Model Number: c7100v Firmware: V2.01.33 OS: Mac High Sierra v10.13.3 Hi guys. I purchased the Nighthawk c7100v dual modem/router so I could stop paying the rental fee through comcast, and it works with the triple play that we have. We have a one story, 4 bedroom home and I've never had an issue with coverage or speed with comcast's Arris dual modem/router that we used for years. My speeds using comcast equipment were 150 Mbps down/5 mbps up. Nothing special, but it does the trick. I installed the Nighthawk, called comcast and activated it, checked connectivity and it was working fine. Very similar speeds using the speedtest.net. That was March 17th, last Saturday. On Sunday, March 18th, I noticed the internet was lagging quite a bit. I checked speedtest and it ran a 6 mbps download/5 mbps upload. I restarted the Nighthawk and tried again, but same result. I am lucky to get 10mbps. I'm not using another router, the placement of the Nighthawk is above anything else, not being blocked by metal or a wall, it's in the living room out in the open. I called comcast and they are sending a technician, but I'd like to try and fix it myself in case it's something you guys can help me with. Hey everyone, before I start I want to apologize if this is not the correct section to post this thread. The router I currently own is this one (click here) and I simply cannot access my router settings (routerlogin.com or 192.168.1.1) I do get the text box to input my username : password but all the login infos I've looked up in google won't work. Text Box I get to see. I tried multiple sites to check for login info and none work, one of those being this huge "2018 updated" list: https://www.lifewire.com/netgear-default-password-list-2619154 At the beggining I thought it could be my router messing stuff around because sometimes I got a message saying "Your conenction is not secure" so I tried on MS Edge and then on Firefox, no luck either. I decided to contact ISP, blah, blah, for security reasons they cannot give me admin : password (not sure why?) [My ISP provided me this Netgeat router, I didn't buy it by myself]. Anyhow I did not care about what they said because I used to have TrendNET router and could access to my router settings with no interference from them; the next big step I did was holding the little "factory reset" until the power light started to blink (Not sure if it's held more time it might do something). After factory reset I got the default SSID and PW of the network, I logged in, and had to "log-in" to the network, the only thing it said was the SSID and PW I already knew and 2 buttons, one was to print all the info and the other one to proceed and "activate" the internet. Tried all the possible combinations of admin : password after factory reset and no luck either, no I'm stuck with a SSID called "SureWest-f1" instead of the custom SSID I want. I remember once after a while (because I gave up and submitting a live chat here required a proof of purchase which I don't have because like I mentioned before, my ISP gave this to me) I remember attempting to factory reset it again like 4+ times, and only ONE of them allowed me to access the router info, I had like 3 options to choose, continue with net, configure settings, etc. (instead of the print thing screen I mentioned before) but amazingly unlucky me something happened and after settings everything I wanted, the save button or whatever it was simply didn't work, didn't have connection anymore, had to factory reset again and since then I haven't ever been able to access my router settings apart from that lucky try. (Not exactly sure WHAT I did that one time, maybe I held the factory reset button longer? Who knows..) I'd really like to access my router settings to change SSID how I want, custom password, and doing some port-forwarding. Please any help is appreciated, my ISP just won't help me, they're limiting me what to do with my OWN router.SolvedRBK44 System Unstable
60% of the time it works everytime! With each firmware update I feel like Netgear is getting further and further away from stability. I am so frustrated by this system that I don't know what to do at this point. If it were not for the fact that I have spent $400 including an extra stellite (RBS50) I would trash it and start over. I just manually updated to the beta firmware version 2.1.3.6 in hopes of finding stability. 2 hours into it and I can't tell you how many times I have rebooted the router and statellites. Hi, We have used this extender successfully for several months. We recently upgraded to NBN so have a new wifi router. We have followed video and connected it to new router using Ethernet cable. The Netgear extender is connected via Ethernet cable in our shed. When we try to connect to it, it picks up our correct wifi network but when we enter the wifi password it says we cannot join! So wondering if someone can help me on this. My orbi satellite has been acting up recently not broadcasting wifi. Before I get into it, I have power cycled the router, the satellite, the router and the satellite, I have updated firmware manually, reset to factory defaults... twice, all to no avail... Also I know the satellite was not bum off the line because it worked fine in the past for some time (I've had the system for close to 6 months with no prior issues). Anyways, the issue appears to be the satellite has wifi "disabled" but I can't find a way to turn it on (no switch on the hardware, no option when logged into the satellite through either its direct IP admin page or through the router admin page). Going in through the router admin page shows the satellite as a "connected device" but doesn't recognize it as a satellite. Further, reseting the satellite and synching manually yields a blue light (never magenta) but still the router page doesn't recognize the satellite as a "satellite" - only a "connected device". And finally, logging into the admin page for the satellite itsefl yields a picture showing the satellite connected to the router, but specifically stating the wifi for both the 2.4 and 5.0 channels as "disabled". Anyone have any ideas? Its really quite frustrating, especially how expensive these units are and the amount of time I've had it. ThanksBefore I buy Orbi
I need some community help. I really want to buy the Orbi system to cover some of the dead zones in my house, but the recent reviews on Amazon and the community boards about the router losing its connection to the modem and requiring a physical reset really concerns me. So my netgear genie was going just fine for about 5 months, then this Netgear error pops up twice every time my computer turns on saying that the file "Ralink.dll" is not compatible or working properly on your computer. I deleted the .dll file and restarded my PC. When it came on this time it says " The code execution cannot proceed because Ralinkk.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. I was having troubles with the WiFi so I hard reset my router and now the internet is just gone, the routers lights a lit White like normal but there is no WiFi, I have unplugged the router and the modem but nothing works also if I connect my phone to the WiFi, which isn't working, and go on the nether genie app it will pull up all the information as if I have internet but I don't please help.523Views0likes1Comment
