Hi all, I am hoping for some answers/help here. I have a ReadyNAS NV+, model number on the back says RND4000-100 v3. Up until a couple weeks ago it's been a faithful and amazing machine. I had it on a time schedule for auto on/off and one morning it just didn't come on. No bad smells (fried electronics), hooked to a surge protector, etc. Pushing the power button did nothing. No sounds, no lights flickering, nothing. From reading these forums I assumed it was a bad PSU. I tried to secure one through Netgear, but no luck. I found one on eBay that I probably paid too much for (after more reading), replaced it, and now the fan comes on and the hard drive lights flash briefly, but that's it. The LCD screen remains dark and it doesn't sound like anything else is happening. In my panic to preserve my data I tried a couple different programs that claimed to be able to read the NAS' file system. I purchased one of them - RTools for Windows. From drive 1 it recovered the folder I wanted, but only maybe a quarter of it in size. Most of the sub folders are empty. I assume that this is because it was a 4 drive system and the data is spread out? This is turning out to be a crash course in NASs for me. I'm having a lot of mixed results, and to be honest I don't actually know what I'm doing. It seems prudent to ask for advice here before I actually screw something up. Ideally there would be a way to simply revive the NAS itself of course. If not, I guess I'm looking for the full spectrum of advice here. I have a MacBook and a Windows laptop in the house to troubleshoot with. Any help is greatly appreciated.1.3KViews0likes6CommentsReplacement disk not recognised Readynas nv+ RND4000
I had 2 x 2TB drives in my nv+. One of the drives failed so I replaced it with a new drive. (Made sure its on compatibility list.) It's supposed to be hot swappable, but: - When I place the new drive in the bay. The sync does not begin. It's not recognised in either Raidar or Frontview. In fact, it causes frontview to become completely unresponsive. The only way of getting frontview to work again is to rebool the nv+ with just the single working drive in it. - I've tried powering down too and putting the drive in when powered down. But the nv+ just hangs on 'Booting...' forever (like 15hrs). - I've also tested the drive on a windows machine and it works fine. Could the nv+ itself be faulty or does anyone know anything else I can try? thanks...Readynas RND 4000 v3 compatible Hard Drive list
Hi All Can't find my model in the list for this post, but it is a Netgear ReadyNAS RND 4000 v3. Currently has 4 x 2 TB Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 5900rpm drives and been operating for years without an issue. Now, a drive has failed. I have pulled it and restarted the box successfully. But don't have a drive to put in it, so have copied everything to another drive to be safe. However, I can't find a list of compatible drives and can't buy one the same anymore. Best I have found is a 7900rpm drive but my understanding is it must be the same speed as the current drives. Can anybody point me to a compatiobile list of drives or offer any suggestions? RegardsCooked NV+ (RND4000)
Model: ReadyNAS NV+ RDN4000 v3 Firmware: sticker says v4.1.7, maybe upgraded once 3 years ago Drives: 4x Western Digital Cavair Green 2TB Array: RAID 5 I've had my NV+ running for many years but like an idiot recently I let stuff build up over the front intake. Short story: it's cooked. The PSU smelled like burning plastic and given the heat coming off it I'm lucky I didn't have a fire. It now won't power at all. I'm looking to buy a new enclosure to house my disks (I really hope they are good) but NV+'s seem to be in short supply and cost more than newer units. Is it safe to buy a newer Netgear unit and just push my drives into it? Is there anything I need to watch out for before I power the new unit on? Thanks for any advice, Skrrp.Solved3.2KViews0likes4Comments
