Orbi System: Disable automatic firmware updates
Although automatic firmware updates should probably be the default, there should be a method (easily accessible in the firmware settings) to disable firmware auto-updates. Kabelverbindung zwischen Router und Satelliten unterstützen
Einer der Vorteile von Orbi ist die drahtlose Verbindung zwischen Router und Satelliten. Auch diese wird jedoch in mehrgeschossigen Gebäuden, insbesondere modern mit Stahlbeton gebauten, an ihre Grenzen kommen. Gerade in diesen modernen Gebäuden ist häufig bereits eine LAN-Verkabelung vorhanden, die hervorragend genutzt werden könnte, um einen Router und mehrere Satelliten zu verbinden und somit das gesamte Haus mit den anderen Vorteilen von Orbi zu versorgen - schnelles WLAN, einfache Einrichtung, Design, das sich nicht in der Besenkammer verstecken muss. Um dies zu ermöglichen, müsste eine solche Verbindung jedoch softwaremäßig unterstützt werden, in Sachen Hardware sind die Orbi Router und Satelliten offensichtlich bereits ausreichend ausgerüstet. The Orbi Guest Network settings has checkbox option for, "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network". These TWO options must be separated as other routers do. Others before me have pointed out how having these two options treated as one is a security flaw, and defeats the whole point of having a GUEST network. Guests may want to play games with other, use their wireless printer or connect their phones to Chromecast. They should be be able to do this without having access to the entire main network. Orbi app feature request
I use IOS so I'm not sure if droids come with these features, but I was testing a clients Eero and noticed there app has so many features like built in speed test with upload and download speeds. This a feature I think the Orbi app needs. I don't like having a tons of apps on my phone and iPad that do the same darn thing. To get the most out of my Orbi I need genie and Orbi apps, some of the things we need the gene for should be moved to the orbi app. Not being able to setup guest wifi from the app this is just basic functionality we are missing here. The app looks very 2000ish. Why would I want my app to open up with my wifi info including password up on the screen. Some basic network statistics would be good like what is connected where. I don't expect the app to be a replacement for web login but we need way more than it's doing now. Just in case you don't wanna read my long drawn out request here it is in a list Netgear: 1. Ability to run speed tests in the orbi app upload and download 2. Ability to set up a guest network from Orbi app 3. Copy network map from genie app and add what device is connected to what unit 4. Copy traffic meter from genie app 5. Give the option to change the home screen from the ssid and password 6. Hallo, ich möchte an dieser Stelle den Ruf nach einem MAC Adress Filter im AP-Modus bekräftigen. Ein m.E. nützliches Tool in unsicheren Zeiten. Natürlich ist mir bewusst, dass der MAC Filter keine große Hürde darstellt. Dennoch sollte ein High End Gerät auch den Stand der Technik beinhalten.
