9 Topicsadvise for buying switches and creation SFP trunk
Dear community, As I am new to managed Switches I would like to have some advise before buying 2 switches. I need to connect 2 switches, one in a small office and one in home, approx. 50 meters apart from each other. A 200 Mbit fiber internet connection is ready to connect in the home location and connects both the office uses and the home users. I think of using 2 ProSAFE Smart Switches GS724T which have 2 fiber SFP GBIC connections as a stack and connect them via an SFP trunk to get a 2Gbit connection between switches. Planned are 2 Synology DS1817+ file- and backupservers, one in office and one in home. This DS1817+ has 4 Gbit ethernet connections and supports link aggregation (LACP). I think of connecting them via an 4 port SFP trunk to the switch for optimal performance. Future connections for security camera's are prepared. Questions 1) Is creation of the trunks and stack possible with these switches? 2) Is this a cost effective solution given the provided information or is there a much better option? 3) Is this the right type of cable for this project? https://www.patchkast.nl/om3-glasvezel-kabel-lc-lc-50m.html type: Duplex, Multimode 50/125, category: OM3 connector: LC I am happy to provide more information if needed. With this being a commerical switch I was surprised when the switch was unable to give any operating status while using different Calix SFP's. Using the 'show fiber-ports optics-info all' shows the SFP, but the 'show fiber-ports optics all' command only returns N/A for all info on the current running condition of the SPF. Any chance Netgear will be supporting this brand of SFP since Calix is one of the largest brands of fiber optic equipment in the telecom industry?4.4KViews0likes9CommentsM4300-8X8F (XSM4316S) SFP+ compatibility
Hello, I plan to use a M4300-8X8F (XSM4316S) with SFP modules from Embrionix (https://www.embrionix.com/product/subfamily/sdi-to-ip) First, on this model, is it allowed to use SFP module not from NeatGear ? Is it able to provide 1.5W power to the SFP module ? What kind of SFP is allowed : MSA or nonMSA ? Thanks DanielSolved7.3KViews0likes3CommentsSwitch prosafe sfp link
Buongiorno a tutti! Grazie ancora in anticipo a chi risponderà!Solved5.7KViews0likes5CommentsReplacement for JFS524F switch with SFP module for Fiber
Hi folks, Have a small network spanning 2 buildings connected via fiber. Each end has a JFS524F switch with AF711F fiber SFP module. I am seeing packet drops at the remote end. 1. How do I troubleshoot this? I have powercycled both switches and problem continues. 2. One option is to replace both ends with Gigabit switches supporting fiber module. Netgear site says JGS524F, but that may be obsolete. What is the least expensive way to replace this functionality? I believe the fiber module that I want is the AGM731FSolved2.4KViews0likes4CommentsCollegare NAS a GS110TP tramite fibra SFP
Solved
