Insight Switch
26 TopicsAdd a radio signal power feature and schedule option in the web management
Hi, I would really appreciate having in the web based management the capability to turn on/off radio and define schedules for radio on WAC510 access point . This is available on WAC720 and WAC730. That feature is only available on the insight pro. Having 2 AP, I do not see the point of paying insight pro subscription only for that feature. Thanks Netgear for considering that option. As a managed switch with 10Gbe uplink ports it is rather surprising that this switch has not been added to Insight - especially when the GS110TPV3 is supported in Insight and costs half as much as the 110EMX. the 110EMX is a very useful switch to use at the edge of small networks where remote management would be extremely useful3.3KViews0likes13CommentsTemperature monitoring and control on Smart/Plus switches
I own an XS724EM 24-port 10G switch. It runs warm to the touch, and the default fan profile seems to err on the side of low noise rather than cooling. Tech support says that the switch is designed to spin down fans entirely unless a certain temperature threshold is reached. Personally, I would prefer to see more aggressive cooling, even if meant slightly more fan noise. So my feature request is twofold: Basic temperature monitoring (ambient, internal) in the admin GUI. All I want is a simple readout of how warm the switch currently thinks it is. Basic manual fan control in the admin GUI. I'm envisioning something like the "Cool/Balanced/Quiet" drop-down menu (see image) found on ReadyNAS units. I know the managed switches have functionality along these lines. To me, this basic temperature monitoring and control seems like it should definitely be included on Smart/Plus switches too.2.4KViews5likes2CommentsRemove SSL 2.0 and 3.0 and TLS 1.0 from Embedded https Web Servers
Many NTGR business products still have SSL 2.0 and 3.0 and TLS 1.0 as options - nowadays these are obsolete and should be removed, TLS 1.2 is in the field for more then 10 years, so there should be no more prehistorical Web browser still requiring anything different.2.4KViews4likes0Comments2048 bit CSR and Self-Signed Certificate Capability for Business Products (Like all switches)
We're missing the ability to generate CSRs with 2048 bit on the Netgear Business products (like the Smart Manged Plus, Smart Managed Pro, Managed Switches, coming-up Routers like the BR500, and solo the ability to generate self-signed certificates accordingly.2.3KViews2likes0CommentsHow to escalate support case?
I have a support case dealing with my new GS752TPP switches disconnecting from the Insight Cloud. Once they disconnect, they stay disconnected and I can't ping them, access the GUI, etc. The case has been open for about a month with no resolution. The support agent(s) keep asking for the logs from the disconnected switches but I can't get to them (since the switch is showing disconnected and can't be accessed by IP). I would like to escalate the case to the next level. How do I need to do that?2.3KViews1like4CommentsAdd SNMP support on GC510P(P)
Hi, Please add SNMP support on the GC510PP, to monitor this device. Smaller devices do have SNMP support, but this more expensive model does not have SNMP support. I think SNMP support for managed switches is a MUST have, since they are used in "enterprice". Kind regards, Tim2KViews4likes3CommentsOption to disable UPnP for GC110/GC110P/GC510P/GC510PP when local management only is enabled
Currently (firmware version 1.0.5.27) GC110/GC110P/GC510P/GC510PP does not allow to turn off UPnP even when local management only ("Direct Connect Web-browser Interface (Local LAN Only)") is enabled. This poses a security risk because this switch could be deployed to environment that is open to public and allow whatever user on the network to peek network infra details, including device name, IP address, manufacturer, model, and MAC address. This allows malicious user to find an attack vector. Netgear Support team mentioned that UPnP cannot be disabled because it has to be visible to Netgear Insight App to discover the switch. However documentation says: "Direct Connect Web-browser Interface (Local LAN Only)- In this mode, the device can be managed only while on the local LAN, using a PC to access the web-browser management interface. ... Management using the NETGEAR Insight App is disabled." Apparantly when user choose local management specifically, there's no point for UPnP to be alive and discoverable by Insight App. Please fix this security risk soon.1.8KViews1like1CommentSwitch Temperature Alerts
Please allow for temperature alerts and also custom temperature alerts for Netgear switches. I'd like to be able to have a temperature alert sent to the IT team of an overheating switch while also having an automated email sent to the site manager for their awareness. This feature would be great for Insight-managed switches or any switch for that matter. Temperature alerts are critical and can be a business stopper.1.7KViews0likes1Comment
