Hi, it seems that since 6.5 (I noticed it in 6.5.1, so not sure when the bug started), user/group permissions are completely scrambled. Can you look at my detailed thread here, maybe I should have posted it in this forum to get attention: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/User-and-group-broken-permissions/m-p/1107451/highlight/true#M111893 It details the issue and a few suggestions to the GUI to make things more consistent The issue seems also to be reported here, in less details and over MAC https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Group-permissions-taking-preference-over-user/m-p/1092604#M1101602.3KViews0likes1Commenthow to update to OS6? Is it possible?
Netgear sent me an email recommending upgrading, said: The Vulnerability: NETGEAR has become aware of the Badlock security vulnerability that causes ReadyNAS OS 6 devices to be susceptible to man-in-the-middle (MiTM), denial of service (DoS), and similar attacks. Our records indicate that your NETGEAR product is affected. What You Can Do: NETGEAR strongly recommends that you install firmware version 6.5.0 that was released on May 17, 2016. I stil have RAIDAR 4.3.8 and firmware 4.2.28 and running x86. Not sure what to download and install, any help would be greatly Appreciated.5.1KViews0likes11CommentsDLNA Continues to drop out RN104/6.4.2
Hi, I have a fully wired LAN. Running Firmware 6.4.2 It seems that every time a new update is about to be launched, my DLNA starts dropping out. I'll be sitting watching regualr TV and I'll keep getting messages popping up telling me the ReadyNas has connected to the LAN - like a new device hjas been added/PnP. And/or, if I'm streaming a move from the ReadyNas, it will suddenly stop playing and a hop over to the regular TV. I have to change TV input, browse to the folder and start the movie again. Normally, If I stop a movie at any part, I have the option to 'jump' back to it. When the ReadyNas drops out, I don't have this option It is very annoying. I also recently found the ReadyNas very, very slow. It wanted to build a FAT/Index everytime I looked for files - took ages. I have installed SMB plus and disabled the antivirus - this is what I found when I googled the problem - it seems to have helped the speed issue.2.5KViews0likes2CommentsRsync not working with restricting security options in 6.4.1
After updating to Readynas OS 6.41 my rsync backups over SSH with KEY to another server do no longer work. The remote server has this option in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys command="/usr/local/bin/rrsync /mnt/disk/",no-pty,no-agent-forwarding,no-port-forwarding,no-user-rc,no-X11-forwarding ssh-rsa READYNAS PUCLIC KEYHERE The readynas did to backups to this system without problems... until i moved to 4.6.1 (from 6.2.5). It works if I: A) Either put this in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys on the remote server: command="/usr/local/bin/rrsync /mnt/disk/" ssh-rsa READYNAS PUCLIC KEYHERE B) Or if I issues this command from the CLI on the readynas (ssh login to NAS): rsync -avlz -e "ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -o UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null" --stats --progress --exclude 'home_dieter/snapshot' /data/home_personx 10.0.0.xx:/ My conclusion: the 6.4.1 does add some command to the Rsync over SSH that failes to work with a security restricted Rsync server. It's NOT that the Rsync does not work together in terms of incompatible Rsync protocol versions, as far as I can tell. Can someone perhaps tell me what Rsync options the 6.4.1 uses with Rsync over SSH? What has changed with 6.4.1 compared to 6.2.5? info: My NAS: readynas 102, backup server: Debian “jessie”2.8KViews0likes1CommentSnapshot use place on RN316 but no snapshot in timeline

I have a RN102 - 2x 2TB discs. In the past few days I have had trouble with my backups to sever USB hdds - several as I swap them trying to resolve the issue. I am not at the point where the RN102 usually will not boot right when a USB hdd is attached, and if I do get it up, backup jobs (RSYNC) fail witrh timeout errors. Anyone else having problems accessing files via an SMB share on a mac computer? It works fine for a certain period of time, then stops working and causes the box to completely lock up. It's also completely random. For a while it will simply cause the volumes to drop on the mac computer but if you try it too many times it simply crashes the box. I'm getting it on both of my boxes (pro 6 and ultra 6 running beta 2) One drive has SMR drives and the other has WD green drives.2.3KViews0likes0CommentsRaidar 6.0 Windows
