Insight App and pc portal for OrbiPro6 SXR80 When I configure or troubleshoot via the pc portal via entering in browser the IP address of router, I can see which satellite a device is connected to, or that the device is connected to the router directly. This helps immensely in troubleshooting weak connections or connectivity between devices. Neither the insight pc portal nor the insight app for iPhone provide this level of information. The “Topography” concept in Insight should have forks off of each satellite for devices connected to each satellite, but instead it shows all devices connected directly to the router -which is not true. Can this be improved in the next version of Insight app and pc interface? PS, OrbiPro6 SXR80 is NOT allowed to be entered in “Model” Recommended... input above Thank you.5.5KViews1like0CommentsAllow to rename Clients
It would be immensely helpful to be able to add/edit names of client devices. It would be heck of a lot easy to figure out what each device is... Should be whatever system gets by default and then allowing user to edit, so I can name something like "Printer by Coffee machine"4.7KViews25likes8Commentstcpdump does not decode Prism radio header (wireless interface)
Please update the version of tcpdump that's included in the WAC720 and WAC510 access point (and other WiFi routers/access points). The version currently installed relies on a buggy libpcap that incorrectly processes the Prism radio header. As a result, running a packet capture on the radio interface results on undecodable frames. Please note that the problem is in the pcap library, not tcpdump (the pcap library is static linked into tcpdump). This is the version of tcpdump currently installed: # tcpdump -V tcpdump version 3.9.8 libpcap version 1.1.1 This is what happens when the current version of tcpdump is run on a radio interface (notice the decodes are useless): # tcpdump -i mon0 -n tcpdump: WARNING: mon0: no IPv4 address assigned tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 96 bytes 16:25:39.368772 [|802.11] 16:25:39.395357 [|802.11] 16:25:39.396201 [|802.11] 16:25:39.408759 [|802.11] 16:25:39.415976 [|802.11] 16:25:39.416788 [|802.11] 16:25:39.448778 [|802.11] This is an updated version of tcpdump: # /tmp/tcpdump -V tcpdump version 4.7.4 libpcap version 1.7.3 This is what happens if I use an updated version of tcpdump (notice the decodes are sensible): # /tmp/tcpdump -i mon0 -n tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on mon0, link-type PRISM_HEADER (802.11 plus Prism header), capture size 262144 bytes 16:26:44.309540 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:44.319537 Probe Request (Carioca_5G) [6.0 9.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.047216 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.048028 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.087172 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.088047 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 16:26:49.127191 Probe Request () [6.0* 9.0 12.0* 18.0 24.0* 36.0 48.0 54.0 Mbit] 16:26:49.127972 Acknowledgment RA:9c:3d:cf:ea:67:69 You can download the updated version of tcpdump using this command: curl -k -o /tmp/tcpdump https://raw.githubusercontent.com/andrew-d/static-binaries/master/binaries/linux/arm/tcpdump4.2KViews0likes0CommentsAdd Linux Support to the Insight Instant VPN Client
I have a BR500 and purchased the Insight Instant VPN service for it. Overall, the Insight Instant VPN service is nice as I can manage who I let into the VPN and It's an easy way to get into my routers network remotely. While I can get the VPN to work from my home Windows based PC, I also have several Linux machines that I would like to be able to connect to the VPN with. I've already been in contact with support and the conclusion was that this is somehow not supported or they had no settings they could give me to manually configure a connection. I'd be happy with just some settings that I could use to manually configure a connection to the Inisight Instant VPN on Linux (e.g., Protocol, Gateway, etc.). If for some reason there is something that can't be disclosed then a Linux version of the app would be great too. I just want to be able to use the service through my Linux machines.3.9KViews3likes2CommentsINSIGHT PRO URL TRACKING
Hi, In France, we must be able to provide our internet wifi logs for 1 year. With or Without captive portal. I know we can do it with captiv portal (web history). But actually we can not do it if we don't use captive portal. I can find in the management interface of wifi access point WAXxxx the possibility to activate "url tracking" but logs doesn't stay for a long time and we need to connect to each wifi access point to find and download them. We know we can do it with snmp too but custommers will need a new system to manage it. It coudl be very useful to have the possibility to activate url tracking from insight. By this way we could have the possibility to generate the web history (internet logs) for all access points/devices/SSID without captive portal. Captiv portal is not ergonomic for inside machine and users. Thanks in advanced fir your reply2.7KViews3likes2Comments2048 bit CSR and Self-Signed Certificate Capability for Business Products (Like all switches)
We're missing the ability to generate CSRs with 2048 bit on the Netgear Business products (like the Smart Manged Plus, Smart Managed Pro, Managed Switches, coming-up Routers like the BR500, and solo the ability to generate self-signed certificates accordingly.2.3KViews2likes0CommentsRemove / Delete Disconnected Clients in Insight
I don't think this is possible, as I've not found a way to do this at all, but in the Clients tab, I have a growling list of disconnected clients that just won't even be here again - some clients were transitory - so how does this list get managed so that clients which are no longer of any interested can be removed instead of this growing into a monster database table? Can NetGlear place a button to remove discovered disconnected clients since if they appear again, they will just be rediscovered to keep the client's table running quick/smooth without unnecessary data from transient clients?2.2KViews1like4CommentsWAC 505 Schedule Wifi hours
Hi, This idea is for Access Point WAC 505/510. The product is not in the list. In standalon mode, I can schedule different activation times of the wifi. In Insight Mode, the option disappears and it's impossible to do this. I can not believe Netgear forgot that. Netgear support and the sales department told me whether or not the POE was enabled on the switch port. It's a joke ? The scheduling option must be implemented. At the moment, I'm using my WAC505 in standalone mode.1.9KViews1like0Comments
