16650 TopicsPoor Quality Video MS Teams/Zoom
Hi there, I have installed an Orbi RBK852 last week and had some significant issues with zoom and teams. Over a period of 6 days, I have spoken/called Telstra (ISP) and Netgear multiple times with little to no answers or improvements. My Orbi RBK852 is connected directly into a NBN CO NTD FTTC box which has replaced the Telstra CobraAX Gen 3 Modem. The Orbi connected perfectly and picked up everything automatically from the ISP and was ready to go. Download speed 102/upload 19. When trying to use zoom and teams, the packet loss and sent bitrate is incredibly low and poor. After ticking disable SIP ALG, Nat Filtering set to Open and unchecking disable IGMP Proxying I was able to have zoom to return to no freezing and stutter with only 1% packet loss and not up to 90% packet loss. However, MS Teams is still running like I am frozen in time. The changes I listed above improved my sent bit rate from 0.2 to 1.1 mbps but not enough to have a solid video for the person on the other end. When they watch me on their mobile or when I share screen, the video is fine (I think because of the low resolution/screen size). But normal size impairs the teams completely. I use MS Teams and Zoom up to 55 hours a week and work from home so this is incredibly distressing. I do not want to accept defeat and set the RBR to AP mode, I want this to work as a router and modem. I have tried playing with other settings, the CTS/RTS was increased from 1, to 500, 1500 and 2347 (max) with no change. I set the radio frequencies to auto and 48 (even though the issue still occurs when plugged directly into the RBR. NG support did a ping test no issue. They did it to zoom/teams and there is a timed out request but that issue exists even when I do not use the Orbi system, the ISP and NBN have the same time out but when I plug the ISP modem back in and connect to that, absolutely no issue with teams or zoom. I have tried this in browser and app (updated both and I am up to the latest firmwire on the router and satellite). I would love any ideas or anything I can change to try increase its performance. It seems that the Orbi system does not want to allow the traffic to these services but I am also not the most technologically advanced and would love any assistance. Someone out there must have had the same issue and can explain it in a way that doesn't make numbers/equations fly across my vision. I have my ISP arguing that it is the Orbi system, I have NG argue that it is the NBN/ISP. Like most of us, I spent a lot purely to get 40 + devices connected and future proof because the ISP modem would drop connections and devices constantly sitting at 20 devices. Please help! AX6000 WiFi Mesh System (RBK852)WiFi Extender Won’t Connect to Some Apps/Sites
My Network: AX3600 Insight Managed Router (Firmware version 10.2.0.16), AX1800 Mesh Extender (Firmware version 1.0.3.36) Issue: I recently got a new router and a range extender to help cover my whole house, but I’m running into a weird issue. When any device (phone, desktop PC, laptop, iPad) connects via the extender, it loses the ability to connect to some websites. For instance, I can connect to Facebook fine, but if I try to connect to Twitter, it fails to load. When I try to connect to those sites via the Wi-Fi from the router, everything loads perfectly. Attempted Fixes: Factory reset of both devices, firmware update, cycling both devices and the modem, cursing.5.4KViews0likes7CommentsChange my router extenders name in WiFi search
I want to change the name of my extends name as it appears in the WiFi search. While doing the set-up, I hastily just added the word 'extender' after the name of the router. Now I would like to change it to something a little more original. Is there any way to do this?58KViews1like3CommentsNETGEAR WiFi Range Extender EX6120 drops wired connection
I'm having an issue where my wifi Extender keeps dropping it's wired connection to my PC. At first it happened every once in awhile, then once evertime I got on my PC, now it's every hour or so. The wired connection changes to read "Unidentified Netword, no internet access" and when I run the troubleshooter all I get is "Ethernet 3 doesn't have a valid IP address". If I unplug the extender and plug it back in, it boots up and works fine, until it doesn't. Any idea what's going on?1.8KViews0likes6Comments[R6400] Wired Works, Wireless drops out frequently during day
I've got an R6400 handling wired and wireless networking in my small apartment. Always once a day, sometimes twice a day, all wireless devices will lose wireless internet connectivity, and I will need to restart my router to restore wireless networking. I've noticed that while my wireless will fail, my wired networking is still working perfectly. (which to me indicates that the general internet service and modem are fine). Wired, I have 2 PCs. Wireless, I have a phone, a tablet, a laptop, 2 Sonos speakers, an Apple HomePod mini (which *should* coordinate a dozen smart bulbs on Thread). Router firmware: V1.0.4.128_10.0.104 What could be the cause of the issue, and how can I troubleshoot and remedy this? Thanks! JakeAccess Control Lists for Orbi RBR50
In recent days I have experienced issues when existing devices have tried to reconnect to my router. It turns out that the problem was my ACL list had reached a maximum allowable of 128 devices in the allowed list. I turned off ACL and the problem went away. As I only have currently 32 devices connected my question is can I clear out my ACL and strat over, and if I did do this would there be any detrimental effect on my existing devices or would a simple reboot re-populate the allowed list as I have ticked allow new devices to connect to the router. I have an Orbi RBR50 with two RBS50 satellites connected to it running the latest firmware. Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks MikeR7000P Readyshare (again) USB device 'Cannot be stopped right now'
This is a recurring issue with several Netgear routers with Readyshare, and there have been several replies to this question, but none of them are actually helpful. For example, there are no suggested steps to find why the router thinks the device (in my situation, a simple, fairly modern, USB "thumb drive") can't be stopped, or how to make it stop. On my LAN (hardwired Gigabit Ethernet), the workstation I use mostly is a fairly modern "desktop" with 64-bit Windows 10, patched current. From this workstation, until today, I have never been able to stop the thumb drive, even after re-booting both the router and Windows. HOWEVER, I just learned this: I chose to Sleep Windows (I could have chosen Shut down, of course), and used my old iPad mini via WiFi to choose [Safely Remove USB Device], it worked, and now I can remove and re-insert that same thumb drive, and on that same Windows box, choose [Safely Remove USB Device], and it works every time. Of course, in view of these observations, it could be that the Windows box has nothing to do with the issue. Windows Media Player Network Service (WMPNetworkSvc) does not appear in the Everything tab of Sysinternals' Autoruns, and I don't normally use WMP, so I think that's not part of the problem, though of course who really knows, in Windows? Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options says, "Media streaming is not turned on", and it never has been, on this workstation, but of course this also may be irrelevant. Bottom line: Can someone please document the cause of the actual issue, Readyshare USB "Cannot be stopped right now", and how to deal with it, for those unfortunate customers who have no alternate means of using [Safely Remove USB Device] on the affected Netgear routers?648Views0likes1Comment
