Hi everyone. Just wanted to share a little fun setup I made out of boredom. I found a spare slide switch and a 5V fan in my electronics box and also a 2 AA batteries socket connected in serial. I soldered it together and insulated the wires in a coating and stuck it beneath an opening in the lid and positioned the small fan inside the square, where the Li-Ion battery was supposed to sit before I detached it. It now runs on 3 volts providing a refreshing stream of air to aid the logic board in receiving its heavy loads from the telecommunications network. :) You could actually make it spin faster by using three or maybe four AA batteries without burning out the circuitry (I have tested it with as high a 12V battery, and it did tolerate that for several minutes). You could even get a 9V battery and a just slightly larger fan, or you could perhaps use a tiny lithium polymer battery and make a compact solution completely inside the device itself by using up the dimensions from the hollow battery compartment! I have noticed that the modem gets really hot when you pull torrents down for hours and some report that the DC current will decrease in case of overheating and start to drain the internal battery down to zero, while others report that using a fast charger (2.4A and up) without internal battery will less likely make their modem reboot, so for those people, this could be an adequate option to avoid removing or poking holes in the cover lid and mounting a regular sized cooling fan.Factory Reset
I was told that I need to perform a factory reset on my Netgear N600, Model C3700 Modem/Router because my business VPN is being blocked. The Netgear support site tells me to find the pinhole on the back of the Modem/Router and press for 7 seconds. There is NO PINHOLE anywhere onthe unit that I can see. I realize that this is an extremely basic question, but I just cannot figure it out. The only button on the back in the On/Off.1.3KViews0likes3CommentsC6300 IP problems
I have had this modem for a few years now and it has always worked flawlessly. Today my internet provider upgaded my service and put me on a faster internet plan. Ever since then I can not access my modem/ router and the wifi does not work. The IP listed on my network connection is different from my router IP. For some reason it seems that I am connecting to the IP from my internet provider rather than my router. I can not even access my router from the routerlogin.net. Does anyone have a fix for this issue? I don't know much about networking so I am sorry for my vague and uneducated details.850Views0likes1CommentSetting up EX7000 access point without wiring it to the router?
I’m not too tech savvy but from what I read you set the EX7000 up as an access point and connect it to the router using the Ethernet ports. However that’s not what I want exactly. I was wondering if I can connect the extender to the CAT6/Ethernet port(not sure what the correct name of port on the wall is called) on the wall in my room upstairs instead of hardwiring it to the router. The router is downstairs in my brother’s room. Our routers connect to the internet via CAT6 ports instead of coax since the ONT box in our garage acts as a modem (according to the Best Buy employees I’ve talked to). So instead of having a modem connected via coax and a router connected to the modem, we just plug in the router with out the need of a modem device. So I was hoping I could just do the same with the extender and not it connect to the router wirelessly or have it hardwired to the router itself.992Views0likes1CommentNighthawk R6700v2 losing connection to CM700 Modem
Hi there, We are relatively new Comcast Xfinity custmers and decided to buy our own Modem (CM700) and Router (Nighthawk R6700v2). Every morning we find that our computers are disconnected from the internet (DNS Server error), although the Comcast Home Security system is connected through our Modem... and I can access the Internet on my phone when the computers show they are disconnected, however. Each morning, I have manually reset the modem. Today, however, I reset the router instead and the system came back up... which suggests the problem is with the router. I have been told Comcast send updates around midnight every day... and thought this might be causing the modem/routers issues... Can anyone advise on how I would investigate the issue with the router? Thanks in anticipation, AllanSolved9KViews0likes15CommentsCable modem compatible with Orbi RBR50
I just subscribed to Charter Spectrum and would like a modem that is compatible with both Charter cabel and an Orbi RBR50 with one satellite? One member of the community recommended a Netgear CM1000 for an Orbi RBK43, but we have different models. Any help would be greatly appreciated.how does Orbi AC3000 RBK50 work with Motorola SBG6580 (2 in 1 model/router)?
Hi There, I plan to buy Orbi AC3000 (RBK50). I have Motorola SBG6850 now, which is a modem/router 2 in 1. 1st question. Do I still need the Motorola SBG6850? If so, how should I set up both of them to have the best Wifi speed? Thanks in advance! Best, EddieNetgear R7000 isn't up to speed on a gigabit connection through CM1000 modem
Hi, I recently got a Netgear CM1000 modem on my gigabit Xfinity connection. When I hook my laptop up to the modem directly I am getting close to a gigabit connection, at least above 900 Mbps consistently. But when I hook up (ethernet) through my R7000 with fully upgraded stock firmware I'm still just getting around 200 Mbps which is the speed I used to have before my connection was upgraded. What could the reason be for me not getting any speed increase when connecting through the router? As far as I can see the the router should be able to handle the speed.Solved16KViews0likes5CommentsI need help!
I don't know what board to select or where to start, so first off I apologize! I need a Netgear wifi modem that's compatible with time warner spectrum. The "compatible models" are: C6250, C3000-100NAS, C3000v2, C3700-100NAS, C3700v2, C6300, C700-100NAS, and N450 CG3000Dv2. I don't know what any of those mean! I see on craigslist models that have model no: dgnd3700 and also says n600? Would that work? Someone please help me, thank you so much!!2.5KViews0likes4Comments
