Parental Controls - Checking Router Firmware
I'm trying to use parental controls on my router. I'm confused because I can still access xvideos on my child's tablet, but the entry shows up as netflix? Hello, I activated Circle parental control on R6900 nighthawk router and all was working well. However, now via Android Circle app, i can not connect to manage Circle devices nor does the app recognize I have circle active on my router. Anyone have any idea how to proceed? There are multiple inactive community discussions dating back several years with people asking for the ability to set time schedules for individual devices (using MAC addresses or whatever). For example, I want to turn off wifi to my kid's device at a certain time of evening on a school night, but not affect all devices. I may want to have a different time schedule for a younger child than an older child. I may want to limit access to wifi at different times of the day. There should be clear, straight-forward solutions to these issues. Here is a response from Netgear from back in 2015: "Re: Blocking device based on time schedule NETGEAR is working to implement the feature in the near future. So let's say I want to remove the filters from Network Genie to unprotect my computer. All I need to do is open the app, then click disable parental controls. BRILLANT DESIGN!! That means the computer is unprotected at the click of a button! Any suggestions to get around the flawed design? Basically I want to ensure that the Disable Parental Controls cannot be selected. It would seem that requiring a password would have made sense. I find the only way to do this is to install the software on another computer?
R4500 Parental Controls Not Blocking - Help My Kids Are Exposed
HELP PLEASE. Just unpacked my brand new NetGear N900 R4500 FW V1.0.0.4_1.0.3. Purchased from Amazon last week, Works great, but can't get parental controls to work. NetGenie and Genie App, both indicated Parental Controls enabled at High, but nothing gets blocked. Tried checking and changing the DNS figures, as mentioned in this community, but nothing works. Also tried reseting and checking for firmware updates, but same result. Tried starting from scratch plus I tried checking my OpenDNS account online, but still doesn't work. All settings on high, but nothing gets blocked. I am open to other ideas. I hope I won't regret this purchase. Thanks! Hi everyone. I am not the most tech savvy person, but I am learning. I have a very resourceful 15 year old I am desperately trying to protect from various websites and this issue is driving me crazy as it seems to be exactly what I'm looking for but simply not working. I have an Open DNS account I created online, I have certain sites blocked through that accunt oline which is connected to my Netgear. But I can type them in and visit them from any device connected to the internet via this router. When I try to login in to the Open DNS, I get this an error message saying to verify that I'm connected to the internet and try again. I am obviously connected to the internet as I'm online posting to this forum. Is anyone else experiencing this? How was it resolved? Please help!!!! Thanks in advance.
