17 TopicsPlease provide administrator webpage for DHCP lease admin
Please refer to this topic where the router was struggling to hand out a new IP adress via DHCP : https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-DHCP-offer-but-no-connection-can-be-ma... On a router of this level, would a admin page that can control DCHP not be a minimal requirement? I am talking about a page that would show leased IP adresses and corresponding MAC adress. Also the possibility to change the lease time and to delete certain leases. A log file that would show DHCP offers and responses. With the current interface you are totally blind.11KViews2likes1CommentRouter dropping connections
My rbr50 keeps dropping connections on my network. Multiple computers seeing the same thing, they just lose their connection to the network. This includes internet access and internal resources within my network. I've confirmed my internet is fine by plugging directly into my modem, it's just the connection to the router that is having problems. I've done a factory reset 3 times now and can't stay connected for more than about 30 seconds. I'm on the latest firmware. This is the second time I've gone through this. The previous time about three weeks ago I did a factory reset and it fixed the problem. No such luck this time.Firmware 2.1.3.4 - Issues Log
Good Afternoon Everyone, I was hoping to start a simple issues log thread here for 2.1.3.4 as I see multiple items popping up, and trying to decipher in a central spot might be worthwhile for product development at Netgear. I'll kick this first one off with an issue with DHCP reservations. I have not had the time to run a packet capture to see how the DCHP server is responding on the Orbi, but at the moment none of my devices are being fed their assigned DHCP reserved IP address. Authenication is working for WLAN to access a SSID, but IP address assignment is not occurring and failing for devices. Any feedback or detatiled documentation would be greatly appreciated for any item within this thread!c6300 does not get DHCP configuration in router mode
I purchased a c6300 router and registered it with xfinity. The problem is that in the router mode it never gets IP configuration from DHCP. If to switch it to the bridge mode, the connected computer receives configuration properly, so DHCP on the provider side works. I tried to reset it, restore factory settings, release/renew with no result. Using it in bridge mode as a just cable modem does not make sense for me as I am willing to upgrade to the high-speed wifi. Otherwise my previous setup of SB6121 + TP-Link N300 works fine1.5KViews0likes2CommentsIssue with Static DHCP assignment (2.1.2.18)
Bug? Scenario: A network device has already been on the network and given an IP address by Orbi DHCP. You assign a static IP (in order to group similar items) which is outside the range of the DHCP scope. Outcome: No matter how many restarts of the client network device, Orbi still gives it its original DHCP address as obtained from Orbi. Resolution: Requires that the Orbi router is restarted in order to force it to issue the required static IP address. BUG? - Should the network device on restart not obtain the IP allocated to it from Orbi not the original one allocated from the DHCP scope?Orbi DHCP static IP assignment failing for some devices
Okay, this one's pretty easy. I have an Orbi RBK50 and a couple of satellites. I rely extensively on DHCP to assign IP addressed to known MACs. I have literally 60 devices on my network, from a huge variety of vendors - nearly all of them work fine... but some just don't. I've got a Raspberry Pi Zero W that's configured to retrieve a DHCP address via WiFi. I can see this mapping in my LAN Setup table: 192.168.0.x: (device name) --> AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF ...yet, whenever I connect the device, it gets IP address 192.168.0.y. And I see this record in the Orbi log: [DHCP IP: 192.168.0.y] to MAC address aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff, Thursday, December 07, 2017 12:00:01 I'd chalk it up to a MAC uppercase/lowercase issue (I prefer to keep my entries as uppercase, just for aesthetic reasons), but (1) I've trued changing the DHCP table entry to lowercase, and it fix the problem; and (2) other entries have uppercase table assignments but report lowercase MACs, yet don't have any problem assigning the correct IP address. So... going on here?Range Extender with NAT ???
I'm in a location that has horrible internet service (1mb/s) and the only realistic choice is using a mobile hotspot (tablet). It offers unlimited 30-60mb/s. Unfortunately, it supports only 8 devices, and will not hotspot via USB or ethernet... only WIFI. I need a device to increase the WIFI to 24 or more devices. Essentially, I need a regular wireless/wired Router, but with a WIFI WAN/internet input. (instead of ethernet). or Another possibility would be a WIFI extender with built NAT and a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the connected devices (like in a router). It would present only one IP address to the hotspot regardless of the number of devices attached. The problem is that regular WIFI extenders simply pass through the IP addresses of all the connected devices to the hosting hotspot... to make things worse, the extender itself becomes another connected device. I can't believe that I'm the only one in the world who needs to connect more than 8 devices to their home hotspot. Suggestions???DHCP IP address conflict using Wnr2200 as wireless access point in a Windows network
Hi everibody, I'm using a WNR2200 router only as a wi-fi access point to our lan, which has already a DHCP server. The lan DHCP server is excluding some address in a range (e.g. from .50 to .100) since these addresses are used by some server to give them a static IP in our lan. WNR2200 too has its lan address in that range. DHCP server in WNR2200 is disabled, so any device wi-fi connected should use the lan DHCP server, but in the last days some wireless attached device has an IP in that excluded range (e.g. a smartphone connects and gets the .74 IP), so sometimes we have an IP conflict. We haven't changed anything both in the WNR2200 configuration and in the DHCP server configuration, but this wrong ip assignment is still happening also after a server and /or WNR2200 reboot. How may I prevent the WNR2200 access point to assign a "forbidden" IP to a wi fi connected device? Thank you in advance for your help.SolvedCannot connect with VPN server (PPTP protocol) through Netgear R6400 - error 806
Hi. I recently switched from an old TPLink router and bought a Netgear R6400 wifi router with hopes to boost my home wifi performance. Before that I easily could connect through my work VPN connection over PPTP. After switching to Netgear I have all the time error 806 (no support for GRE protocol). I read some info about that and decided to set up the port forwarding: I choose my laptop IP address and set external and internal ports on 1723. I also checked on the Respond to Ping on Internet Port. Later on I also set up the Default DMZ Server on my laptop IP address. Still - I cannot connect with my VPN connection that was working previously and I know it works fine in different enviroment. Beside that - I have in my office all setups on DHCP and working on static IP isn`t the best solution either. Right now I`m wondering what I`m doing wrong? Or maybe I should be dissapointed with Netgear for not supporting typical VPN pass-through? Please help and point me some directions. My current firmware is: V1.0.1.22_1.0.17Solved+++++++++++ NETGEAR N450 Disconnects Once every hour on the dot - DHCP ISSUES +++++++++++++
Model: NETGEAR N450 (CG3000Dv2) N450 WiFi Cable Modem Router Firmware: V3.01.06 OS: Windows 7 Enviroment: Single Modem, no router, direct wired connection My n450 was working fine for a couple months but this past week it started having problems. Once an hour, every hour, on the dot within a few seconds the N450 will disconnect for about 5 seconds then reconnect. I can precisely predict when it will disconnect before it disconnects and like clockwork the N450 will disconnect. I am not running this on a wireless connection, I have no cable splitters, no router, just a direct connection from the modem to the PC. I have checked the cables from my computer to the modem and the cable from the modem to the wall, and even the crawl space behind the wall leading to the outside cable box, all cables are in perfect condition. I did some research and people are claiming that the issue is a 1 DHCP hour lease and that sounds EXACTLY like the problem I am having. I searched the N450 N450 CG3000Dv2 User Manual and on page 69 the instructions for modifying the DHCP state: ------------------------------------- Reserve an IP Address for DHCP Use To reserve an IP address for DHCP use, enter the DHCP server reservation settings for the private LAN under DHCP Reservation Lease Info in the LAN IP screen. To reserve an IP address for DHCP: 1.Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of your web browser. A login screen displays. 2.Enter the modem router user name and password. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive. The modem router main menu displays. 3.In the main menu, under Advanced, select LAN IP. The LAN IP screen displays. 4.In the DHCP Reservation Lease Info section, enter the MAC address of the computer for which you want to reserve an IP address. 5.Enter the permanent IP address for the computer. 6.Click the Add button ----------------------------------- But literally on the third step these instructions stop working. There is no LAN IP button or link anywhere in the Advanced options. There are many threads on this issue for this specific modem with people claiming they are constantly getting disconnected. A common remedy people have suggested is to perform a factory reset so I did just that, but that also did not fix my problem. Here is a collection of threads that people posted with similar issues that I am having to hopefully prove this is not an isolated incident. Getting disconnected like this is incredibly frustrating as a gamer. Many of the games I play are senstive to disconnects and punish the player. For grandma browsing facebook a 1 hour DHCP timer would never be noticed. For me it's incredibly painful because not only do I get interupted once an hour, I have to sit out for 20-30 minutes to wait for the DHCP timer to expire before getting commited in a ranked match. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/N450-disconnects-every-hour/td-p/1025699 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/N450-WiFi-keeps-disconnecting/td-p/978900 https://community.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers/DHCP-Lease-Length/td-p/466827 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Why-is-there-no-DHCP-Lease-settings-on-a-200-top-tear-router/m-p/1118769#U1118769 Please do not suggest returning the product, it's just insulting because I spent like 100$ to fix my internet problems by purchasing the n450, returning the product would mean 1 week+ with no internet and another 100$+ for another modem. Again I want to repeat what is so frustrating about this issue is that this router was working fine for months, and only a few days ago does this DHCP issue manifest.5.3KViews0likes19Comments
