Transmission Description: Transmission is a Peer to Peer (P2P) Client, which will let you download files from the BitTorrent Network. It support encryption and peer blocking. Some scripts have been added to enhance the capabilities like uncompressing files, moving complete downloads to a specific directory. BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file sharing protocol used for distributing large amounts of data. BitTorrent is one of the most common protocols for transferring large files, and by some estimates it accounts for about 35% of all traffic on the entire Internet.[1] The protocol works initially when a file provider makes his file (or group of files) available to the network. This is called a seed and allows others, named peers, to connect and download the file. Each peer who downloads a part of the data makes it available to other peers to download. After the file is successfully downloaded by a peer, many continue to make the data available, becoming additional seeds. This distributed nature of BitTorrent leads to a viral spreading of a file throughout peers. As more seeds get added, the likelihood of a successful connection increases exponentially. Relative to standard Internet hosting, this provides a significant reduction in the original distributor's hardware and bandwidth resource costs. It also provides redundancy against system problems and reduces dependence on the original distributor Requirements: RAIDiator 4.1.6+ Platform: Sparc Current Version: 2.42 Transmission 2.42 I'm wondering whether anyone has managed / attempted to run Baikal on ReadyNAS Duo (Sparc). It's much lighter than OwnCloud and for me it would serve the main tasks: CalDAV and CardDAV. Currently I'm using OwnCloud but that's pretty heavy for the little Duo. Am I alone with that idea? Hopefully not... SABnzbd 0.7.20 Description: SABnzbd is an Open Source Binary Newsreader written in Python. It's incredibly easy to use, and works practically everywhere. SABnzbd makes Usenet as simple and streamlined as possible by automating everything we can. All you have to do is add an .nzb. SABnzbd takes over from there, where it will be automatically downloaded, verified, repaired, extracted and filed away with zero human interaction. Requirements: RAIDiator 4.1.6+ (may work with earlier versions but that's untested) For this add-on to work, the Python add-on has to be installed on your ReadyNAS. Platform: Sparc Current Version: SABnzbd 0.7.20 Changes in this release: - Update to new release of SABnzbd Please Note Due to the limited CPU resources available on the ReadyNAS Sparc line the throughput of SABnzbd on the ReadyNAS may be significantly lower than what you may be used to from running SABnzbd on your client computer. That's not a problem with the software itself but really due to the fact that the CPU in the Sparc models is running at 266MHz max. Details/Installation: After installation of the add-on, SABnzbd's web interface can be accessed by typing http://<ip of your NAS>:2708/ in your browser's address field. You will be presented with the setup wizard: After choosing your language and clicking on "Start Wizard" you'll be taken to the theme selection. I prefer the "Plush" theme but the choice is yours: If you want to protect access to the SABnzbd web interface, enter the credentials on the next screen. Important: If you opt to use HTTPS here, the port on which the interface is accessible will change to :9090 once the wizard is finished!. The next step is important. Enter the credentials to access your usenet providers news service. If you fail to enter proper credentials, the wizard will continue but you'll be redirected to the wizard setup on each access to the web interface until the credentials work! (so: don't use the ones from the screenshot, please. They won't work.) If you have an account with one of the two listed nzb search engines, you can enter that on the next screen: Once the wizard is finished SABnzbd will restart itself. It will also present you with a screen where it tells you on what URL to find the web interface in case any of the port settings have changed: Oce you made it to SABnzbd's real web interface, you may wish to change the location of downloaded files. As you can see, SABnzbd will place files into the "download/complete" directory. Since this is already symlinked to your "Media" share, you may leave that as is. If, however, you want to change the location, make sure to use the "/c/<name of the share>/<folder>/.." syntax. Also check that the destination directory is accessible for the "admin" user because that's the account SABnzbd is running under. If you want to make downloaded files accessible by every user on the NAS don't forget to set the "Permissions for completed downloads" to "777" (without the quotes).9.8KViews0likes23CommentsruTorrent 3.3 + rTorrent
ruTorrent 3.3 + rTorrent Description: ruTorrent is a front-end for the popular Bittorrent client rTorrent. Main features:Lightweight server side, so it can be installed on old and low-end servers and even on some SOHO routers. Also it is extensible - there are several plugins and everybody can create his own one. rTorrent is a BitTorrent client for ncurses, using the libtorrent library. The client and library is written in C++ with emphasis on speed and efficiency, while delivering equivalent features to those found in GUI based clients in an ncurses client. Requirements: RAIDiator 4.1.6+ (may work with earlier versions but that's untested) For this add-on to work, the PHP add-on has to be installed on your ReadyNAS. Platform: Sparc Current Version: ruTorrent 3.3 v0.2.2 Changes in this release: - None, initial release Please Note Due to the limited CPU resources available on the ReadyNAS Sparc line the throughput of rTorrent on the ReadyNAS may be significantly lower than what you may be used to from running it on your client computer. That's not a problem with the software itself but really due to the fact that the CPU in the Sparc models is running at 266MHz max. Details/Installation: After installation of the add-on, tuTorrent's web interface can be accessed by typing http://<ip of your NAS>/rutorrent in your browser's address field. To change the port range used by rTorrent you simply insert the desired portnumbers into the input field in the add-on's pane under "Services" -> "Installed Add-ons" in Frontview and press the "Set" button: By default rTorrent will use the prots from 50000-55000 Screenshots of ruTorrent's interfaceWordPress Installer
WordPress Installer Description WordPress is web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. The core software is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine. Over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power the place on the web they call “home”. Requirements: ReadyNAS Platform: SPARC ReadyNAS Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.10 Current Version: WordPress Installer (SPARC) v0.3.0 Features Installs the latest version of WordPress on your ReadyNAS and makes it available under a domain of your choosing</li> Creates a folder that can be converted into a Share for easy access to the WordPress installation</li> Allows upgrading of the WordPress core as well as installation of themes and plugins directly through the WordPress admin interface - no uploads or manual editing of config files needed.</li> Installation For generic add-on installation instructions please see Add-On Installation Configuration: The WordPress Installer add-on will install an unconfigured version of WordPress on your ReadyNAS. This means that before you can start to configure and use WordPress you need to finish some additional steps after the initial installation of the add-on. Domain Configuration After installation head over to the add-on pane to be found unter "Service" -> "Installed Add-Ons" and scroll down to the WordPress entry. You will notice the input field labeled "Site URL". Enter the URL you want to use to access your WordPress installation. For this example "www.mynewwordpresssite.com" will be used. Next, click on the "Set" button to have the add-on make the necessary changes to the web server's configuration. IP mapping To be able to access the WordPress installation using the URL you specified above you need to tell your computer what IP address it should use for that URL. This is either done by adding an entry to your local DNS server -- if you have one. If you don't have a DNS server, you need to modify a file on your local computer so that it knows what IP address belongs to the URL. The method differs depending on the operating system used. Linux / Mac OS X Open a terminal window and type the command "sudo -i": You will be prompted for your password and then you're in superuser mode. There you type the command "vi /etc/hosts" like shown in the screenshot above. Once in the editor add a line in the form of "ip.address.of.nas http://www.mynewwordpresssite.com" (make sure to replace the values with the real IP address of your ReadyNAS and the URL you chose above) Save the file and exit superuser mode using the "exit" command. Windows On Windows you need to edit the file "C:\Windows\Şystem32\Drivers\ȩtc\ḩosts". <strong>Note:</strong> When using Vista, Windows 7 oder Windows 8 you need to start the editor as Administrator to be able to make changes to that file. Once in the editor add a line in the form of "ip.address.of.nas http://www.mynewwordpresssite.com" (make sure to replace the values with the real IP address of your ReadyNAS and the URL you chose above). Save the file and exit the editor. WordPress Configuration Next fire up your browser and enter the URL you choose for your WordPress installation. You will be redirected to the WordPress setup screen. There are two important bits of information to be entered here: First, the name of the admin user. You can enter any name you like - just make sure to remember it. Second, please use a real email address for the "Your E-Mail" field since this address is used for the password recovery function. After clicking on "Install WordPress" you are taken to the summary screen from where you can login into your WordPress installation. Once on the Dashboard of WordPress you will most likely notice that there are already some modules waiting to be updated. This is because some of the plugins shipping with WordPress may have been updated by their authors since the release of the WordPress version they were bundled with. Updating Plugins & Themes To update plugins and themes just click on the "Updates" link and you'll be taken to the list of plugins that can be updated. Mark any you'd like to update and click on the "Update Plugins" button. WordPress will now download and install the updates you selected. When done, WordPress will tell you whether the process was successful or whether some problems were encountered during the update. If all went well you can now return to the Dashboard and make some other adjustments and configuration changes to tailor your installation of WordPress to your liking. Making WordPress accessible from the Internet To finally make your WordPress installation accessible from the Internet, you need to tell your router to forward port 80 on it's Internet facing side to the port 80 on the internal IP address of your ReadyNAS. How to do this is differs depending on the brand and model of your router and thus is beyond the scope of this short introduction.PHP 5.4.44

DannyDNSMASQ add-on for ReadyNAS Duo
Guys, I would like to use my ReadyNAS Duo to boot diskless PC over the network (LAN). To do that I have to run PXE server on the NAS. After extensive research the only add-on which is close to what I need is DNSMASQ (contains full PXE server) from Whocares? (Whocares? is not active in the last two years). Of course the links in his post are not working: For ReadyNAS NV/NV+/Duo/1x. (Sparc): Dnsmasq_2.52-readynas-0.1.1.bin For ReadyNAS Pro/NVX/2,3,4xxx (Intel): Dnsmasq_2.52-readypro-0.1.1.bin Do you know where can I get DNSMASQ add-on for ReadyNAS Duo from? Other ideas on how to boot diskless PC from the NAS are very welcome. Thank you in advance, V Model: ReadyNAS Duo [X-RAID] (Sparc) Firmware: RAIDiator 4.1.14 [1.00a043] Memory: 256 MB [2.5-3-3-7]
