Hi, I just recently purchased a RN102 (6.0.8 ) and loaded all my media files onto it. It's been on for a few days now so any DLNA indexing services should have had more than enough time to finish.. however, a lot of folders are missing - completely randomly. And some folders contain only half the files - other files appear in wrong places. Why?? I was using a Buffalo WVL before (actually, I still am until I get this sorted out) with Twonky and it worked beautifully. Twonky detected all my files and the directory structure was very good. (it was the same as my directory structure) With ReadyDLNA as it's now, it's completely unusable. The folder structure isn't even correct! As an example: I have 20 .mpeg files in one directory but this directory is not showing up - instead one of the .mpeg files shows up in the root (in "folder" view on TV). :? How is this even possible? If ReadyDLNA has found the directory and the files in it, why not just show the whole directory? Why would it skip 19 files and "move" the last one to root? Photos from my last holiday won't even show up. I used 2 cameras, a sony compact and a nikon dlsr. So I have 2 directories called "Sony" and "Nikon". Both contain .jpg's For some reason only Sony shows up :? :? Twonky displays both.. I must have missed something. Where's the re-indexing button? Or how do I install Twonky? (I'm using a SONY 46" EX500 if it matters)Solved42KViews0likes32CommentsDLNA over the internet ?
Hi All, This may be a stupid question in more ways than one, but I'll ask it anyway cos the prospect intrigues me. I've got all my media (music, photos and video) on my Readynas Ultra 6 plus, I've enabled DLNA on the device and I'm streaming my media using nPlayer on the iPad, on my LAN it works great, absolutely flawless and I'm really pleased I can stream directly off the NAS without computers/servers being involved in the mix. But what I want to know is can I extend this further and stream over the internet ?. For example if I go to stay in a hotel and I'm on their WIFI how can I get access to my media, I want to use DLNA or similar if possible. So what ports would I need to open on my router, what kind of port forwarding would I need to setup ??. I must stress I want to use my NAS and iPad only, no computers or servers in the mix (so I'm ruling out Air Video and StreamToMe etc). Is what I'm proposing doable, what are the security implications of exposing my NAS to the internet and can it even be done ? Any advice welcome. I followed the instructions from the How to section to setup my ReadyNas Nv+ to act as a webserver and it works flawlessly. So far, so good. The only problem I have is the certificate error which I cannot seem to be able to get rid off. Is this just impossible or is there a way?20KViews0likes20CommentsSqueezebox Media Server and AirPlay?
Hi all, I wish to use airplay on my squeezebox devices via the squeezebox media server (multi room purpose). Can one of you point me in the right direction? I'm new to the whole NAS thing but not afraid to fiddle with it. One way seems to be a plugin called ShairPort - any experiences and/or good guides? I am using ReadyDLNA v1.0.25 on a ReadyNAS Duo streaming on a Panasonic GT30 TV. The file list appears to be sorted by file creation date. Is there any way to change it to alphabetic order? I had first searched for help with this post: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=68454. There I was told the trouble does not come for the DLNA service? I have asked Panasonic directly about how to change the sorting order of the files, their answer was as follows: The TV itself does not sort the files. The order is set by the DLNA device or DLNA software. However, since we can not make any statement on the configuration and operation of facilities as well as to third-party software and equipment, we can regrettably not help you set up your DLNA server software or your NAS. To check this, please contact your computer vendor, your system administrator or the manufacturer of your DLNA server software. So... I still did not find a solution to my problem and I do not know how I should proceed now. Can you guys help me through this please? Thanks for reading. the offical subsonic "getting started" page at http://www.subsonic.org/pages/getting-started.jsp gives these instructions: 4 Using https For improved security you can turn on https encryption. On Windows, open the Subsonic Control Panel by clicking on the Subsonic tray icon, then enable https on the specified port (default 443). On Linux, add --https-port=4443 (or any other port) to SUBSONIC_ARGS in /etc/default/subsonic (Ubuntu/Debian) or /etc/sysconfig/subsonic (Fedora/RPM). Can anyone please give instructions on how to do this on the ReadyNas? I couldn't find /etc/default/subsonic (running subsonic add-on 2.0 with ffpmeg add-on 1.2)8.5KViews0likes14CommentsInstall Note: Logitech Media Server 7.7.2
An important note for those of you who might be installing Logitech Media Server (LMS) 7.7.2 on your Sparc or x86-based ReadyNAS (this doesn't apply to the ARM models because they didn't ship with Logitech Media Server installed on them)... PLEASE make sure to uninstall any existing "SlimServer" "SqueezeCenter", "Squeezebox Server", or "Logitech Media Server" installations from the "Streaming Services" on your ReadyNAS before installing 7.7.2 or newer! The latest release of Logitech Media Server will install in the "Add-Ons" category rather than "Streaming Services". If you don't remove the old version from your ReadyNAS first, you will end up with it appearing to be installed in two places, though it's only really installed once on your ReadyNAS. Please also note that after you've installed 7.7.2, there should be no need to run the "CleanSqueezeCenter_DB" script, or uninstall your old version of LMS every time you want to upgrade to a new version. LMS no longer uses MySQL for its database since version 7.6, when they started using SQLite files instead. Continuing to run CleanSqueezeCenter and uninstalling old versions at this point only wastes additional time, and also requires you to re-set all of your server/player/plugin settings every time you want to upgrade, while doing an in-place upgrade will retain the database and all of your settings. If you are upgrading to 7.7.2 from a version earlier than 7.6, then you should still run the CleanSqueezeCenter script before installing 7.7.2, if for no other reason than to ensure that the old version is properly cleaned up, but you won't need to do this after installing 7.7.2. 7.7.2 also adds some options for clearing the media database and doing a complete reset of the software to FrontView, in the event that your LMS installation should find itself in an inconsistent state and no longer function properly.7.9KViews0likes28CommentsDLNA showing multiple entries
Hi Everyone Got an odd one, I have a ReadyNAS Ultra+ and recently it has started showing multiple entries of any video content I upload, and I am not talking one or 2, there can be 40+ copies of the same file when looking at the file structure via a DLNA device. But it doesn't do this to everything, and it isn't all the time. The DLNA devices I have tried are a Samsung C Series TV and Samsung Blu-Ray player, yet when I look at the content from a file explorer, IE Finder or Windows Explorer, there is only one file. The ReadyNAS is running the latest version and the content is copied up from Lion 10.7, yet Lion only sees one copy of the file, and given there is no change to the file, I am pretty sure this isn't the new backup program of the Mac. Any ideas?7.7KViews0likes14Comments
