Hi, new to the community, looking for wisdom :) I've got a RN 2120 with 4 x 4TB WD Black drives, the NAS is setup as RAID5 for home use storage, total space comes out to 10.9TB. The hard drives are brand new and have nothing on them. What happened today is I accidentally pulled out a hard drive and popped it back in while the NAS was running. As a result, the hard drive that was out for a split second is now being re-synced and its taking 20 hrs or so to perform the function, is this normal under RAID5? If somebody could explain, why would the empty hard drive need to be re-synced for RAID5 if there’s no data? Thanks, YasSolvedConfigure NAS
Hi everyone, I´ve been using a shared hard disk in my local network and this is my very first time using a NAS and I cannot find the way to configure it. It´s been a couple of days since I´ve been setting it up but there is nothing else I can do. I have tried a couple of possible solutions but nothing worked so I am going to tell what I have done and see if you can help me. am using the hard drive I used for local network, and I just want to let you know that I only store movies on it so I don’t use it that much and it has got more or less a year since I bought it. So, I formatted the hard drive which is a Seagate ST2000DM001 and inserted in the chamber 1 of the NAS. After turning it up it did nothing, I wasn´t able to find it in the Ready Cloud web page, also pressed the backup button for 5 sec. and nothing. I also downloaded the RAIDar programme and still the same. As I remembered I set to my tech a static IP so I thought it would be because of that so I set the NAS with the 192.168.1.10 to the eth0 and 192.168.1.11 to the eth1. I do have the NAS connected the router my internet provider gave as I also have a switch and thought this could cause some issues. I can ping the ip from my PC sending 4 packages and receiving them too, I have also tried looking up they IP through the browser and nothing. So, I thought it would be a problem with the hard disk so I decided to formatted using this manual selection Factory default and leave it "think” for 30 min; useless.Right now, it has the power button blue and the rest are off. I´m also going to post some photos as they may be useful. Any help is welcome and thanks in advanced.RN626X Incompatible with Drives built under RN516?
RN626X Incompatible with Drives built under RN516? Swapped my RN516 drives to my RN626X (same firmware level, 6.6.1). Volume immediately marked unavailable on boot. PRIORITY support tech just openly voiced that it wasn't possible. So... No one can ever just swap drives to any of the new units!? You're supposed to build a new volume and copy the data over?Performance/Admin Page Access - Does available disk space affect access to the ReadyNas
Hi, I have a ReadyNAS NV+ and it has been running well for a while. A while back, I got a warning about the fan failing so I took the NAS out of commission for a while and got a replacement fan. I also got warnings about increasing bad sectors on one of the drives so I replaced it. I use the NAS as intermediate storage for my acronis images taken from my servers. I can't remember at what point, but my jobs began to take way longer to complete than they previously. I think it was after I replaced the drive which a WD10EFRX - WD Red 1TB NAS Hard Disk Drive. My backups literally take 4 times as long to complete. I replaced the 2nd drive with an identical WD10EFRX - WD Red 1TB NAS Hard Disk Drive drive and it still slower than it was previously. Unfortunately, I can't find the original drives that I had installed in the unit when it was initially provisioned. Both of the disks are healthy according to the NAS, but performance is still slow. I updated the firmware on the NAS. There is nothing in the logs apart from the occasional volume running out of space, which is normal in my situation. The NAS is connected to a 1Gb/s full duplex port. At one point I connected the NAS directly to the same switch that the servers are connected, however I saw no speed difference. There are 2 drives in a Raid 1 configuration. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Solved7.7KViews0likes25CommentsReadyNAS and DVBSky
Hi, I'm running a readyNAS 202 with DVBlink TVServer. Now I want to add a TV-Source to my network. As I've a UNIcable TV-network I'm trying the DVBSky S960 USB Box. I connected it to one of the USB-Slots of the NAS but I've no idea how to install the drivers now. The DVBlink software runiing on the NAS does'n detect the USB-Box. Does anybody have experience with this hardware combination or can anybody give advice how to install drivers on my NAS? Thanks, CherryReadyNAS NV+ Freezing/Locking up. Diagnostic Help Please!
Hey Guys, My reliable ReadyNAS has been given me issues this last week. It's a ReadyNAS NV+ v1 loaded with 4x2TB WD Green drives. FW is current at 4.1.14. I'm posting here becasue I found this thread: https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Hardware-Compatibility/ReadyNAS-NV-hangs-freezes-please-help-diagnose-24042647/td-p/931232 Which is the identical symptoms I am getting from my unit. The unit boots, starts a FS and Quota check since I had to hard unplug it due to the power button being non-responsive since this started happening. After the 2 hours that check takes to complete, I can access shares/web console etc for about 30 min. Then the activity lights stop, the power button becomes unresponsive, and share access stops. In the thread linked above, it looks like there was 'Current_Pending_Sector' value which indicated a failing/bad disk. I'm hoping having someone's input on the logs will point at the same issue with mine and not some logic board issues or hardware problem. Keeping the data intact and accessible is my priority at this point. I have been able to extract the logs and loaded them here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7tgX-P1b8UgbTA3blk2VWZ1TkE/view?usp=sharing Any input would be greatly appreacited. Thanks -ken
