two LG phones do not
As the title says, a laptop and a Nexus 7 tablet connect fine to a WN3000RP extender when in the same room as the extender. Two newish LG phones cannot. Assigning a fixed IP address to the extender makes no difference. The two LG phones can connect to another wifi extender (different manufacturer) in the same room. Help please.693Views0likes2CommentsAC750 Model EX3110 5g Connection
I cannot for the life of me get my extender to connect to my 5G Wi-Fi option. I have tried resetting it, I've called into tech support and they blame my Internet provider's router and my internet provider blames the extender. Just want to be aware if anyone else has the same issue and if it's been solved. I couldn't find any forums for this particular model. I've only had it for 4 hours and I'm on the verge of smashing it.912Views0likes1Comment
