Next Orbi Firmware must allow guests to see each other but not access Lan
The Orbi Guest Network settings has checkbox option for, "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network". These TWO options must be separated as other routers do. Others before me have pointed out how having these two options treated as one is a security flaw, and defeats the whole point of having a GUEST network. Guests may want to play games with other, use their wireless printer or connect their phones to Chromecast. They should be be able to do this without having access to the entire main network. Guest Network now combined the 2 functions "Wireless Isolation" and "Local Network Access" as a single option. In the old days, they are separate options. My Chromecast does NOT work on Guest Network because it needs to see other devices. I cannot select "Let devices see each other and allow access to my local network", it will defeat the purpose of using the Guest Network. My guests cannot use the Chromecast now because of this. I need this fix very badly. I have been waiting for a long time for the fix to come, but it did not happen. Especially this is nothing new, it used to be there before. I didn't know why it was changed. I am sure I am not the only one who needed this. It just makes sense to have them separated.Guest network with a customised splash page
Can any of the Orbi system create a guest network with a customised splash page, or some calls it captive portal page? When you set up blocked sites/keywords, does that also block them on the guest network? Also, when you add a trusted IP, does the router cache that IP? If so, how do you clear that cache? I blocked a site at the router, but can still get to it from teh guest network.
Guest Network on Range Extenders
Looking to buy Netgear EX8000, EX7500, EX7300, or EX7000 as range extenders for an existing router (Linksys EA9500). Is it possible to set up dual networks (one standard, and one guest network) with any of these range extenders? I've been running an unsecured guest network along with my secured network. Recently, I changed the open guest network to a password protected network becuase a neighbor was logging onto my guest network. After doing so, two guest networks appeared on my system, one was secured, and one was open. I turned off the password protection and my system reverted back to one open guest network. Is there a way to have a secured primary network and a secured guest network, and no open guest network?
Orbi guest network very disruptive (enhancement request)
RBR50 and RBS50 firmware 2.0.0.74 Turning the guest network on or off not only takes a long time but drops the entire network for some time. This is extremely disruptive. Before enabling the guest network, I have to warn everyone that their streaming video, music, downloads, gaming, and everything else is going to be interrupted. If there's any way to fix it so that changing the guest network setting is more gently, it would be appreciated.Enabling Guest Network Too Disruptive
RBR50 firmware 2.0.0.74 Enabling or disabling the guest network takes a long time and disrupts the entire network. I have to warn everyone that their gaming, video streaming, downloading, banking, etc. will be interrupted. Hi, I have been using the Genie app with my R7000 and now my new D7800 NightHawk routers. The Genie app is pretty good but one thing i cant get to work adequately is the Guest Network Time Limit. When I turn on the Guest Network via the Genie app (on Android or IOS) it gives me an option for how long it should be on for. I have set this Time Period to 1 hour but it never seems to turn off? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
