When you add a new user, it sends their password to the admin email in plain text. Email is not a secure information transport and can not be trusted with that kind of information. This is a major security flaw I think and pretty standard no-no in the application security realm. I would at least like this to be a configurable option, at the VERY least. 1) Snapshot function on Home folders. 2) Snapshot cleanup Schedule/option for each share, e.g. be able to set that only snapshots up to 30 days should be kept - Automatic delete older snapshots 3) Option to start ReadySYNC client automatically for each NAS on Readynas Remote client 4) Add an ignore, delete or quarantine file option to virus detections Also see my buglist at http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=154&t=72312BUG: ReadyCloud install error
Hi Just found out this little bug. On a Windows where you have changed the temp directory place in the system variables settings (Temp and Tmp point at c:\tmp on my computer) and you install ReadyCloud, the software decompresses files in the correct tmp directory (c:\tmp) but when the install needs to read the decompressed files, it searches in the "usual" windows temp directory (from memory c:\users\blablabla\temp). The install stops and asks where it can find some files (like ??stuff or similar). Sorry, I did things without noting the exact files. If you show it where the files are, install goes on as it should. I suppose the temp path ws read from the system to uncompresse the files but was hard coded to read the results.3.3KViews0likes0CommentsReadyCloud connect problem after Netgear takes control
Hi I had several problems with 6.2.2. and 6.2.3 betas and on 2 occasions the Netgear helpline took control of my RN312. After both distant controls, I lost my connection to ReadyCloud. I had to cancel my "old" account and create a new one on order to reconnect. I think I may have found the culprit. When I had installed the ReadyNAS OS, the device ID was the part in green nas-some LAN card info. Then the first time NG took control, the device ID got changed and the part in blue was added. The 2nd time the distant control took place, the part in red was added... Edit: As I cannot link to the image, here it the link http://screenpresso.com/=VHJfc End edit. (FYI, I have flouted part of the shown info) I'm not sure if ReadyCloud uses the device ID to reconnoiter the NAS. If this is not the case, I really can't find out why I can't connect to ReadyCloud with my old login/psw. TIA for your help and ideas. Robby5.2KViews0likes7CommentsUnable to see share names
ReadyNAS 316, OS 6.2.0 I'm now using ReadyCLOUD to backup some local PC files. It creates a new share on my NAS for every local folder I backup. The new share name is prefixed by my machine name and then a hyphen. This leads to some long share names. Problem is the OS6 only shows a limited amount of the share name. I can't see the difference between the names. All I see for each one is "SILENTBOB-" and it isn't possible to differentiate without going to the "Browse" view. Any solution for this? It's quite a UI limitation.4.4KViews0likes5Commentsreadycloud.netgear.com using INSECURE non-https!
readycloud.netgear.com redirects to a non-https address after login, giving authentication cookies and router access to anyone on a shared network (such as public wifi)! Https is used for login (if a weak version), but redirecting to completely insecure for router access is unacceptable.RN104 defrag problem
RN104, FW 6.2.4 4x3TB WD RED , RAID5 , x - raid , AV Off, Snapshots ON running apps : SMBplus , Transmission, Linux-Dash, PHPSysinfo, Cacti, BTsync 1.4, istat, PHP, instaled apps but turn Off: VPN server, Log analyzer UPS on front USB, 1 usb stick in back USB for backup When I start defragmentation (manually or as planned task), in 9 out of 10 launch in about 15-20 minutes will stop or at least restarting the admin web interface. At that moment Raidar 6 does not detect NAS. (or after a while telling me that admin interface is not running - if web admin interface wont restart automatically - than restart NAS with RAIDar is ony possibility for start admin interface again) In the log I find : Sat Jun 20 2015 5:20:12 System: ReadyNASOS background service started. Sat Jun 20 2015 5:20:02 System: ReadyNASOS service or process (readynasd) was restarted. Sat Jun 20 2015 5:00:02 Volume: Defragmentation started for Volume 'data'. and no other info about deframentation complete. (I downloaded full logs, but I'm not able find cause of this behavior.) Tried eject connected USB drive before defrag - no effect.ReadyNAS enhancement
I have a client using a ReadyNAS 312. They have 2 USB drives they use to backup the ReadyNAS contents. One stays attached and is the target for a scheduled nightly backup. The other they attach as desired and use the backup button to run a backup to the drive manually. We just replaced the USB Drives we were using with 2 new WD My Passport Portable USB drives. The cases of these new drives are different colors but otherwise the drives are the same make and model. The problem is that in the ReadyNAS "Overview" display there is no way to tell the drives apart so if I wanted to reformat one, or eject one, my only clue as to which is which would be any differences in the disk usage information. On the Shares/Browse screen each drive gets a unique, numbered designation and under Properties allows you to edit a description field for the drive but none of these labels show on the "Overview" display. I would like to see the "Description" field shown under the Shares/Browse screen added to the drive information displayed in the "Overview" screen so matching drives can easily be distinguished from one another.
