10 TopicsFTP Folder Names Problem
I can connect to the FTP just fine on my ReadyNAS 204 but the folders are shown with long names full of Unix information. For example a folder that should show up as just "FTP" instead shows up as... (owner id and name replaced) "users;UNIX.mode=0770;UNIX.owner=xxxxx;UNIX.ownername=xxx; FTP" If I try to enter the folder I get the following in the logs... Status: Retrieving directory listing of "/users;UNIX.mode=0770;UNIX.owner=xxxxx;UNIX.ownername=xxx; FTP"... Command: CWD users;UNIX.mode=0770;UNIX.owner=xxxxx;UNIX.ownername=xxx; FTP Response: 550 users;UNIX.mode=0770;UNIX.owner=xxxxx;UNIX.ownername=xxx; FTP: No such file or directory Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing It's trying to access with the full wrong folder name. If I manually try to enter with the correct name "FTP" it works fine. I have the same issue on any client.Solved4.6KViews0likes17CommentsFailed to retrieve directory listing
I'm having some trouble with internal-only FTP. Filezilla authenticates, but I'm unable to browse to the folder. I get the following (minus the hashtags). Status: Resolving address of ###.###.## Status: Connecting to ###.###.#.##:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Logged in Status: Retrieving directory listing... Status: Directory listing of "/" successful Status: Retrieving directory listing of "/users;UNIX.mode=0775;UNIX.owner=33268;UNIX.ownername=administrator; IT"... Command: CWD /users;UNIX.mode=0775;UNIX.owner=33268;UNIX.ownername=administrator; IT Response: 550 /users;UNIX.mode=0775;UNIX.owner=33268;UNIX.ownername=administrator; IT: No such file or directory Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing Status: Disconnected from server The SMB configuration works fine. I only need it internally so I didn't bother with any port forwarding. The FTP client is Filezilla. The logon type is set to normal with passive transfer mode. Here's my ReadyNAS setup. I'm sure it's something simple my coffee-bereft, frazzeled brain is missing.USB Sharing type FTP (via internet) suddenly stopped working
Hi, I have been sucessfully using the FTP via internet setting until one day it just stopped working. After extensive debugging I simply cannot explain it! The URL is ... ftp://myrs.mynetgear.com:1921/shares/ It just won't connect, times out on connection, nothing has changed. All the other sharing options work, including FTP from inside the network! I have tried it with the direct IP and with port 21, and every security setting there is and I still get nothing. Please help as the only option I have left is a warranty claim which seems silly given it's a software problem!Solved3.2KViews0likes7CommentsHow to disable the firewall?
HI, I have a Netgear c7000-100NAS modem and router combo. The firewall in my Netgear device is blocking FTP access to my files. It is a wordpress based site, I can access my dashboard and make changes. However, I can not access my files via FTP. I am using Godaddy’s Manage Wordpress and the only way to access the files are through FTP. They keep the files on their servers. Here is the error I get from my FTP client. An FTP error occurred. Can not make connection to host. User limit reached or not authorized to make connection due to local firewall blocking FTP data. I am using Firezilla for my ftp management. I have also tried it with Dreamweaver’s built in ftp client but still can not access. I have turned off the firewall on my computer. “I am using Mac by the way.” It still did not help. I am using sftp connection and port is 22 My lost option is to go into my Netgear’s Gateway settings and disable the firewall or add a rule to allow access to my ftp. I just do not know how to do that. Can someone help? Where do I go into the geteway settings and what do I change? Thank you13KViews0likes1CommentRN102 remote FTP from webserver, can't connect
Using OS 6.5 I try to connect to a remote webserver via Backup remote FTP. Same configuration works with Filezilla and TLS. The Ready NAS gives an error message when I test the connection. Connection not possible! I'm not shure if OS6.5 does support TLS connections with self signed signatures? The destination is a local share with full and anonmous access for everybody. Any hints are welcome.3.9KViews0likes1CommentIs FrontView ProFTPd Custom Configuration Broken?
I am running ReadyNAS 6.4.2 and need to do some custom configuration for proftpd, beyond what FrontView permits. The default configuration for proftpd is in /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf . This configuration file in turn include multiple conf files from /etc/frontview/proftpd which can be adjusted from FrontView. The /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf includes an instruction not to modify this file directly (presumably because it may change on release and would not be backed up as part of the FrontView configuration). Instead it includes a /etc/frontview/proftpd/proftpd.conf.overrides file where presumably users can override the proftpd configuration without these drawback. So far, fair enough. The problem is that /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf includes /etc/frontview/proftpd/proftpd.conf.overrides as its first line, not its last! So the net effect is that the overrides are overridden by the default rather than overriding the defaults. That is not very useful and can't have been the intention, can it?Solved3.5KViews0likes6CommentsFTP for Clients
I'm trying to setup something a little bit different and am unsure in what direction to create this. What I need is a single SMB share that all of my employees would have access to including all the subfolder. The subfolders of this share is where I'm getting stuck. I need to make it so that there is a subfolder for each one of my company's clients. The subfolders will be accessed with a FTP client but only needs to have access to just their FTP subfolder (like a home folder). Any ideas on how to make this happen would be a big help. I've been using a ReadyNAS 6 Pro for years now and I have always been quite happy with it, but today to my horror I discovered a HUGE security leak in this product. My configuration has the FTP server enabled, for one share, called 'public', which contains files I need other people to have access too. Nothing special. The share has write access too, because I also use it for people to drop stuff off for me, nothing special either. My internet connection isn't fast enough for other people to store large amounts of illegal content. Last two weeks I've been making a backup of my server's full content. The quickest way to do this, is to attache a USB drive, so I don't have to pull all data over the network. An now it turns out that this backup drive, including the full content has been exposed to the whole world! Who knows what has been harvested by 'hackers', bots and criminals! I noticed this because when verifying my files, all kinds of spam files were popping up everywhere. Netgear found it somehow a good idea to share attached USB drives per default with the rest of the world! Help me out here, Netgear, because your support team is hiding behind serial number protected web forms and a maze of links redirecting people to FAQs. I need logs from my NAS to estimate the damag.2.9KViews0likes5CommentsHow to configure FVS318N to transmit NAT'ed LAN IP in FTP tranfers in stead of Firewalls WAN-IP.
I'm having this problem. Remote site is connected to the internet in a fixet, multiple IP-adress MPLS setup. The LAN side is presently protected by a Zyxel Zywall, but for a variety of reasons I want to replace the Zyxel, and for that I chose a NETGEAR FVS318N. Manual: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/FVS318N/FVS318N_RM_26Apr2013.pdf From the LAN-side a device is transferring files to our FTP server, and this has been working as expected with the Zyxel firewall. The files for transfer are being renamed on the receiving FTP-server, after a succesful transmission. Now after the introduction af the FSV318 the rename operation is never completed, and the connection is timing out. I have configured the appropiate incoming firewall rules as well as the NAT translations between LAN- and WAN-IP adresses, and they have been tested to be correct. Routing mode on the NETGEAR FVS318N is set to NAT (p. 29 in the manual) 1. Select Network Configuration > WAN Settings, radio 'NAT' is selected. Neither VPN, Wireless or DHCP are active. Now I belive I have found what causes the error, by looking in the FTP-server's logfile: ----- start NETGEAR ----- Wed Sep 23 21:47:10 2015 300 111.111.111.101 77 /data/upload.file_1442964300.sea a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 21:53:11 2015 301 111.111.111.101 41 /data/upload.file_1442964600.met a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 21:59:12 2015 300 111.111.111.101 41 /data/upload.file_1442964900.met a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 22:05:12 2015 301 111.111.111.101 77 /data/upload.file_1442964900.sea a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c ----- end NETGEAR –------ ----- start ZYXEL ------- Wed Sep 23 22:12:11 2015 1 111.111.111.102 41 /data/upload.file_1442965200.met a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 22:12:18 2015 1 111.111.111.102 41 /data/upload.file_1442965500.met a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 22:18:11 2015 1 111.111.111.102 77 /data/upload.file_1442965200.sea a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c Wed Sep 23 22:18:17 2015 1 111.111.111.102 41 /data/upload.file_1442965800.met a _ i r olh ftp 0 * c ----- end ZYXEL --------- NETGEAR-WAN-IP: 111.111.111.101 LAN-DEVICE-NAT-WAN-IP: 111.111.111.102 LAN-DEVICE-LAN-IP: 192.168.001.102 Incoming firewall rule is mapping 111.111.111.102 to 192.168.001.102, and is verified to work. In the FTP-server logfile it can be seen that when the NETGEAR is used, it (the NETGEAR) transmits its WAN-IP in stead of the NAT'ed WAN-IP of the transmitting LAN device. Since the FTP-client expects an answer to its own IP, it times out, because the response is sent to the WAN-IP of the NETGEAR. Both passive and active ftp has been tested, neither overcomes the problem. So the question is: How do is the NETGEAR FVS318N configured to transmit the NAT'ed WAN-IP of the transmitting LAN device in stead of the WAN-IP of the NETGEAR for FTP transfers? Just as the subject states, the FTP service on my RN102 no longer works after updating to 6.2.5. I go to System->Settings and under services FTP is disabled. I click on FTP, choose the option to enable it and hit apply. The screen refreshes and FTP is STILL disabled. I used to use FTP without issue before updating. :(Solved3KViews0likes2Comments
