5 TopicsReadynas RND-6a doesn't boot
I got this NAS used and so am unsure as to how it works. The model is Readynas rnd-6a. When I power it on the fans spin up and "ReadyNAS" displays on the LCD but that is all. I assume it doesn't boot although I don't know how to check if it's online, I have plugged in an Ethernet cable and it doesn't show up on my router. So far I have tried: Removing all the disks External power supply Changing the memory There is no data it, I just want to resurrect the machine. Any info or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ConnorRN314 Disk corruption
I've had this RN314 for a few yeras now but its been nothing but headaches, Right now Its holding my data hostage. It Keeps telling me error 0x80070570 The File or Data is corrupted - I am running the NAS as a Raid-5 so i had hopes that a scrub should fix this issues. But it did not. Ther are no disk errors in Smart. I am currently Migrating my data to the cloud If this was only 1 or 2 files no big issues but as of now its over 20% of all the files on the drive. The good news is the files seem to still be playable and work for me if i manually navigate to them... If this was windows I'd run a check Disk on them, but I dont know what to do with this RN. HELP.Questions about the ReadyNAS 424
I am new here and am concidering getting a Netgear ReadyNAS 424. I currentley have a Asustor AS-5004T and want to upgrade it to something better what must incldude native windows based File versioning support (Previous Versions) for SMB shares held on the NAS. My current setup is as follows, I have 2 x 6TB WD Red Pro HDD's inside my exsiting NAS box confiqured in RAID 1 along with a 4TB Red Pro drive used for weekley archiving. I also have a another 6TB WD Red Pro HDD inside my Windows 2016 Essentials rack server what acts as a backup to my main 6TB RAID 1 array. I have a few questions about the ReadyNAS 424, and hopefully those reading will be able to ansewer for me. 1) Can the RAM on the ReadyNAS 424 be upgradded, and if so to how much and what type? I have 8GB in my AS-5004T at the moment and is of the 1600MHz DDR3L SO-DIMM type. (Will 2GB be enough!? , my NAS is my main storage for daily usage and not just a backup/archive) 2) At what level does the ReadyNAS 424 support DFS and file versioning. I would like it to idealy integrate with the DFS capabilitys of Windows Server and have the 6TB drive inside my Rack Server cross syncronise the SMB shares on the ReadyNAS 424 ? 3) Does the ReadyNAS 424 support 802.3AD link aggregation? (I have a Draytek VigorSwitch P2261) 4) How reliable is the ReadyNAS 424?, I am allways having reliability isues with SMB shares shared via UPnP on my Asustor NAS box to my Denon network audio streamer that is part of my Hi-Fi. Sometimes it works fine, othertimes my Denon network audio streamer cannot see the shares on my Asustor NAS box! (All hard wired, no Wi-Fi or Mains LAN senders) 5) Does the ReadyNAS 424 support share/folder encryption what has to be unlocked by a password on starting the unit up. (In case the unit gets stolen.) Also, below suggests that ReadyNAS OS6 supports DFS, what I thought was a proprietary technology to Windows and was not available on Linux based NAS boxes? https://kb.netgear.com/23090/How-do-I-use-DFS-feature-on-the-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system Lastly , anythoughts on the ReadyNAS 424 in general? Regards: Elliott.ReadyNAS NV+ Freezing/Locking up. Diagnostic Help Please!
Hey Guys, My reliable ReadyNAS has been given me issues this last week. It's a ReadyNAS NV+ v1 loaded with 4x2TB WD Green drives. FW is current at 4.1.14. I'm posting here becasue I found this thread: https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Hardware-Compatibility/ReadyNAS-NV-hangs-freezes-please-help-diagnose-24042647/td-p/931232 Which is the identical symptoms I am getting from my unit. The unit boots, starts a FS and Quota check since I had to hard unplug it due to the power button being non-responsive since this started happening. After the 2 hours that check takes to complete, I can access shares/web console etc for about 30 min. Then the activity lights stop, the power button becomes unresponsive, and share access stops. In the thread linked above, it looks like there was 'Current_Pending_Sector' value which indicated a failing/bad disk. I'm hoping having someone's input on the logs will point at the same issue with mine and not some logic board issues or hardware problem. Keeping the data intact and accessible is my priority at this point. I have been able to extract the logs and loaded them here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7tgX-P1b8UgbTA3blk2VWZ1TkE/view?usp=sharing Any input would be greatly appreacited. Thanks -ken
