27 TopicsProblem setting up AC1750 R6400 as a bridge to an AC 1750 R6400 primary/modem router
I just purchased two AC1750 R6400 routers with the intent of using one as the primary or modem router connected directly to my modem and the second as a bridge. I configured the primary router and confirmed that I could wirelessly connect to its 5GHz channel and successfully access the internet via my laptop. Next, I disconnected the ethernet connection of the primary router to the modem and connected the bridge router to the modem so it could be configured. Following the directions in the user manual, I then proceeded to set up the second router by selecting the radio button to "Enable Bridge mode" at the ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings menu location. I clicked the "setup bridge mode wireless settings" and selected 5GHz as the network freqency, populated the SSID field and password with the 5GHz SSID name and password from the primary router, and selected the radio button for the proper "Security Option" on the bridge router to match that of the primary. I left the check boxes checked for both "Get IP Address Dynamically" and "Get DNS Server Address Dynamically" and hit "Apply." After the bridge router updated, I got a message stating, "Please change your computer's IP address manually if LAN IP subnet will be changed," and at the same time, the status light for the internet connection on the bridge router changed from white to red and I lost capability to access the internet. For troubleshooting, I've tried unplugging the power cord to both my cable modem and the bridge router for 5 minutes, but once powered back on, the internet status light is still red and there is no connectivity to the internet. I'm now stuck. I've followed the directions to the letter in the user manual on how to set up the secondary router as a bridge, but I haven't been able to get it to work. If anyone could help me complete a functional setup of my bridge router, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, JamesSolvedAT&T Uverse Pace 5268AC in DMZ+ With Orbi ... help please
So I've been struggling with this for about two weeks now. I want to be able to use Orbi as my router with my ATT suplied Pace box because the Pace doesn't support UPnp or NAT lookup (or so people say) . I run a plex media server out of my house and need to be able to access it which didn't work just trying to use the supplied gateway and putting my orbi in AP mode. Also I like to use Nvidia shield streaming to connect to my gaming PC from outside of my house and I also can't do that with orbi in AP mode and using the supplied Pace gateway in none DMZ+ mode. So here's where I'm at: For the most part serfing the internet seems to work Sometimes it seems like web pages can't resolve connections but If i hit the refresh button a couple of times it will load the web page Plex seems to work outside of my house which is good Nvidia streaming DOESN'T work outside of my house even though I've forwarded the correct ports My roku specifically (I have two of them that have the same issue) seems to have a horrible time connecting to any channel both wired or streaming. I think it's having a hard time connecting to the roku servers in order to load a specific channel. Here's how I have things set up: Turned off the wifi on the Pace gateway Turned on DMZ+ mode for my orbi that's hooked to the first ethernet port on my Pace Gateway Public IP address is being passed to my Orbi router Orbi router is on the same subnet mask but a different IP range (10.0.0.x) and the Pace is on (192.168.1.x) Orbi router is set to DHCP mode updated the orbi firmware to the latest I'm really struggling here. There are a lot of really advanced settings on the Orbi that I think might be causing some issues but I don't know what they do even after googling and I'm not sure where I'm gong wrong. Can someone please save my life here. The thing that's most concering to me is that it seems to have issues making some connections at all (like my roku) this isn't just Orbi btw. I have done this exact same setup with an airport extreme and I had the exact same issue.wifi to LAN bridge
I have recently moved from having a separate office to having one in my rented house. The internet is supplied by Sky through one of their modem/routers and it works...ish. My router is downstairs in the lounge and my office is now shoe-horned into a small upstairs bedroom and I have several devices in the office that are connected to each other via an Ethernet switch (which was fine in the old office where I had direct access to the router's LAN port). I now need to get the switch on the LAN reliably connected to the router. So far I have a mains-routed extender and this works okay but there is a fault with them in that they often lose the LAN connection. It is a known fault that I learned of AFTER buying them. I cannot run CAT5 from the office to the router and I cannot reposition the router. Somehow I need to bridge my office LAN, via WIFI to the Sky router. Buying a new router and associated bits is not out of the question but I have yet to ask Sky for the settings (their router came ready configured). Any suggestions? It would be great to have the same kind of technology available on an high end R-series than a entry to low-middle device. It would allow expert users to have better QoS service and a better network control!12KViews0likes0CommentsBridging vs. access point
Hello all, I have a new Nighthawk ac1750 router (6700 I believe). I would like to add it to my existing wireless network (a tp-link router). I can either connect it to the existing router wirelessly or with cat6 (obviously wirelessly would be easier). I am hoping that the Nighthawk will be able to connect to devices wirelessly and hard wired. Looking through the literatureit looks like bridging is not an option, but I am not sure if using it as an access point will allow me to have both wired and wireless clients working through it. Is there another configuration or trick that will let me do what I want to do? Will either of these options negitively impact the transfer of data between the main router and the Nighthawk? Thanks! Hi, My wired network is in a new location in my house away from the phone socket but all the wired devices are together in the same location. What I would like to do is position my Nighthawk next to the wired network to act as the router for the wired network devices. I would like to put my ISP router/modem next to the phone socket for the internet connection. My thinking is I could put the Nighthawk D7000 into bridge mode to act as a router only and wirelessly bridge to the ISP modem for the internet connection. There seems to be only an option to make the Nighthawk to act as modem/router or modem only but not as router only. Can some one advise if the D7000 can be used in this way? Thanks in advance. Hi everyone, I just bought Netgear modem/router Nighthawk AC1900 C7000 100Nas. I was using it as a router, but it conflicted with my other router (NAT), a Linksys. I changed the mode from Router to Bridge, but now I cannot get inside Nighthawk anymore (192.168.0.1). Is there anyway I can get inside? How about reverting the mode from bridge to router? I found a solution on how to keep Netgear as a router with no NAT conflicting issues with linksys router and I would like to try that, but can't, unless I change mode from bridge to Router again. I hope the solution bridge to router is not RESET as I will lose ISP activation (TWC) and have to do it again. Thanks a lot for helping.9.5KViews1like1Commenthow to setup WNDR3800 router as a bridge
I have a FIOS router, with an RJ-45 cable/jack to the room where I want to create a new wifi network for that part of the house. I got it to work, but the crucial step seemed to be when the Netgear changed its IP to 10.0.0.1. I had full internet access....then I had to move some furniture, which meant the router briefly lost power. Now, I have the wifi network, but no internet connectivity (although the Internet light is green, and the router config page says Good for Internet). What is the reliable way to configure the NDR3800 into this sort of bridge mode?SolvedLB2120 Bridge mode, not passing dynamic IP to router
Hello, I am using the LB2120-100-UKS which i have just received from new and wanted to use the bridge mode with a TL-R470+ load balancing router. I am connecting ADSL via the TL-R470+ with no issues (PPPoE in UK). The LB2120 is working well in both router and bridge mode with a PC (direct connection, no routers or switches, PC just set to obtain address automatically). In router mode, i get an IP in the range of 192.168.5.x as i would expact. In bridge mode, i get the WAN IP which is shown in the mobile 4G status window from the LB2120, so i know the (W10) PC is picking up the dynamic 4G IP address. If i restart the modem, it may (not always) get a new IP and the PC picks this up no issues. When setting the WAN port i intend to use for 4G on my TL-R470+ to "dynamic" the poor thing just sits forever and tries to connect with no success at all, looks like it never receives an address. If i set the "Static" and i enter what i noted from a succesfull PC connection, then the TL-R470+ makes a sucesfull connection to the LB2120 and i get 4G internet. Whats more, the load balancing works, and i get the benefit of the ADSL (slow but unlimited) and the 4G (fast but limited). So i know the system works as i want however i cannot use a static WAN IP on my 4G connection. My carrier, EE, wont offer fixed IP address on the consumer data tariff i have, so every few hours, or after a reboot, i would need to manually find the new IP, default gateway & DNS and update the details on the TL router so it can connect. I can only imagine that the router is getting confused as it "sees" both the 192.168.5.1 of the router admin page and the WAN IP and it cannot pick which to settle onto. Or perhaps it only sees 192.168.5.1 and its waiting on an IP assignment. How can i get around this? Is it a fault with the TL-470+ router, or the LB2120. Posts on other LTE models suggest this issue has been known for some time with any router. I can get it to work with the LB2120 in router mode, and the TL470+ in dynamic (i would probably pick static outside the DHCP pool to avoid conflict) and it gets an IP in the 192.168.5.x range but then double NAT is probably not always a good idea. This does at least mean the LB2120 takes care of the 4G WAN IP by ittself and i dont need to worry about it. Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks, StuartWNAP320 won't bridge
I have two of these APs that I want to bridge. I have one wired and one bridged to extend my LAN coverage. The downstream AP will get power and wireless lights but nothing for LAN or Activity. 1. I have the MAC addresses set correctly on each one (each has the wireless MAC address of the other) 2. I have the channels both set to 6 3. I have WEP2-PSK with AES on both and matching passphrases 4. The wired AP has an address reservation on the DHCP server. Should the bridge also have one? If so, to which MAC address - the wired one or the wireless? What could be missing?Solved6.8KViews0likes3Comments
