So I just recently purchased the Orbi RBK40 router and I noticed you cannot separate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi signals through normal methods. I was told that the router has a system or program that automatically pushes the best connection possible. All the devices that support a 5GHz connection seem to connect just fine. However, there are two PS4 Pros in the house and the router refuse to connect it to the 5GHz conncetion. Under my network settings on both PS4 Pro say they are on a 2.4 GHz conncetion. Even under the router GUI it says that it's connected to the 2.4 GHz conncetion. I've been trying to look up methods on how to connect it mannually but no luck. I found a post that teaches how to separate the SSIDs for both the 2.4 and 5 GHz and it worked, however the devices that were connceting to the 5GHz were experincing lag issues and would not have a consistent download rate. I usually average between 145-150 Mbps download when I don't split the SSIDs. However, when they are separate SSIDs, the download ranges from 6-130 Mbps and is never consistent. Not to mention, when the SSIDs are split, the PS4s seems to disconnect from the router frequently. Long story short, is there a way to connect the PS4 Pro to the 5GHz connection?Enabling dynamic QOS on R7000P causes internet to disconnect
I've had this router for a month. For the most part, it works fine. But I've been noticing random lag spikes and disconnects while playing World of Warcraft (my wife gets them too, seemingly at random, and never at the same time they happen to me, even when we're both playing WoW together). Both of our PCs are on wired connections to the router. Per recommendations from the battle.net forums, I tried to enable Dynamic QOS on the router to see if that would help with the issue. However, as soon as I enable & apply Dynamic QOS (prompting a router reboot), all internet connectivity drops, and stays off after the router finishes rebooting. I can still access the router configuration, thankfully, but at that point all I can do to restore internet connectivity is turn Dynamic QOS off and reboot the router again. I would try Advanced QOS instead, but I can't find that anywhere in the router configuration. If it helps, I have Comcast Xfinity 100Mbps (speedtest.net says ~115Mbps upload, ~6Mbps download) using my own Motorola/Arris SURFboard SB6121 modem. I'm using the latest firmware (1.0.1.14). I can't find anyone else here or elsewhere reporting this problem. Any ideas?Solved34KViews0likes11CommentsMajor Failures After Firmware 2.0.0.74 Upgrade!
ORBI firmware version 2.0.0.74 is failing! I have used the ORBI RBK50 system since Apr 2017. While running the 1.xx.xx firmware, the conection was incredibly reliable & fast. I had max speeds from all my devices: several PCs running Windows 10, & an iMac running Sierra (10.12)[High Sierra (10.13) since Sep 25th]. I had reliably uploaded/downloaded hundreds of GB of data each month. This included successful backups to Crashplan & later IDrive. I was very happy with my ORBI. On Oct 1st, I updated my firmware to version 2.0.0.74. By Oct 2nd, I began having significant connectivity problems. Since then, I have tried several suggestions from another thread but the failures continued. Today, I performed the following steps: Factory reset all devices (router & 2 satellites) Performed initial installation Changed satellite names to Satellite-1 & Satellite-2 Rebooted xfinity router Rebooted ORBI router Restarted IDrive backup The connection is still failing! I am lucky to backup a handful of files before IDrive reports a dropped connection! I am not happy. I feel NETGEAR caused this problem with the 2.0.0.74 update. I will be very pissed if I have to pay for premium support to solve this problem!
Hello, I have Window 8.1. I use The Netgear WNDA4100 N900 Adapter. It frequently disconnects and looses its signal. All other wifi devices in the house run well. My computer is the only one that cannot stay on the internet. Is there any help that can be given for this? I am very frustrated. I am constantly removing the plug from the USB port and plugging it back in, to connect to the signal. I have used multiple USB ports and the same issue happens. Thank you for your time.7.4KViews0likes15CommentsNetgear Nighthawk M1 drops LTe connection every day and requires multiple reboots
Hi there, Purchased a Nighthawk M1 (MR1100) from Telstra recently. Seems to work well in terms of speed. But a few problems including severe lack of configuration for DHCP (the only item you can configure is DHCP range - there's no fixed host mappings, or any even basic features present in almost every other device on the market. I really hope this is addressed in a future patch or Netgear advise a secret menu to access these basic features as it's really disappointing and lets the router down at the present time). However, it's by far the fastest I've ever tested. Anyway to the main problem. Every day when I come home the device is no longer providing Internet over the connected ethernet cable. I can connect to the modem admin screen fine, and it reports it's connected to the internet (reports LTE connection is fine and has been connected for over a day); however, no devices on the network can use the internet and the only way to solve it is by restarting the MR1100 multiple times eventually it starts routing traffic again. This problem does not occur on any of the other modems I've tested using the same SIM/Service so it's definitely an issue with the MR1100. Something is wrong with the software - need someone from Netgear to sort this out. Also Netgear you need to add the Nighthawk M1 to your model list as I had to assign this ticket against a random unrelated modem as your product list isn't up to date.WAC104 used as a bridge disconnects
I have a pair of WAC104 Wireless Access Points providing a 5GHz bridge from my VDSL modem to my office in another part of our apartment. Working well, getting 90MB/s. However the connection is lost at times and I've only been able to re-establish it by powering down both WAPs. Seems to happen once a day. Do they have some power-saving setting I can turn off? BTW tried to put WAC104 in the "model" field above but it gets rejected.Solved6KViews0likes8Comments+++++++++++ NETGEAR N450 Disconnects Once every hour on the dot - DHCP ISSUES +++++++++++++
Model: NETGEAR N450 (CG3000Dv2) N450 WiFi Cable Modem Router Firmware: V3.01.06 OS: Windows 7 Enviroment: Single Modem, no router, direct wired connection My n450 was working fine for a couple months but this past week it started having problems. Once an hour, every hour, on the dot within a few seconds the N450 will disconnect for about 5 seconds then reconnect. I can precisely predict when it will disconnect before it disconnects and like clockwork the N450 will disconnect. I am not running this on a wireless connection, I have no cable splitters, no router, just a direct connection from the modem to the PC. I have checked the cables from my computer to the modem and the cable from the modem to the wall, and even the crawl space behind the wall leading to the outside cable box, all cables are in perfect condition. I did some research and people are claiming that the issue is a 1 DHCP hour lease and that sounds EXACTLY like the problem I am having. I searched the N450 N450 CG3000Dv2 User Manual and on page 69 the instructions for modifying the DHCP state: ------------------------------------- Reserve an IP Address for DHCP Use To reserve an IP address for DHCP use, enter the DHCP server reservation settings for the private LAN under DHCP Reservation Lease Info in the LAN IP screen. To reserve an IP address for DHCP: 1.Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address field of your web browser. A login screen displays. 2.Enter the modem router user name and password. The default user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and password are case-sensitive. The modem router main menu displays. 3.In the main menu, under Advanced, select LAN IP. The LAN IP screen displays. 4.In the DHCP Reservation Lease Info section, enter the MAC address of the computer for which you want to reserve an IP address. 5.Enter the permanent IP address for the computer. 6.Click the Add button ----------------------------------- But literally on the third step these instructions stop working. There is no LAN IP button or link anywhere in the Advanced options. There are many threads on this issue for this specific modem with people claiming they are constantly getting disconnected. A common remedy people have suggested is to perform a factory reset so I did just that, but that also did not fix my problem. Here is a collection of threads that people posted with similar issues that I am having to hopefully prove this is not an isolated incident. Getting disconnected like this is incredibly frustrating as a gamer. Many of the games I play are senstive to disconnects and punish the player. For grandma browsing facebook a 1 hour DHCP timer would never be noticed. For me it's incredibly painful because not only do I get interupted once an hour, I have to sit out for 20-30 minutes to wait for the DHCP timer to expire before getting commited in a ranked match. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/N450-disconnects-every-hour/td-p/1025699 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Cable-Modems-Routers/N450-WiFi-keeps-disconnecting/td-p/978900 https://community.netgear.com/t5/General-WiFi-Routers/DHCP-Lease-Length/td-p/466827 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Why-is-there-no-DHCP-Lease-settings-on-a-200-top-tear-router/m-p/1118769#U1118769 Please do not suggest returning the product, it's just insulting because I spent like 100$ to fix my internet problems by purchasing the n450, returning the product would mean 1 week+ with no internet and another 100$+ for another modem. Again I want to repeat what is so frustrating about this issue is that this router was working fine for months, and only a few days ago does this DHCP issue manifest.5.3KViews0likes19CommentsTurn off wireless schedule not working as intended
Not sure if its because of the new firmware, but i am not getting the "turn off wirless by schedule" working as intended. Say for example i set period start 9am to 6pm. The wifi signal would go off in 8:30am and when its over 6pm. The wifi do not turn on itself. I have to login to admin page and found that the "enable wireless radio" box was unchecked. To turn the wifi signal back, i have to check the box and apply the setting. This have been going on since day 3 i ever use this feature and it does not make sense. Any one else have this issue? I have fed up and switch back to the normal settings without using this feature. Will monitor my connection these few days and will update. One thing i do notice though, the new firmware has been causing disconnect issue even worse. Not sure if this is the cause. But seems every roll out of new update, the router connection becomes unstable. How do we block auto update of the firmware?Orbi wifi disconnects/crashes caused by Google Home and Chromecasts OFFICIAL
Google has officially acknowledged this issue of wifi networks getting killed by way too frequent MDNS packets being sent from their devices that crash various routers. I will say that I switched to a Linksys after starting to have issues with Orbi late November, and have not had any more issues. I suppose the robustness of the router to handle such traffic comes into play. Google acknowledges wifi issues caused by Home and Cast devices.
