The firmware for the ReadyNAS RN212 has not been updated for a long time. At this point, I no longer expect any functional improvements. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rn212/ However, what I want from NETGEAR is a clear announcement regarding whether or not security issues, if discovered, will still be addressed. If the product is completely unsupported, that should be clearly stated as well. Typically, when a product reaches End of Life (EOL), it is explicitly noted in red text on the firmware page. The issue here is that there is no such indication, yet the firmware has not been updated for an extended period, and there has been no official announcement whatsoever.55Views0likes2Commentsadding hard drie
ReadyNAS 4312x (not in the "Model Recommended" above) I have Six 10TB Hard drives, X-RAID setup I am trying to add a 10TB (HGST model HUH721010ALE600) hard drive, the log shows it adds the drive...then about 5 minutes later it removes the drive. Did I just get a bad hard drive? (as I have never expanded this and it should be "easy")Solved1.4KViews0likes5Commentspassword recovery fails
Hello all, I cannot log in to my ReadyNAS, and after putting the correct recovery details (email and recovery answer) - it says: Recover Password Failed. I haven't been receiving emails from the NAS for months, and right now my internet is also down (using a hotspot to write this post). This was annoying before, but now the situation is a bit urgent... The only thing I can think of is that it's possible that the router address may have changed so the NAS cannot get to the internet. Does this sound like a possibility to you guys? As the physical reset button wasn't configured originally, that reset option isn't available to me when I go to the password recovery page. So I don't want to press that button at the back in case I lose data. Is there a way to recover the password based on these limitations? Many thanks, AaronSolved7.6KViews0likes3Comments1GbE speeds over 10GbE connections? MacOS
I was wondering if anyone is having this same expereince. I have a new 626x, all drives filled, x-raid, connected to a Netgear XS708E 10GbE router, and I'm getting very slow speeds over 10GbE. Not even 90MBs. I was getting better speeds though my Pioneer Pro. My mac is connected to the router though a Promise Technolgy Sanlink2 by thunderbolt. I know I have to tinker with the settigs on each device to get the best performance, but it shouldn't be this slow, should it? Any advice would be appreciated.Solved6.4KViews0likes13CommentsNetgear NAS 102 "offline"
I have been running my ReadyNAS 102 for nearly 3 years with no issues. Recently I can no longer access the NAS remotly using readycloud log in. The drive always shows off line. Also, with my Windows 10 laptops I can see the drive and drive folders, however when I click on them they ask for log in credentials. Ive tried adding a windows credential with the log in and password for the NAS, but that did not work. Ive also tried rebooting my modem, the drive, updated firmware, etc. Any suggestions?1.9KViews0likes1CommentCan't move, delete or rename file
I have one file in a share on my NAS and I can't rename, remove or move it. I have reset the permissions under shares and also reset the permissions on the complete share. I have tried to remove it from my mac using different services AFP/SMB/FTP and also tried to remove the file through the HTTP-service/interface. Still no succes. If I delete the file in Finer on mac, it just reappeares. The NAS is updated with the latest firmware and rebooted and "repaired". No difference. The file won't move. Hi I have a netgear fvs318 router at work that I have a vpn setup on. I am able to access my network remotely using software on my laptop and am able to access the server and router login page. I just recently installed a readynas 312 on the network and it's working great but I am unable to access it remotely through the vpn. I can connect to the network and I am able to ping the nas address successfully, but I cannot connect to any shares and I cannot access the admin page for nas settings. Any ideas why this isn't working through the VPN Thank youSolved5.3KViews0likes4CommentsExpand ReadNAS capacity by adding another NAS
Hi! I have a ReadyNAS NV2+, and am rapidly running out of storage space. I looked at buying a new 8-bay NAS (from various manufacturers such as QNap), but these see to be many times more expensive than the ReadyNAS 4-bay units. So, my question is this: can I buy a second ReadyNAS, and link it to my old one to expand the capacity? Ideally, I'll like to link the 2 NAS together to maintain a single volume (rather than having two separate NAS), and have them run in X-RAID2 mode to mitigate HDD failure. Any thoughts on how I can do this (or a more appropriate alternative solution) most welcome! Many thanks in advance!Solved3.3KViews0likes3Comments
