8 TopicsRBR860 intermittent disconnects
I have had this Router plus 1 satellite since March 2023. It is connected to Hitron EN2251 modem from Spectrum. The router and modem are plugged directly into the wall plug. Both sit in the open and at least 4 feet from the ceiling. Up to June 2025 I have had ZERO problems with the router and then I started getting these random disconnects. The internet was up, not a problem with the service. These disconnects could be a few days apart or hours. I didn't record them unfortunately. Chat with Support on July 7th. Elevated to Level 2, after a long chat all he had me do was change the channel on both 2G/5G 11/36 respectively. I sent the Router logs but evidently, he didn't see any there. I recorded more disconnects on July 8th, July 17th and July 18th. Stopped recording dates, figured that wasn't the issue. End of July, beginning of August I changed the channel on the 5G band from 36 to 48. Seemed to run fine until August 26th (out), out again on September 7th and September 10th. I kept the logs from those 3 incidents. Today, September 11th I called Tech Support. The lady kept asking me how many times a day does it disconnect? Really? I don't sit by the router and watch it. I only record when I see the problem. End result, she had me perform a complete reboot of modem and router and told me to monitor the problem. I was monitoring the problem and that's why I called again on September 11th. Very frustrating call to say the least. So, has anyone else had this issue? What causes this problem? How did you fix it? Any insight will be appreciated. GregIsolated ethernet ports
I have a fiber to ethernet terminal (Nokia XS-010X-Q, not a router) connected to my 860 in router mode. I also have 2 sats and a number of devices connected to the ethernet ports on the master, one being a NETGEAR unmanaged 5-port switch in another room. All attached devices, both wi-fi and ethernet, connect to the internet without issue. Been in this setup for months. Enabled Windows Remote Desktop and found out that the devices on the ethernet ports do not talk to each other, ping fails, etc. Tried switching to VLAN/Bridging mode to see if that was required but that didn't help and it disabled their access to the internet. Are the ethernet port supposed to be able to talk to each other by default? If not, how do I configure the 860 to allow ethernet ports to talk to each other? I am testing this with a desktop and a laptop both connected directly to the ethernet ports on the master. Please advise...Share your Orbi 350, 750, 850 or 960 series system UpTime
Found on the routers and RBS IP address/debug.htm web page for best details, please post both RBR and RBS uptime. Please note of any inconsistencies between the RBR and RBS. Generally the RBR and RBS uptime should be same. Home wide power brown outs should be noted if these are seen. Thank you.RBS860 does not react
Dear Community, after I added another RBS860 to my RBR860 (router + 2 satellites) - which was itself quite a challenge as I had to reset all of the devices. Now the additional satellite doesn't react anymore. The power LED is continously orange. The RBS860 doesn't react to: remove power cable - reconnect power press reset button for 10 sec use 30/30/30 method Still no reaction...just a lonely constant orange light. Are the any other possibilities to reset the RBS? What else shall I do to get the RBS back into my network? Thanks a lot!Help, I can't enter the system interface after changing the SXS80 model to RBS850
I changed the SXS80 model to RBS850 in Telnet, and wanted to flash the RBS850 firmware, but the firmware failed to pass the verification and could not be flashed. The current problem is that the machine can run normally and can be used normally after connecting to the upper-level router, but the system management interface cannot be displayed, that is, there is no way to turn on the Telnet option and change back to the SXS80 model. Currently, all firmware versions of SXK80 have no restrictions on turning on Telnet. You only need to enter the /debug.html page and check it, but I can't enter it now. I hope everyone can help me and teach me how to force Telnet to open. Thank you.RBR/RBS 860 sudden inconsistent connectivity issues
I have a 2 satellite, 860 RBS setup with the RBR running in router mode on firmware 7.2.7.15. 1 RBS is connected via wireless and the other is hard wired. Everything has been stable and running without issues until 27th May and no changes were made (config, position of devices etc) I came into the garden room where the second satellite is based (hard wired) and the internet wasn't working. The network was connected and in some instances I could start to browse a page but it would fail and speedtest.net download test would fly up to 750mb then go down to zero and then up to 100mb or so. Download tests would go to 600 odd then hang and then complete and show as a completed test. I have 2 peloton devices, a sonos speaker and a laptop all connected wirelessly on this satellite and all experiencing the issue. My iPhone gets the same experience on this satellite but not on the other or the router. I connected the laptop via a usb-c ethernet adapter and it was working on the garden room satellite. At this stage I thought it was a satellite issue. In the house I have 3 devices connected to the RBR ethernet ports all of which weren't working or worked intermittently including a Sky TV box which sometimes would connect to the inbuilt Netflix app and other times wouldn't. After various power cycles including powering off the fibre ONT then RBR and satellites in that order and powering back on in the same order I was no further forward. I'd also tried resetting the RBS' I called Netgear support who wanted me to change wireless channels for 2.4 and 5ghz which I did and no difference so I reverted back to the original settings of auto and 40. This was despite me saying that there were hardwired devices with connectivity issues as well. They then wanted me to reset back to factory settings which I did and then went though the basic setup before restoring from my saved config as the basic setup wasn't working due to ISP router config not being present. Then I noticed my satellites were on 192.168.0.x and my RBR was on 172.0.16.x and it seemed all devices on 172 were working so I set the RBR to 192.168.1.1 and then went about restarting all devices so they picked up a 192 address from DHCP. Almost all are working bar the Sky TV box on the RBR which is still inconsitent. I come back to the hard wired satellite and I'm in exactly the same position as I was to begin with. Laptop on copper is fine but wifi isn't working. Connection is strong and connected on 5ghz channel but the in built device tests on the pelotons fail due to poor speed. Speedtests from my iPhone are exactly the same as before, they fly up then down to zero then up to about 100 but the actual experience trying to use any device is that they don't work. Have Netgear enforced the firmware update? I can't think what else could be the cause and don't know what else to do to fix the issue. Apologies for the length of post!Solved
