My Asus ZenFi Mini (XD4) mesh system allowed me to connect to devices on the local network simply by visiting the IP address of the device I wish to connect to. For example, I am running an application, which is exposed to outside traffic, on 192.168.1.5. I was able to visit that IP from all other devices on my network and reach the web pages the application serves. I had to quickly pick up a Nighthawk MK6W because the Asus router started going bad after some years. However, I could no longer visit 192.168.1.5. I get ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE. A different forum post suggests turning of Access Control entirely, which indeed was the solution to allowing access to that local IP address again. The strange part is that only Windows devices were cut off from being accessible. The Linux servers on my network did not experience this problem when I visited their IPs. My question (and frustration) is, why did this happen in the first place? With Access Control turned on, and no device blocked on my network (totally fresh setup), I would have expected to be able to visit device IP addresses without an issue. Why do I have to turn Access Control off for this functionality to return?Nighthawk mr60 port forwarding problem
I’m trying to set up wireguard with two slate AX routers and I’m having trouble setting up port forwarding on my nighthawk mesh router to set up the server. The instructions I found say to set up the port forwarding using the local ip address of the slate AX server but when I bring up devices in the nighthawk app the slate router isn’t listed. I’m pretty new to this so I’m not sure how to find the correct ip address without seeing the device listed. I tried running Ethernet from my pc to the slate router and using ipconfig to list the default ip but that did not work. Anyone able to help me walk through this process please? For reference I have an Xfinity gateway set to pass through with nighthawk mr60 for my home internet. I’m using two slate AX devices for server and client for my wire guard set up.Is there a way to force a device to use the satellite of Nighthawk MR60/MS60?
I have a Nighthawk MR60 and MS60 setup. They both use the same network SSID, so I can't connect to one or the other. This works great when roaming, but due to the walls in our modular home, the laptop on the far end gets barely any speeds when connected to the router, so I put the satellite closer and it works great, as long as it connects to the satellite. It doesn't always connect to it, is there a way to force that device to only connect to the satellite? https://www.reddit.com/r/NETGEAR/comments/142m3xo/is_there_a_way_to_force_a_device_to_use_theNetgear MR60 in Access Point Mode - use the same network switch for LAN and Internet?
If you're using the MR60 in Access Point Mode, the "internet" port should be plugged into the main house switch that has access to the main router. Let's say that the main house switch that is a 16 port switch. Do you then need to have a small isolated 5-port network switch for the backhaul of the satellites where the MR60's "ethernet" port goes to? Or can you plug the all the satellites into the same big 16-port network switch, and have both the "internet" and "ethernet" on the MR60 plugged into the same 16-port switch?! There's something that seems bad about plugging both ports into the same switch, but I don't know.DNS Problems with Mesh VPN
Hello Everyone! I currently have a nighthawk netgear mesh system (MR60) and was able to setup a VPN through open VPN. I am able to connect to the network externally fine at this point in time. I am able to then connect to my PC though my IP address through Microsoft RDP app on my phone which is great however I have a use to be able to connect to my PC by its name. Has anyone had any luck with doing this? I heard it is a DNS issue however I am unsure how to resolve this with the router settings! Thank you!How to add a MR60 to my mesh network as a satellite?
I have a mesh system. 1 MR60 and 2 MS60s. I bought a new satellite on eBay and the person sent me an MR60. It won’t connect to my network. Wondering if I’m missing something here. I am definitely a beginner on this stuff. Any guidance is appreciated.MK62 Question
Hey guys. Having some poor signal throughout the house with a single router setup. My question is since I already have a nighthawk router that I want to continue using, can I use the MK62 router as a satellite or do I have to set the MK62 router as a separate network in order to use the additional satellite? TIA!Nighthawk MK63 - can I connect the satellites via Ethernet (not wireless)?
I am considering purchaisng the Netgear Nighthawk MK63 pack (One router and two satellites) ;-I dont have the budget for Orbi. I've googled for an hour or so and read the installation and user manual for the nighthwak Mesh AX, but it doesn't seem to clearly define whether the satellites can be connected by Ehternet to the router? I'm my environment I have a need to have one satellite connected by ethernet and one via Wifi. Is this possible and if so -will i have an issues by doing this? NOTE: I couldn't find a matching model number in the list - sorry if this has confused things. For the sake of clarity - this is the product: https://www.netgear.com/au/home/wifi/mesh/mk63/ Cheers PeteSolved3.4KViews0likes4CommentsMR60 Mesh with MS60 Satellites - Unable to Login to Satellite
Good day all, here is my conundrum: I am working with Netgear Support, and they are practically useless in resolving my issues. I just purchased the MR60 Mesh System with 2 x MS60 Satellites. If I do nothing with them, and just set them up, they work great. However, I am attempting to create QoS rules to give certain devices higher priority than others (e.g. my smart light bulb is currently set to high while my smart tv is currently set to low and I wish to change this). On www.routerlogin.com, when I attempt to change the QoS rules, I'll select a device to edit, but upon reaching the next screen it is displaying a different device. Even when I change the priority for the displayed device, it does not update in the list of devices on the previous screen. This was the first issue that made me contact Netgear Support. Netgear Support has advised me to change my Firmware Version to 1.0.6.102, and my current Firmware Version is 1.0.6.110 which I believe is a newer firmware version, so I'm not sure why I would downgrade to an older version. Either way, when attempting to do this and following the instructions, I go to: www.routerlogin.com > advanced > administration > router update > manual update > then attempt to select the satellite to update with the downloaded MS60 firmware file (1.0.6.102). I get a login prompt exactly like you would receive when logging into www.routerlogin.com, however when entering my admin and password, it doesn't connect, and I simply receive the login prompt again. This is the second issue. So now, I'm at a complete loss. I'm about to return this device as I am completely unable to customize it to my liking, and I am unable to make simple changes like I was able to make with my old Netgear Router (I only purchased the mesh system because I bought a bigger house and the old router finally died after 5 years).Question about the Nighthawk Mesh WiFi 6 System
I am looking at the 2 pack Nighthawk mesh system and was curious how these work in conjunction with a router? Does one of these beacons act as a router? I am building a 4,000 sq ft home and I don't believe there are any routers that would cover that kind of space.
