In recent days I have experienced issues when existing devices have tried to reconnect to my router. It turns out that the problem was my ACL list had reached a maximum allowable of 128 devices in the allowed list. I turned off ACL and the problem went away. As I only have currently 32 devices connected my question is can I clear out my ACL and strat over, and if I did do this would there be any detrimental effect on my existing devices or would a simple reboot re-populate the allowed list as I have ticked allow new devices to connect to the router. I have an Orbi RBR50 with two RBS50 satellites connected to it running the latest firmware. Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks MikeR7000P Readyshare (again) USB device 'Cannot be stopped right now'
This is a recurring issue with several Netgear routers with Readyshare, and there have been several replies to this question, but none of them are actually helpful. For example, there are no suggested steps to find why the router thinks the device (in my situation, a simple, fairly modern, USB "thumb drive") can't be stopped, or how to make it stop. On my LAN (hardwired Gigabit Ethernet), the workstation I use mostly is a fairly modern "desktop" with 64-bit Windows 10, patched current. From this workstation, until today, I have never been able to stop the thumb drive, even after re-booting both the router and Windows. HOWEVER, I just learned this: I chose to Sleep Windows (I could have chosen Shut down, of course), and used my old iPad mini via WiFi to choose [Safely Remove USB Device], it worked, and now I can remove and re-insert that same thumb drive, and on that same Windows box, choose [Safely Remove USB Device], and it works every time. Of course, in view of these observations, it could be that the Windows box has nothing to do with the issue. Windows Media Player Network Service (WMPNetworkSvc) does not appear in the Everything tab of Sysinternals' Autoruns, and I don't normally use WMP, so I think that's not part of the problem, though of course who really knows, in Windows? Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Media streaming options says, "Media streaming is not turned on", and it never has been, on this workstation, but of course this also may be irrelevant. Bottom line: Can someone please document the cause of the actual issue, Readyshare USB "Cannot be stopped right now", and how to deal with it, for those unfortunate customers who have no alternate means of using [Safely Remove USB Device] on the affected Netgear routers?587Views0likes1CommentMy extender won't connect to my new router
I recently changed internet providers and now my extender won't connect. I factory reset it and used the Nighthawk app to set it up. On my phone it says it's connected, but the extender itself doesn't show it's connecting. I also have an ethernet cable connected from the extender to my desktop. My desktop still isn't connecting to the internet, so I know the extender isn't working. I called support and after TWO hours, they were unsuccessful in helping me. I'm calling back again and I've now been on hold for an HOUR! This is ridiculous. Unhappy is an understatement. Please help.1.2KViews0likes3CommentsIs there an extender with external antenna that works with RBR40 router with RBW30 satellites
I have a pole barn for mechanical repair, welding projects, work benches. The building is grounded all metal walls and roof, concrete floor, no windows. I spend a lot of time in this building and would like to have a dependable wifi signal. During nice weather I can open the door and get a good wifi signal from my Orbi satellite in the nearby garage. During unfavorable weather with the door closed I cannot get a wifi signal. Years ago before Orbi, I had a Linksys router that my Netgear Extenders EX6100 and EX3700 would connect to. I drilled a hole in the steel wall and stuck an extender antenna out the hole and it worked great. Neither of these extenders will work with my Orbi system. I have not been able to identify an extender with external antenna that works with my Orbi system. In a perfect world I could buy a Orbi satellite with an optional external antenna to stick out the hole in the wall, however, no such thing. Can anyone suggest an extender with antenna that is simple to connect to an Orbi RBR40 router with RBW30 satellites? Simple is key, I'm not a skilled IT Tech. I currently have it set up as a mesh extender as opposed to an access point. Because the devices I need to connect are wired (a server and my desktop). They are connected through a netgear 5 port “dumb” switch to the extender. The issue is I do not see the server or my desktop on the router (Xfinity xFI) they have been there before because I can see them as previously connected. Also I noticed they get assigned a virtual machine address as opposed to their MAC addresses being forwarded to the router. I thought this was supposed to act as a bridge to the router. Or is that only possible through it being an access point? Any assistance would be/is greatly appreciated thank you!541Views0likes4CommentsMR70 Loses Advanced Routing Settings
NightHawk #MR70 mesh system V1.0.3.34_2.0.58) is set up with advanced routing to some custom TCP/UDP ports. After a while (ranging from days to weeks), the advanced routing stops. When I go in to look at the settings, the list is blank. If I try to add the rules again, the system presents the message that the rule conflicts with existing service. However, when I try to search the rule it does not exist and the list remains blank. The only (temporary) solution I've found is to completely factory reset the system and re-create all the rules. Unfortunately after a few days the problem returns. I've tried backing up the settings and restoring from the backup, however the same problem persists upon restoration, even if the settings are backed up after a freshly reset system which should be error free.A6150
My WiFi stopped working in my 3 year old Dell laptop. My ethernet continues to work. I assumed it was the internal adapter, and purchased an inexpensive but reliable A6150 USB Wireless Adapter to be able to use my laptop in a Wireless environment. (Going camping tomorrow for a week). Now, neither adapter is finding my network connection, which is working because my cell phone picks up the Wireless network at my house. Even after uploading current drivers for both Wireless adapters, when I unplug the ethernet cable, the Wireless network is not showing up. I have run through Windows diagnostics to no solution. I also disabled the old adapter and tried the new one, but to no avail. Can anyone suggest the next troubleshooting step prior to me taking it to a computer repair center? All helpful suggestions are appreciated. I am running Windows 10. Thanks, Danny126Views0likes1CommentPlayStation Portal - Wifi Issues - Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router - C7000v2
Router: Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi Cable Modem Router Model: C7000 v2 Product Page: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/c7000v2/ I'm having Wifi issues when doing remote play via my PlayStation Portal. My PS5 is wired via ethernet and gets around 654 Mbps connection speed (download) and 22.0 Mbps connection speed (upload). My ISP is Spectrum. I get about 109 Mbps download speed and 17.34 Mbps upload speed when connected to 5G WiFi. We have 16 devices connected to 5G WiFi and 3 devices connected to 2.4G WiFi. When I connect to the PS5 via remote play on the PlayStation Portal the quality is pretty good for the first minute and then the video quality starts to degrade, the input lags, and then a warning message will appear saying there are wifi connectivity issues. If I disconnect and reconnect then the quality is good for the first minute, but then it starts degrading again. The router is in our garage and I play on the 2nd floor of my home. I have more luck connecting via 2.4G versus 5G. Things I have tried thus far: hardwired PS5 to Ethernet assigned static IP address to PS5 and opened port forwarding moved more devices off 2.4G onto 5G to reduce potential interference from other devices Changed the WiFi channel for 2.4G from 4 to 1 None of these options seem to have a significant impact. Wondering if next step is to buy a new router or if there's something else I haven't considered here.418Views0likes3CommentsTrouble with 5G Band on Nighthawk AC3200 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C7800)
My modem/router LED light shows that the 5G radio is on - sometimes solid and other times flashing intermittently. My devices all show that the 5G band network is available. The same is true for the 2.4G band width other than the LED light constantly is flashing. The 5G is intermittent with allowing devices to connect but usually with no internet connection, when it occasionally does connect with internet connection is is very slow and usually "in and out" and then losses internet connection completely. I have disconnected the modem/router power for a few minutes and then reconnect to power to restart. I have disconnected and reconnected the internet ISP cable. I checked the Net Genie and find that the ISP, Sparklight Internet, and it shows that they pushed the latest firmware version, V6.01.07. Everything I can see on this browser site shows the modem/router to be working properly. I do not know how to further troubleshoot the modem/router which has been functioning properly since late September 2021. Sparklight pushed a "hard signal reboot" to the modem/router and that didn't work either. How do I discern if there is a problem with the Sparklight signal coming to the modem/router, if the router is failing, or if it may be an IP address issue originating with the modem/router signal being broadcast?249Views0likes3CommentsFace login does not work anymore
