10 TopicsRAXE300 serving DHCP despite AP mode
tl;dr: I have the RAXE300 in AP mode, but it's suddenly serving DHCP. I've had a Netgear Nighthawk RAXE300 (6E) since August 2024, and I always used it in access point mode. My LAN is 10.0.x.x with DHCP server on OpenWRT router (which has no Wi-Fi). A few days ago, I suddenly started getting Wi-Fi outages, which were temporarily resolved by rebooting the Nighthawk. However, the Netgear DHCP server is providing 192.168.1.x addresses tcpdump -i br-lan -n -e 'udp port 67' # LEGITIMATE DHCP EXCHANGE (Server 10.0.0.1) 11:39:20.676394 34:98:b5:72:8c:ad > ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ... 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: DHCP Request 11:39:20.677916 e8:9f:80:4f:f1:0b > 34:98:b5:72:8c:ad ... 10.0.0.1.67 > 10.0.6.21.68: DHCP Reply (OK) # THE ROGUE EVENT (Netgear RAXE300 interfering) 11:39:52.373800 f4:2b:8c:0c:c5:76 > ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ... 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: DHCP Request 11:39:52.378200 e8:9f:80:4f:f1:0b > f4:2b:8c:0c:c5:76 ... 10.0.0.1.67 > 10.0.10.2.68: DHCP Reply (Good) 11:39:52.380646 34:98:b5:72:8c:ac > ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff ... 10.0.4.42.67 > 255.255.255.255.68: DHCP Reply (ROGUE) Notice 34:98:b5:72:8c:ad and 34:98:b5:72:8c:ac are neighbors Netgear Firmware Version V1.0.9.82_1 (no updates available)PS4 -> PS5 remote play detected as DOS
Since about a month I have issue with PlayStation RemotPlay connection over LAN network. The communication on port 9308 is established correctly, but then PS5 try to connect with PS4 on random port from range 49152 - 65535. This connection attempt is detected as DOS attack. Below example from logs. Hardware: RAXE300 Firmware: V1.0.9.82_1I realized I am years out of date but bought an RAXE300 to replace an R9000
I realized I am years out of date but bought an RAXE300 to replace an R9000. Posting here because this conversation seemed relevant. I probably should have gotten a 7E device but really, it's just my wife and I and though we have several devices, we tend to use them at different times. Our Spectrum 600 is plenty for us even streaming different things. I was surprised that my refurbished 300 was already registered as of last summer so I don't get a warranty but I can return to Amazon if it goes down in 3 mos, so lack of warranty probably is unimportant. We have 2 Macs and a Macbook that support 6GHz; the iPhones, iPads, HomePods and AppleTV support 5GHz. I had to keep the old router name for compatibility with 2.4 stuff including a Chamberlain Homebridge that is a nightmare to set up. (As soon as it breaks, I'll get something else). We have lots of Smart Devices but they mostly connect by bluetooth to the homepods. So I named everything Netgear, Netgear-5G and Netgear-6G and kept my old WiFi password. (I thought the appended Gs were required but have learned better). I switched to WPA3. Macs connected fine to 6G but displayed incompatibility warnings, which I am not sure mean anything. I had to reconnect the 5G devices and through the phones update the homepods. Everything worked but bothered me about the warning on the Macs. Then after reading a lot, I renamed everything to Netgear. 2.4 stuff, no problem. I could get Macs to Connect to 6GHz although it was hard to tell. If it said it was WPA-3, I knew it was right, but all of 5G stuff just connected to 2.4 and no way to get it to connect anywhere else. If I tried to force WPA-3, it would say it was the wrong protocol. So I renamed the 5G to Netgear-5G. All the 5G stuff reconnected immediately and the 6G stuff (3 Macs automatically go with the 6G eschewing the 2.4 even though it's the same named SSID. Great. And the warning is gone on the Macs. It seems happy that the SSID for 6G is the same as 2.4. Everything is fine. I turned on AX for both 5G and 6G but not for 2.4. That works fine too. So is this supposed to work this way? It does work so I am going with it. My only question is why in the heck did the 5G stuff not connect at 5G when I had the same SSID for everything?another OpenVPN issue
Guess it's from a recent app update on both Android and W11. The connection attempt fails every time. The only warnings/errors I see are: Fri Jan 9 16:10:22 2026 WARNING: No server certificate verification method has been enabled. See http://openvpn.net/howto.html#mitm for more info. Fri Jan 9 16:11:22 2026 TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity) Fri Jan 9 16:11:22 2026 TLS Error: TLS handshake failed It recently worked although I don't recall exactly how recently - Prolly a couple/few months ago. Anyone got clues?SolvediPad gets locked out of network
My daughter has an iPad 10 which is allowed onto my network. Every time she charges or updates the iPad, the network blocks the connection. When I log into the network I can see where the device shows BLOCKED. I have done everything I know to enable the device, and once I have enabled connection, things work fine for about a week, until she charges the device, or there is an update pushed. Is this an issue with my NetGear Nighthawk, or is this an Apple issue? Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks for any assistance you can offer. CKelshawSlow upload speeds on router
Do you have a custom firmware for an RAXE300 SN: I have the same issue as everyone here. Been thru multiple service appointments at $99 each. Multiple of the Verizon Fios 211 ONTs, but it worked fine at my previous home that had multi-gig. There’s no multigig in my new area but I’d still like to use my Router vs Verizons.Nighthawk RAXE300 region locked to Canada
My NightHawk RAXE300 is region locked to Canada. I'm in the US and purchased this from Amazon in the US. I just discovered that this router is region locked to Canada and I would like to switch it to the US region, but am unable to do so. I've seen some suggestions that point me towards using telnet to get this corrected, but have not been able to find any step-by-step guides for my particular router. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
