Model Number: c7100v Firmware: V2.01.33 OS: Mac High Sierra v10.13.3 Hi guys. I purchased the Nighthawk c7100v dual modem/router so I could stop paying the rental fee through comcast, and it works with the triple play that we have. We have a one story, 4 bedroom home and I've never had an issue with coverage or speed with comcast's Arris dual modem/router that we used for years. My speeds using comcast equipment were 150 Mbps down/5 mbps up. Nothing special, but it does the trick. I installed the Nighthawk, called comcast and activated it, checked connectivity and it was working fine. Very similar speeds using the speedtest.net. That was March 17th, last Saturday. On Sunday, March 18th, I noticed the internet was lagging quite a bit. I checked speedtest and it ran a 6 mbps download/5 mbps upload. I restarted the Nighthawk and tried again, but same result. I am lucky to get 10mbps. I'm not using another router, the placement of the Nighthawk is above anything else, not being blocked by metal or a wall, it's in the living room out in the open. I called comcast and they are sending a technician, but I'd like to try and fix it myself in case it's something you guys can help me with. Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope to see a good answer on here soon. Have a great night! Chef2.2KViews0likes4Commentsc6300 does not get DHCP configuration in router mode
I purchased a c6300 router and registered it with xfinity. The problem is that in the router mode it never gets IP configuration from DHCP. If to switch it to the bridge mode, the connected computer receives configuration properly, so DHCP on the provider side works. I tried to reset it, restore factory settings, release/renew with no result. Using it in bridge mode as a just cable modem does not make sense for me as I am willing to upgrade to the high-speed wifi. Otherwise my previous setup of SB6121 + TP-Link N300 works fine1.5KViews0likes2CommentsNot getting correct speed with Comcast
Hello all In November I saw that Comcast offered a higher tier internet service in my neighborhood. Speeds are advertised up to 986 Mbps. Since I signed up I’ve only seen 350-400 Mbps. I had a couple of online chats and phone calls with Comcast. I also had two techs come to the house to check the signal to the house. The second tech said that Comcast had to approve new firmware for my CM1000 modem (this was in December). He said that once Comcast approved the firmware then Netgear would push the upgrade to my modem directly. I called to try to get credit for billing since I wasn’t getting the correct speeds and I was forced to chat with Comcast tech support again. The tech sent me a link to the Nighthawk X6 router firmware page to update my CM1000 cable modem :| When I told them it was the wrong equipment they told me to contact Netgear directly to receive my firmware update. I sent this link to him. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/CM1000#download It says “Current Versions Firmware upgrades are pushed down by your ISP. For more information, please see our Knowledge Base .” He just told me to talk to Netgear :| Has anyone had any success getting advertised speeds with Comcast Gigabit Internet? Thanks for your time13KViews0likes6CommentsC7000 Initial Channel Locking
I got a c7000 from someone that had upgraded to something newer, as far as I know it had been working. When trying to set it up with Comcast, they said they could see it, the self activate seems to work, when they sent reset codes to it, it lost downstream and upstream and attempted to re-aquire. However I never get an active connection, and they never see it as connected. When I go to the cable connection page, it says "Failure Your modem is offline. Please check the RF connection." Then, "Click Here to go to setting...". That link takes me to a very interesting page, showing 24 downstream and eight upstream channels, with only the first of each locked in. Even more interestingly, when the device is restarted it always starts at channel ID 31 at 687000000 Hz, power - 2.1 dBmV, SNR 40.9, which are all good values, but if I refresh the page every few minutes, the downstream channel that is locked in moves down one channel and by 6000000 Hz. Upstream does not appear to change, although I believe it has been different between different restarts. Also near the top of the page there is a startup procedure list: Aquire downstream channel, it reflects the current one locked in as described above; connectivity state, in progress params transfer complete; boot state, in progress unknown; security, disabled; ip provisioning mode, in progress unknown. I will try to post a pic, but I'm working off of my phone currently and the mobile interface is lacking attachments4.7KViews0likes2CommentsComcast pops up when I don't have comcast internet
I recently moved to a new area. I tried to hook up my N450 to the internet, and when I do, a prompt to sign in to comcast shows up. I do not have comcast internet currently, but did in the past. I have done three full factory resets and the same box keeps popping up to sign into comcast. Is this an issue where I need to contact comcast and have them fix it? Or is there a way I can fix this without spend 7 hours on the phone?2.8KViews0likes1CommentNetgear C3700 on COMCAST - Please don't buy it !!
PROBLEM SOLVED ! As you may have seen ive been having alot of issues with this device. The solution is DONT BUY this device if you are with COMCAST !. Here is why: 1. Slow speeds on wifi were due to an out dated firware version on the device according to NETGEAR (Tier 3 agent at the HQ in California) 2. After a FCC complaint that I filed; someone from Corp office at COMCAST called me. HE checked with his senior engineers and said that COMCAST does not have the latest firmware for the netgear device. He accepted that the firmware is completely handled (updated) by COMCAST and not NETGEAR (for the first time) 3. So basically dont use this device on COMCAST and if you want to but your own device in the future please check the compatible device which have been tested and passed with a 3 star rating at COMCAST website. link : http://mydeviceinfo.comcast.net Make: Netgear Model: C3700-100NAS (Retail) Retail: Yes Device Type: Gateway DOCSIS Version: 3.0 End of Life? No Certification: certification should have 3 stars according to COMCAST for that device to have the latest firmware on it ! If you look carefully on this list Netgear device is not properly tested at COMCAST and they will not be doing anything in the near future. However Motorola / ARRIS devices are fuly supported by COMCAST (becasuse they own 10-15% of ARRIS :D ) Sadly ARRIS devices arent the best and their wifi signal strength is absurb compared to some other providers. --------- I bought a Airport express router for $85 on amazon and this has fixed all my wifi issues. (thank you Apple) Basically im using a $150 device as just a dumb modem :( Only if I knew about this corporate mumbo jumbo earlier. God Bless America !20KViews4likes6CommentsC3000 Wifi Cable Modem Router Comcast Internet Trouble
Last week I started having trouble with internet speeds dropping out, websites would time out and not load all the way or not at all. Speed tests time out or if they do test speed is below 1MB down or up. Comcast Technicians came out and checked all their equipment, everything seemed to check out except for the modem. So I bought another modem, 2 of them, and they both did the same thing. I did a ping test and it said I have about 40% packet loss. My downstream is -5.4 dBmV and the upstream is 38.5 dBmV. Comcast support is no help at all and I dont know what else to do. They told me to contact you but I dont think its the modem as Ive tried 3 different ones already with same results. I recently joined Comcact after moving and purchased the Netgear CM400 modem. For the most part, it works fine with no issues. The speed is constant and Youtube, downloading, surfing, etc work great. However, when I watch Netflix it does fine for usually about 40 mins, then starts burffering and eventually just drops out and makes it not even worth continuing to finish the movie becuase it just keeps stopping and buffering. Now, if I just watch a TV series like maybe 25 mins, its fine. Full HD, no problem. But anything more than 40 mins or so it just doesn't work. Every time this has happened, I immediately check my speed, and it is full speed. So I know my internet speed is not the issue. My speed is consistantly around 15mpbs. Any suggestions?4.8KViews0likes7Comments
